  1. I don't think you'll find it on the sound system, it would likely be done by the software that adds and removes the tracks from your USB device. I plug in my iPod every day and use iTunes to create playlists and add/remove tracks.
  2. Well my wife and I just walked out to the garage with a tape measure and it was 187" for us, and that includes the inch for the front license plate frame. Maybe someone else can post their result for comparison.
  3. I had entered my info on Turbotax and got that notice that the 8910 form had not been updated. I then entered my data into Taxslayer and submitted it last night for $9.95 (without the notice about the 8910) and got an email today that the return had been accepted by the IRS. This actually works better since Turbotax Premier was going to be $49.95 and I did it for $9.95 instead.
  4. You are probably looking at window stickers from cars that were built on different sides of a price change for the model. Look on the sticker and check for a code of 025, 030, 035, etc -- the ones that are $24,330 may have code 030 and the ones that are $24,655 have a 035 (although I don't know exactly which price codes are in effect for which dates). As for which options come with each package, download a brochure PDF from the Ford site and it should list them all there and you can decide which options are worth you shelling out the extra $$ or not. Good luck!
  5. If it is the new version (issued after 2006) you will be OK on I-66 but not on I-95/I-395 HOV lanes during peak hours without 3+... be sure to check the VDOT web site to get the details and not get ticketed.
  6. I've had my FFH for 7 months and 21,000 miles... before that I had a Prius for 3½ years and 128.000 miles. Every winter I found that the MPG would take a hit of about 10%, and the FFH is doing the same, and even more since we've had a bit of a cold snap. Back in Sep my long term MPG had made it up to 42.3 at 9,000 miles... and I knew it would not last. Now with 21,000 and the cold weather, it is now at 37.8. It will continue to take an MPG hit as long as the cold weather is in town. As the thermometer rises you will very likely see your MPG do the same.
  7. I have had this happen probably 5 times now, 1 of those times it was actually due on miles but the others were surprises. Whether I choose "Yes" (thinking something may be wrong, but there isn't) or "No" doesn't seem to matter. The voice lady sounds like she's pretty banal, but turns out she's actually kinda moody and will prompt you for a report whenever she darn well pleases.
  8. Yes you definitely want ramps... I use normal ramps and have no issues. I got my FFH in July and this coming week will hit 20k miles and will change it again (I change every 5k, just personal preference).
  9. I bought one of these clear acrylic shields for my last car, after 3,000 miles I'd picked up so many rock chips on the hood (just above the grill) that I had to do something. I paid about $230 for a kit and installed myself, they included a video so car owner could "do it yourself" and the video made it look easy. It was not easy. I ended up with wrinkles in many places on the corners and it looked pretty bad. It protected from any more rock dings, but it didn't look very well. If you choose to get an acrylic shield, I highly suggest that you pay someone else a few hundred bucks extra to do it professionally, it will keep you from cringing each time you look at the front of the car. I found a site that does this, this is not the one I bought from (made that purchase in 2005, could not find it now), but this should give you more info and many body shops can also do this. http://www.invisiblemask.com/site.html
  10. This sounds like mine has been acting over the past week, since the weather has changed (and snowed me in for 3 days) and it sat there without running for that time. Once I turn the key, the ICE starts up immediately and seems to run a lot more than normal -- but the battery doesn't show low, it shows very high and I think the ICE may also run in those situations to bleed off energy somehow (my Prius used to do the exact same thing). I've run a vehicle health report and it doesn't indicate any problems, I will keep an eye on it but it may straighten itself out in the next couple days as my long commutes (54 miles each way) start again and the charge cycles maybe get into a more steady state instead of the short trips down the road to the store.
  11. No it does not, Travelink is a separate option. I extended my Sirius for 3 years, was something like $9 per month when done for 36 months. However, the Travelink is a separate subscription and was $5.99 per month for those 36 months. I also paid for that, but that was probably a waste as I use the Sirius all the time but rarely ever use the Travelink.
  12. If you have always done your own oil changes, the FFH is no different except for removing a couple access panels on the bottom of the engine. There are 2 access panels on the bottom, one is marked "oil filter access" and the other "drain plug access" or something along those lines, and you'll need a couple small sockets to remove those. Other than that, you need a 13mm socket for the drain plug, and a Fram PH9566 filter (which is what I use, choose whichever brand you like). Once done, you need 5 qts oil, I use 5W-20 synthetic and you will also find plenty of posts here about which type that other owners prefer. If you don't mind taking 30 minutes of your time to change the oil (I always prefer it to get a look underneath), you will find no surprises on the FFH over other cars you've had.
