  1. This illustrates where the sensors are and how the system works. If you're asking if window tint obscures your view of the BLIS warning light in the mirror, the answer is no.
  2. That's quite a scenario you've painted there. Even with your additional audio equipment, 10 minutes isn't going to kill your battery, but try this company and see if they have anything that will work for you.
  3. You haven't given us very much information. Under what conditions do your brakes squeak/squeal? All the time, just in the morning until they warm up, light application, heavy application, etc? Brake noise is one of the most common automotive complaints and as much as you pooh-pooh your dealer's explanation, they are right on the money and this has been the case ever since asbestos was eliminated as the main friction component of brake pad/shoe construction. From trustmymechanic.com: Furthermore, depending on ambient conditions, rust can form on exposed rotor surfaces overnight. Rotors are made of iron and the braking surfaces are exposed to the elements. The rotors on my MKZ even form light surface rust when I wash the car, a matter of an hour. This rust will disappear with the first brake application. This can cause some initial squeal as well. So, your dealer is right on both counts. This problem cuts across all makes of cars, even far more expensive ones than your Fusion. Take a look at this bulletin to dealers from BMW Canada. No disrespect to you, but these people have paid even bigger bucks for their cars. This is from Edmunds.com: The Lexus GS 350 starts at $47G I know this doesn't alleviate your problem, but the point is that brake squeal has been a common complaint since the ban on use of asbestos and your dealer is giving you honest answers. It's not exclusive to Ford and the price of the car makes no difference. Do you do a lot of slow speed or stop and go driving? In that case, a glaze can sometimes form on the rotors which can cause brake noise. I'd suggest you find an empty parking lot and make a few hard stops from moderate speed, giving the the brakes time to cool between each stop. This might eliminate any rotor glaze and your squeal with it. If not , the next time you take the car in for service ask to speak to the service manager and politely but firmly make your feelings known. There might be other things they can try, such as putting a non-directional finish on your rotors. I hope this helps somewhat. Keep us posted.
  4. The radio playing for 10 minutes is not going to run down the battery. I often do that while sitting in the car and waiting for my wife to come out of a store, etc. It's never affected the battery. If that's his concern, he can just shut the radio off manually before exiting the car.
  5. Yes. Once again, it's very simple. If it doesn't meet Ford spec WSS-M2C930-A, you don't use it. From Amsoil's website: Amsoil 10W-30 synthetic does not meet Ford spec for your Fusion's engine. Therefore, you shouldn't use it.
  6. The moisture is on the outside of the glass and the tint film is on the inside. This isn't going to affect anything.
  7. Completely agree with your assessment, but if you use this method for setting your outside rear view mirrors, BLIS is rendered pretty much useless. It takes some getting used to but you'll be amazed at how much you can now see. With the mirrors set this way, I find that I see cars in my blind spot about a half to a full car length before the BLIS warning light comes on. The cross traffic alert, however, is much more useful. Again there's no substitute for looking but this does the looking for you when you can't see a thing. Yes, it does give occasional false alarms but I'm more than willing to put up with that.
  8. The MKZ comes with a cloth for the screen. The Lincoln star is on one side.
  9. I really thought that the adaptive HIDs were going to be a gimmick but I've found them to be quite helpful. My daughter moved to a home in a very dark area and they sure come in handy getting in and out of her driveway. They're even noticeable when I turn into my own street, which has only one streetlight in the middle of the block. I also love the way they do the self-check on startup, rotating to the right. Cool B)
  10. You can't assume anything. Look at your service ticket. When a TSB procedure is performed on a vehicle, it will be shown on the service ticket. What does yours say in response to your complaint? Have you spoken to the service manager about this? Is your car in the build date range for the TSB. You might just need a new driver's side mirror, or a new dealer.
  11. The SYNC voice prompts may have been turned off. Before you head to the dealer, try the troubleshooting tips on the syncmyride website. There's a wealth of useful information on the site.
  12. Well, I certainly can agree that too many consumers are guilty of not bothering to read the owners guide and, as a result, make warranty claims with no basis. I also agree that people can get creative with lawsuits, but I don't think Ford took the "easy cheap way out." I think there's a flaw the in BLIS in specific cars. I say this b/c I don't have these problems with my MKZ. On the rare occasions where I thought the warning was staying on too long, it eventually cleared itself without a restart once I got away from the "trigger," e.g., center median, guard rail, plus there is a TSB for this issue.
  13. What risk would Ford be at if you hit somebody b/c of a BLIS malfunction? OM:
  14. You can just barely make it out in this pic I got off ebay.
  15. Allen, the Nissan Maxima had a door keypad from 1985 to the early 90s. They called it "Digital Touch Entry System." It was on both front doors to boot. So, there is a history of other mfrs. using one. They probably dropped it because RKE came into vogue about then. Poacheggs, for a keypad for your Pilot, try this outfit
  16. Yes. The anti-lockout function only works with the power door lock button.
  17. Just curious, but what is the point of doing this?
