2019 SOC Display

Found 2019 FFH no longer shows battery SOC in left dash display.

Is there any way to enable it?

I am assuming you checked vehicle settings (left screen)? SOC is a toggle on my '17 and was on my prior '15. In both cases it was OFF when I got the cars.

The SOC setting seems to be cancelled in 2019.

From my understanding on this forum, SOC is the battery symbol on the left display, correct? If so, my '19 HyTi has this and moves up and down depending on the status of my HVB. What it doesn't have that my '13 FFH had is the up and down arrow showing if the battery is charging or depleting. It does still have the spinning circle when the battery is regenerating. If I am correct on what the SOC is, maybe only the HyTi has this now?

hphong2003 - I didn't give you enough info as to where to find this display item. Left screen ==> Settings ==> Display ==> Battery display is where I believe you will find the setting. This is the path on my '17. Once you've set this, as you back out you may want to look at the other stuff in this grouping.

Within that regen setting are there perhaps that plus SOC display? I'm wondering if they changed all the damn software - again. It was changed between '15 and '17 model years ... but not like omission of the SOC.

Welp, my brother reports his '18 has the SOC battery display on his - same as my '17 - and in the same spot in the settings.

Now here's what has me wondering ... if SOC display is not available, why would there be a setting for regen display? Regen display is a swirly thingy that shows regen is happening.

 

Soooo, here's what I'm wondering: did they alter regen display to include SOC? does your controlling computer need a reprogramming or replacement due to missing options?

 

I cannot see them leaving a regen display without something to show how much regen (SOC). ARG! Man, I kinda wish I had a '19 out front!

You seem to think things at Ford work a lot more smoothly then they really do. Stuff gets changed by one group and they don't necessarily tell the people who publish the owner's guide, especially on model years when there isn't a significant change. Like when the 2018 Explorer changed to the new key fob, but didn't update the owner's guide to say the fob uses a different battery.

 

Ford has found that the SOC display has been getting too many complaints, confusing people who don't really understand how hybrids work. So they are taking it away. The 2020 Explorer hybrid doesn't have a SOC display at all. If the OP really wants it, then it can probably be enabled with ForScan, but it's probably not something the dealer will be trained to do. It's a configuration thing, not a software thing, so updating software/replacement won't change it.

Do you have an image of what you are looking for? On my 2019 FFH Titanium I have Empower display set and there is a battery image which shows the charge level as I drive.

My 2019 doesn't have that image, or I can't find it.

 

My image shows:

Display/Trip ->

Information ->

Settings ->

 

and when I select Display/Trip and select Engage I get a display with :

Engage (Split Power + Instantaneous Fuel + Avg Fuel Economy + Battery Gauge + Fuel Gauge)

and The little battery icon shows real time battery level and the swirly circle when charging like coasting downhill.

 

Not sure if that is what you are looking for. Just though I would let you know that there is an icon showing battery use if you select it.

 

Now maybe I have SOC totally confused, if so just ignore my info.

I get a 404 on the images. BUT ...

 

I pestered my dealer again on this topic. Here's what I was told by 2 sales staff and a service advisor: All 2019 Fusion hybrids have the SOC display toggle ability. A sales guy and I went on the lot and looked at 4 FFH (3 SEL and 1 SE). Every one of them had the Battery Display option.

 

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SETTINGS ==> DISPLAY ==> BATTERY DISPLAY on your menu ... get an update or reflash of the computer so you do have it. Your software is wrong. Worst case, the computer will be replaced ... but that is super rare and only a last resort.

BTW - order books are open if you are thinking of getting a 2020 that way.

Sorry, but it makes me laugh when you make these proclamations! When you first bought a hybrid, was SOC display one of your "must have" requirements? I kid... ;)

Actually it was. I was reading here before I bought my '15 and based on commentary I felt that it was something I would want as a referential. I also learned ahead of time about Empower vs Engage screens and why one is preferred over the other. I know you were kidding, but I like to go into a $30K+ purchase as loaded with info as I can be.

 

Besides ... a savvy customer can set a salesman to all sorts of shaking in fear! <chuckle> First Fiesta I bought, I knew more than even the service crew!
