So this is interesting - Hybrid Payback Period
jtbogus replied to Howie411's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Payback? My neighbor is getting his FFE for free! He was driving a six speed 435hp Camaro 100mi rt to work for a $600./mo gas bill. Now he averages about $100./mo, paying for the car handily. Thats pretty nice payback. -

Dashcam Videos of Bad ICE Drivers
jtbogus replied to darrelld's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
What kind of DashCam are you using, was it hard to install, how much was it? Looks great to me. JT -
How does the ENERGI warm the cabin without starting the ICE?
-
This is exactly what I do also. BRILLIANT idea, are you listening FORD?

Update, got the new mat today, put it right into the trunk. It fits like a glove and covers all the space below the batteries and up the sides an inch and a half or so. Seems a little lighter than the floor mats, but that's probably because it's really not that big. Waited a long time for them to design it, but I like it, I think I'll keep it. JT

Center (floor) console rattle
jtbogus replied to expresspotato's topic in Interior Trim, Seats, Seat Belts & Covers
It's been in for 2 oil changes and the required Service Bulletins. Replaced the hand hold above the drivers seat, and that's about it. If it makes you feel any better, the trunk just started squeaking! -
Center (floor) console rattle
jtbogus replied to expresspotato's topic in Interior Trim, Seats, Seat Belts & Covers
Actually, it's not official. I have had my 2013 for just over one year, have almost 18,000 miles on it, and have yet to hear one rattle on it, even on the pothole strewn NYC roads. Fit and finish are as good as my MB, and it was 1/2 the price. -
Wasn't me either, but the Bordeaux w/Dune is a GREAT looking combo. Surprised it was discontinued.
-
My flat tire/blow out experience is that there is generally not enough tire left to patch and fill, so I too bought an unused Focus spare at a local junk yard for $50. and a jack on ebay for $45. It all fits in the trunk where it's supposed to be. Now if I could only find those little marks on the bottom of the frame to place the jack on........

Battery Saver Message, Solved, My Experience
jtbogus replied to rvlasek's topic in Batteries & Charging
Good point, now if we could only find an AGM battery that fits our battery tray without cutting it! The old "solar charger in the rear window connected directly to the battery" trick works pretty well so far, but I will NOT replace my LVB with another toy battery from Ford, free or not! -

I ran the wires under the back shelf by the left rear seatbelt directly into the battery compartment and connected it to the battery using ring connectors. I got the solar unit at Harbor Freight for about $12.00 I think. Not a big one, but it is charging all day long. It shows a little blinking blue LED when it is actually producing power. -

Thanks, and yes, I understand that. My point was that the little LVB doesn't last very long on its own. Still would love to have an Optima battery. -
Battery Saver Message, Solved, My Experience
jtbogus replied to rvlasek's topic in Batteries & Charging
Are there any other options for a better LVB besides Ford? Will a slightly larger size battery fit? I can only listen to the radio for about 5 mins with the key off before It automatically shuts down to protect the LVB. I keep a small solar charger on the rear shelf connected all the time, and that seems to take care of the batt state when I leave it for a long time. Never had to do that with any other car I have owned. I would love to see Optima Batteries come up with our size. But then again I would love to see someone make a decent trunk liner for our 200,000 FFH's. Am I asking too much? -
What, no Bordeaux? No class! JT ps- Just got back from Yankee Stadium and the place was crawling with NYPD FFH's from 2012's to 2014's. They keep them pretty clean, too.
-
Ford must be pretty serious about the FFH to drop 8 million on (2) 30 sec spots. I guess they figure the can make enough at the new US plant to meet demand. Hope so. JT

Come on now, 15 Gigawatts, to charge 12v batteries? How can that be, even with Ford batteries? JT
