  1. I had the first one replaced under warranty. I immediately placed a strip of black electricians tape on - just about the width of the frame - and it has worked great ever since. Not very noticeable either.
  2. Or turn the heater on hottest temperature.
  3. Here's an update to the transmission failures thread. I have 2013 FFH. I winter in AZ from BC Canada. I tow the vehicle as per the RV towing procedure in the manual and have towed it back and forth 5 seasons now. The car has 65000 miles on it. The car started to make the knife sharpener noise while here down south and I took it AutoNation Ford in Scottsdale last week. The overzealous tech that reported the noise to the Ford hot line also told them I had a tow kit on the car. Ford cut and pasted the page from the manual that dealt with emergency towing, not bothering to turn to the next page that specifies the Ford procedure for being towed by an RV. They were trying to imply I had abused the car by towing it. They were trying to weasel out of warranty coverage because I didn't follow the emergency procedure - max 35mph for 50 miles?. The next section has the RV procedure - start ICE once before towing daily, run for 1 minute, max 70 mph. The 2018 manual now includes start once every 6 hours or less. The latest SB from Ford gets the dealer to tear down the tranny and the result of the inspection will either be replace just bearings or whole transmission. Still not 100% positive it will be warranty. Oh well, always wanted to learn about small claims court back home in Canada. Pretty hard to deny 5 years of owners manuals instructions in a court of law. This was just an FYI for any other "toweds" that might have a similar experience.
  4. He could have braked easily but one news source said watching a DVD prevented him from seeing the problem! I like the FFH's use of radar to sense approaching objects but it is annoying when it starts to brake for a cyclist on the shoulder - along with the collision alert!
  5. One of the items in the transmission leak TSB is a an alignment. I don't have the invoice here but you can check the TSB work order. Ford pays for the alignment as the front end has to be disassembled and reassembled.
  6. I replaced a forward "pan" last year. Car was still under warranty. Pan wasn't. Figured it was rodent damage at the park we were staying at last winter. Not as bad as the guy with the Chevy Duramax 1 ton that had $2500 chewing done to his engine compartment wires. This year he has an electric fence mat underneath. He wants a critter cam for Christmas lol.
  7. For all those that want the 3.8 update but cannot get it from the owners website. I called Ford In Vehicle Technology today. Canadian number 1-800-565-3673 (Select #1 for English, #2 for French, and then select 3 > 1) . They are aware of the owner.com screwup (confidence inspiring) and you have 2 choices. Wait til they manually add it to each owners website - no time frame or get the dealer to do it FREE for up to 12 months after the release date, Oct2015. Inspite of their tie in with Android Auto, no word on when they will do the same thing for Android phones "OK Google" -same as Siri- for those of us from the darkside. Their explanation of the updates on 3.8 are basically what has been floating around. Improved connectivity, auto reconnection with paired devices, improved bluetooth capabilities, faster execution of commands, Siri eyes free and the one we all have been demanding, navigation in China - if you spend the money on a Chinese map!
  8. They utilise different satellites in different orbits. Thats why the dropouts. In the mountains on Highway 1 near where I live in BC, there are spots up to 20 miles long I had no reception on my XM Hyundai where both my Ranger and HyTi excel. http://www.n2yo.com/whats-up/?c=33
  9. Just a WAG but have you disabled the stability control system to see if that has an effect on the symptoms?
  10. I think the lack of a transmission pump is more to do with cooling than oil starvation - otherwise my transmission would have dropped out on the side of the road while towing?. 5100 miles and counting and fingers crossed!
  11. The only way I can get altitude info is via bezel diagnostics - the old eject and next preset simultaneously. Even though I have metric units set the readout is in feet, and lat and long is in decimal degrees as opposed to the DMS on the "where am I screen" on MFT.
