Great Car...But Will Never Buy Another Until One Thing Fixed
Hybrider replied to Phil3's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
What blows me away is that to me gkinla's FFH looks so much more sportier than the Aston-Martin does in this shot. -
I applaud them for trying to rank the "greenness" of vehicles, but it is not something which I think is very easy to assess. If you assigned 10 different people to come up with a way to assess the greenness of various autos, I'm sure they would come up with 10 very different orders for ranking the autos. Consider that many people lament the impact of the lithium production on the environment, and that greenercars.org doesn't seem to use that data in their rankings at all. In the greenercars.org rankings, one rating that jumps out at me as being very incorrect is the rating for the Lexus CT 200h. The greenercars.org table shows the CT 200h as having city/hwy MPGs of 51/48, yet the 2015 and 2016 EPA ratings both show the CT 200h as having ratings of 43/40. Another interesting tidbit to me is that, after the Focus Electric, the next 3 Ford models in the rankings are all gas models, either Fiesta or Focus.

In my FFH, my experience during city driving at speeds of up to 50 MPH has been that having the A/C on drops my MPGs much more than having 3 of the windows open about 2-3 inches each.

Great Car...But Will Never Buy Another Until One Thing Fixed
Hybrider replied to Phil3's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
My FFH sedan and my previous '04 Buick Century sedan have trained me to not drive the intuitive straight path through driveway entrances/exits, but to drive through them at an angle to prevent scraping the underneath of the front-end. -
Regen Braking Issue When Turning
Hybrider replied to acdii's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Suspension & Parking Aid
I was thinking this same thing, that you are either _in_ an ABS event, or you are _not in_ an ABS event. I would think that it would take someone a whole lot of ride time, in a whole lot of different cars to know when any particular car is "nearing an ABS event", especially under various different driving conditions. I would think that even within the same model year of FFHs, each FFH would enter into an ABS event at differing points, even with the exact same scenario of driving conditions, which would be practically impossible to replicate exactly twice in a row, even in the same car. -
Added some grille mods to my 2013 FFH...hot or not? UPDATED

Looks good to me...something different, but not outlandish. -
The 3.8 version of Sync shows up on my Sync page, for my 2014 FFH.

I uploaded the latest versions of the 2016 Fusion and 2016 Fusion Energi Order Guides in this post. One of the more interesting changes I noticed in the change list in the Fusion Order Guide is: Deleted Tectonic and Guard as optional colors as they are no longer available to order in Color and Trim Availability page

From looking at the 2016 Fusion Order Guide, a gas Fusion with the 1.5 EB engine can have the BLIS/Lane-keeping and Adaptive Cruise options on it as long as it is an SE and also has the SE Luxury Package.

Request for City driving tips video for MPG, with commentary
Hybrider replied to Wyotesthybrid's topic in Fuel Mileage
Oh, and the best trick for city driving is if you can time the traffic lights so that you never have to stop, and can cruise for many miles at a constant 30-40 MPH, then your MPGs will go through the roof. -
Request for City driving tips video for MPG, with commentary
Hybrider replied to Wyotesthybrid's topic in Fuel Mileage
It seems to me that a video fitting this request would end up being quite long, since the best gas mileage is achieved on longer drives, say greater than 15-20 miles. Not only that, but there are many different driving situations which can be encountered, which should be included in such a video, such as city driving, congested city driving, low-speed city driving with many stops, highway driving, highway driving with hills, highway driving with mountains, etc., etc., etc. Getting good gas mileage in any car, hybrid or gas, all boils down to minimizing the energy consumption used to propel the vehicle and decreasing the energy wasted stopping the vehicle. So accelerating gentler, reaching lower top speeds, coasting instead of braking, and if needed very gradual braking (for brake scores of 100% or better) will ensure you get the best MPGs possible. :) -
12v battery dead after two weeks (twice)
Hybrider replied to Tgederberg's topic in Batteries & Charging
Just as another datapoint, I was just on business travel for a full 3 weeks, and my wife agreed to drive my FFH for a few miles at least once a week. Needless to say, with me being gone, she had more than her share of household chores to do, so she never got around to driving my car at all. After having not started my FFH for a full 3 weeks, it started right up, and has had no BSMs, nor any other wonkiness which a dying battery can cause. My FFH has also gone through 2 full summers of extreme desert heat, whereas batteries in gas cars around here usually only last up to 3 years tops due to the excessive heat, and sometimes the regular 12V batteries only last 2 years around here. I attribute my good luck so far with my 12V battery to the fact that I special-ordered my car, so the battery didn't have a chance to sit on a sales lot and go dead. -
For the gas Fusions which are equipped with 16" tires/wheels, the measurements are 215/60HR16 for the tires, and 16" x 6.5" for the wheels. I personally would fork out the money for the TPMS just to have the added safety.

You can even keep going up the FoMoCo chain since the MKZ-h has features that the HyTi does not have.

I was thinking that since the 4.2" display seems to be designed to only show a single mode, versus it being possible on the MFT to display 4 modes at the same time in their respective quadrants, that the software on the 4.2" display might only show the "Climate" mode for a certain period of time before it times out and then the display is switched to show another mode such as the "Entertainment" mode. If that is the case, where the "Climate" mode times out, then it seems like depressing any climate-related buttons might bring the"Climate" mode back onto the display for some duration of time.
-
That is probably because I don't have the heated seats, which seems to take up half of the real estate of where my big buttons are located.

Thanks for the offer, Meagan, but I try to avoid service calls like they are the plague, unless a crucial feature is unbearably malfunctioning or a major part has fallen off. ;) Fortunately this is just a teeny tiny annoyance so far, so I'll manage to live with it, so long as it doesn't start interfering with my climate control functions.

It doesn't get much hotter than this (114°) in an FFH. Of course I had the A/C on during my 25 mile commute home keeping me plenty cool, and even with that and the slightly increasing elevation (400') on the way home, I was able to get 48 MPG on my trip stats while driving on city streets. :bliss:

My ambient temp sensor seems to be fairly accurate, based on local airport reports and also on my outdoor temp sensor at home. And here in AZ, we can really pick up heat off of the road. :) My only issue with the ambient temp sensor is that sometimes when I start up the car after it has been sitting for a few hours, the displayed temp will be stuck on the temp it was at when I turned the car off, and it can remain stuck at that old temp for up to about 5 minutes before it shows the current actual temp.

The base 2016 HSH SE has a different grill from the model above, but it is still not very attractive to me. It is rather difficult to get a clear view of what this grill really looks like online, such as what geometric shape the openings really are.

Compact spare tire for 2016 Fusion Hybrid P225 50 R16
Hybrider replied to Marksclu's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Let me help you out CC. :) http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6163-spare-tire-for-fusion-hybrid/ -
I didn't even snap that the grill on the HSH above was also divided vertically, basically into two separate sections, one on either side of the Hyundai logo badge, until comparing it against your photoshopped image. My eyes and brain joined the horizontal lines of two sections of that grill into continuous lines going all the way across, at least above the license plate sized plastic piece in the center.