  13. So true... many times when I'm taking it easy from an intersection to get the most from the battery, I get left in the dust by the other lane. If there's someone behind me I step it up to not be a nuisance, but if there is nobody behind me then I don't care and see how much I can get out of the battery before the ICE kicks in. I drive a lot of miles, got my FFH in July and this coming week will pass the 18,000 mark. In September before it started cooling down my long term MPG had gotten up to 42.3 (at around 8k miles at the time), but now it's taken a drive because of cooler weather and longer warmup times, now the long term is at 40.5 and will probably be somewhere around 38 or 39 by Feb-March. But then in the Spring it will creep back up again.
  14. I had the same reaction as the OP, saw the Facebook requirement and it was a quick turnoff. People may love it but I have no use for it. As for this contest, I have my doubts on the results -- I wonder if it will end up attracting a younger Focus/Civic crowd rather than a Fusion/Accord crowd, but oh well I've never been in marketing so what do I know... :)
  15. I got this flyer in the mail today too... looks like an "amazing race" type of thing, doesn't it?
  16. You don't get away unscathed, your MPG takes a hit when it gets really hot -- and y'all have plenty of that!
  17. Send them an email and they will likely reply the same day. When I was shopping online I sent them a note asking if their advertised warranty covered FFH or non-hybrid ... they replied a few hours later and confirmed that it covered both -- so if you pose your question to them, they will probably also reply quickly.
  18. Ditto, you will not be alone in experiencing this, there will probably be a whole lotta "awwww now my MPG stinks" posts that will appear in here during the winter.
  19. Yes the Rhode Island dealer offers the maintenance plan, at least they did as of July. http://www.myfordwarranty.com
  20. You didn't note where you are from -- the brand of gas could be a factor, but from many miles of driving a hybrid I've found that the cold weather causes an MPG hit since the ICE runs much longer to get heated up, and more often to stay heated up. Also, really hot weather will cause an MPG hit too and the HEV drains quicker from running the AC and needs the ICE to charge things back up. I have 11,000 on my FFH now and until 1,000 miles (10 days) ago I had gotten my long term MPG up to 42.2 and even was at 42.3 for a day... then we got a hot day of over 90 and the AC worked a bit extra while I saty in traffic. Then for the past several days it's been under 50F in the morning and the ICE runs more when first getting going. So now I have sunk to 41.5 and as it gets colder I will probably sink back to the high 30s for the long term MPG and wait for Spring to get back over 40 (will probably take until Summer if it's doable).
  21. I checked with Mr Potts, I believe his dealership is in Indiana... I got mine from http://www.myfordwarranty.com which is a Ford and Honda dealer in Rhoda Island for $100 less than the Indiana dealer. I agree with others here that it's a Ford ESP Warranty, don't buy the BS from the local dealer that says they are "not allowed" to sell an ESP plan for that low of a price -- they are all authorized to sell Ford plans and any price floor limitation that a dealer might set is by their own dealership. I think they count on those who "don't want to deal with it" and just sign on another line during the purchase process and throw another $1,600-2,000 into the financing and not have to hassle with it. But not me, I paid $845 and it was no hassle at all, a simple order online and the verification package came in the mail a week later. So unfortunately for the local dealer, they may say they are "not allowed" to sell at a price that low, which means because they refuse to sell the plan and make $100 profit, the customer goes elsewhere and they make $0 profit on it.
  22. I would describe them as outlining the cup holders (which I've found very handy) and also one light in each of the "foot area" for each seating position. You can change the color settings while parked or while driving, pushing the button will scroll through 6 different colors or setting #7 is lights off.
  23. I've found that the 500k limit pertains to all current attachments to the board... so because I have 3 pics posted in various threads that are currently on the board, I have already used 317k of the 500k. So you might be in the same boat. Other than that missing portion, there is some looseness on the back part of the seat but I figure that's to accommodate for overstuffing the seat back pocket or a heavier person sitting in the seat and not over-stretching the leather covering too much.
  24. I just went out to the garage and checked mine, it has the exact same thing where it appears there a chunk missing about the size of a "half a moon pie" that is not present in that rear area right near the seam of the seat pocket. I wonder if it is by design since we have the exact same "fluke", check some other cars at the dealer and maybe some others here can post their observations from their cars too. My guess is that there's a reason for it, either for assembly, durability, difference in seat movement than the pax seat has, or something like that.
  25. I have seen a few postings on this over in www.fordsyncforum.com -- the bottom line is that the sync system is made by Microsoft, the nav system is made by Pioneer (if I remember right) and they are not yet fully integrated, so you have to give that introductory command to set the system down the right path, so to speak. Like I said, it's over at fordsyncforum and you can get a more detailed answer there.
