    2014 BMW 328d

At the time I saw a preview article for the 328d, I read that the car was anticipated to be priced in the range of the HyTi. The mpg is ~43, so I thought that the 328d would be compared to the HyTi... That turned out to be wrong as the 328d starts at $38,600. Oh well.
  2. Now that I've had more time to ride in the car (love it, btw), I don't see a need for a deflector. I guess that this topic is done now. Thanks everyone.

    2014 BMW 328d

At least. The 328d competes with the MKZ more than the Passat or FFH.
  4. What? Zombies like hybrids??? Or do they really like plug-in hybrids?
  5. Discussion also taking place in this thread: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/5600-mud-flaps-anyone/

    Mud Flaps anyone?

I just finished mine - official FFH body-molded ones like those shown above. They are easy to install but the back ones do require extra time as they are screws instead of push-pins. Echoing what's above, it takes about 20m for the front and about 30m for the rear (times are very conservative). There's NO need to have a dealer do it. The instructions are super easy to follow. You only need a torque wrench with a 7mm socket (no extension) and a small flat screwdriver. A light and small mirror would help initially for location of the screws, but they're not really needed. After finishing, I wonder why they weren't just included. They really should have been.
  7. The LEDs are white and the letters on the plates are blue. The kit shouldn't be as expensive as it is... but it is very nice once installed. I wonder why the Titaniums didn't come with it standard. Anyways, like everyone said, it takes about two hours or so because of unfamiliarity. The only thing to look out for is removing the dome light/sunglasses unit because there are fragile tabs that are easily broken (and they don't look easily replaceable). Everything else just snaps off/on. The splicing and soldering is challenging only because of the tight space. All in all, it's not a difficult installation. The instructions - which are only pictures - are great. Oh, I... uhh... validated why you don't want to close doors or the trunk with the battery disconnected....
  8. Sure. Use a practical test... This is the forum. You've got to have a link to a youtube video that describes in minute 53 of 245 that it can only be done at 3AM on Tuesdays, right? -KLH
  9. I have a new FFH SE. how can I tell the version of hybrid engine software the car is running? What's the latest version - the one that allows EV at 85mph?
  10. Small LED ring light around the keyhole or the PBS button like this:
  11. I didn't realize that. I was having too much fun driving to notice. Huh. I love finding new things to play with. I must admit, I think that I love my FFH car! Nah, we're on the same page... but I would explore getting an ugly semi-permanent wind deflector if I had to. I love the open air feel of the moonroof.
  12. Has anyone made a light for this? Since the door sills tap into the map lights, it can't be too hard to create a keyhole mod...
  13. So... it's a glossy sticker that provides a "layer of protection" on the bumper next to the trunk? It's hard to believe that it's more than $10... I'm going to have to think about this.
  14. Has anyone installed (or had installed) a moonroof wind deflector on their 2013+ FFH? Is it needed? Does it greatly reduce wind noise? I find it curious that no one has mentioned this as a great-to-have accessory. I ask this because my last car (Honda CRV) had one and the reflector dramatically reduced wind noise when the moonroof was open. On my FFH, I notice that wind noise isn't too bad until you fully open up the roof. I'd like insight into whether a deflector can reduce the noise or if they are hard to install. As I've read that several deflectors (Auto Ventshade) are secured by only tape(!) and - since they aren't made for specific cars - may not even fit our FFH correctly. What has been your experience?
  15. The call quality may be due to any one of these: phone, bluetooth, car environment, microphone, carrier, signal strength, and volume of voice traffic being handled by carrier at your location. When it comes down to it, it's amazing that calls work at all. In any case, I have a Galaxy Note 2 (on Verizon) and haven't received a complaint about voice quality... yet.
  16. Nevermind. I just found out (via the SyncMyRide.com site) that there's a version checker. My Sync/MFT is indeed up-to-date. This is a rather kludgy process to expect regular people to follow (uploading an .XML???? Really???). Why not just connect the car to WiFi, pull the update, and report it to Ford? I suppose the answer is that not everyone has MFT...
  17. I have just purchased a new 2013 FFH-ES and just created an account on syncmyride.com. The site just notified me that I should install the new Sync/MFT update. After unzipping it to a flashdrive, I plugged the flashdrive into my car. Sync immediately recognized the update and started to install it... but stopped 5 seconds in saying that the update has already been applied. (Nice touch, dealer!) My question is this: How can we see what version of Sync/MFT the car has? I can't find the versions anywhere.
  18. I recently had a 2004 Honda CRV. As I commute ~120 miles per day which leads to ~600 miles per week, I noticed that I was burning ~$500 in gas monthly. That's a car payment, folks. Since I have a family, I looked for family-friendly cars that are great in gas mileage and came up with this list: * FFH (obviously) * FFH Energi (too expensive and trunk is too small) * Volkswagen Passat TDI * Honda Accord Plugin (I don't like the split screen layout) * Honda Accord Hybrid (soon to be released; I don't like the split screen layout) * BMW 328d (soon to be released) Tossing out the obvious from above, I focused on the Passat, the FFH, and the new 328d. IMHO, the Passat is a great car. For my case, it would work very well. Unfortunately, it's technical features are severely underwhelming. In addition, all the reviews view the car as under-powered. While I could probably deal with one or the other, I'm not about to choose a car with both deficiencies... So the Passat wasn't for me. Of all the cars, the new BMW 328d was the one that actually peaked my interest the most... solely because of the brand and cache. When I started digging, I started to realize that the 328d wasn't in direct competition with the FFH; BMW is going after the Passat. As such, they stuck a smaller engine in their most popular car and promoting the hell out of it as a premium! Sure it can achieve great highway gas mileage... but guess what? When combined with city driving, it performs about the same as the Passat... but it's more expensive! Is cache worth a $10k premium for less performance? I don't think so. We'll see if anyone else agrees with me. So I just took delivery of the FFH-SE and I love it. Actually, I'm going to post this then get up and drive it! Laters!
  19. New 2013 FFH-SE TB owner here! Tuxedo Black is the new Black. You can bet on it.
  20. I just picked her up last night. She's a 2013 FFH-SE in TB with just about everything that the SE allows: * Moonroof * Nav * Luxury Package (Black heated leather seats and steering wheel) * Adaptive Cruise Control * Parking Assist * MFT * BLIS * Rear View Camera * Reverse Sensing System The only things missing from the Titanium model are remote start, PBS, and the Sony stereo. I can live without those... After doing a LOT of homework, I was able to get a fantastic deal (PM if you wish to know) and great financing. Of course, that may have had something to do with buying on the last day of a month - which was also a quarter end - and buying the last new car from the previous year. But maybe I was just lucky (yeah, right). Thanks for the welcome! I look forward to helping others and contributing on the forum. -KLH
  21. BMW has a new 3 series diesel car that gets 45 mpg highway... http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2014-bmw-328d-diesel-sedan-first-drive-review Seems like the Passat TDI has new competition!
  22. I'm almost a new 2013 FFH SE owner. As such, I reasoned that it's time to actually create an account instead of just lurking. I said almost because internet problems at the dealership kept the Finance officer from working on my financing. I'm excited to be with the cool kids... -KLH
