  1. One of many offering you a warm welcome. We are a community of honest, polite and Fusion loving folks.
  2. Yeah, pretty quiet. The FFHF is the place to be I guess.
  3. Info about self driving Fusions. With pictures http://news.yahoo.com/ford-demos-driverless-fusion-hybrid-163113140.html
  4. I love the smell of a good science lesson in the morning! Seriously, thanks for the info.
  5. Nicely done brother! good pics too
  6. Wow! Really nice man. Thanks for sharing those! At Brookgreen Gardens, where I volunteer, one of the galleries has a Christmas display that includes trains being run. Nothing elaborate, but still very nice. So enjoyable to watch them run.
  7. Let us know if the temp actually reaches 20 degrees inside! ;) Hope it works properly for you now.
  8. If you sit in your car and talk to your neighbor for 5 or 10 minutes with the engine running you might be wasting fuel.
  9. My neighbor, a single woman, drives a Ford Edge, and upon seeing our hybrid considered the CMAX, but it wasn't quite to her liking. Now if there had been an Edge hybrid option I think she would have bought it. She does a lot of highway driving each year. To your point, there definitely needs to be more real hybrid options for larger vehicles. Ford and a few others are making larger sedans, but that's about it right now.
  10. I use my Fusion as my commuter and my Mustang as my Hauler- hauling a%# that is!
  11. Nicely done! I found a canvas container with rigid sides that slides in that area and stays in place nicely. I carry a spare and jack where the foam insert used to live. That device now lives in some landfill, where it belongs! I got my canvas thingy at Homegoods. It has rope handles so I can grab it and pull it out easily. Great place for reusable bags, a plastic sheet to protect the trunk from wet items, umbrellas, bungees, etc. I didn't need to store much in there.
  12. I did the same thing. Got the parts when I bought a license place surround (one of those chrome things with a plastic cover for the plate) to dress up the area.
  13. Edmunds and Greencarreport have driven it, as have the Nydaily news and Tree Hugger. They have some great photos of the engine, electric motors and battery pack. Also Pupular Mechanics, Motor Trend and Auto Week. Car and Driver hasn't yet that I know of. I corrected my previous post- thanks for questioning that- I misspoke. The Motor Trend article is perhaps the most revealing and in-depth. Here are the details on their mileage results: Honda Accord Hybrid fuel economySan Antonio, TX to Vega, TX -- 502 miles, 39.2 mpg (mostly at 75 mph) Vega, TX to Alamosa, CO -- 429 miles, 37.7 mpg (climbing elevation, 65-70 mph) Alamosa, CO to Kingman, AZ -- 596 miles, 45.8 mpg (a lot of 65-mph driving) Kingman, AZ to Los Angeles, CA -- 323 miles, 44.0 mpg (mostly at 70 mph) Total -- 1850 miles, 41.5 mpg, 63 mph average speed Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/alternative/1310_2014_honda_accord_hybrid_touring_first_test/#ixzz2muBcKmVo
  14. What makes those truths even more odd is the fact the the average MPG that manufacturers are being required to hit, under CAFE rules, is very achievable. To what TIMF said, yes, why aren't there some true hybrid options for anything other than sedans? I think Honda has a hit coming with their Accord Hybrid, but how about their van or the small SUVs? Honda does sell diesel vans by the way, just not in the U.S. I get why people like bigger vehicles, and I think the demand is there for them to be much more fuel efficient. America will always be the land of long distance drivers, who want to haul people and stuff in comfort. I live in a tourist area, and I see a majority of visitors driving larger vehicles, not 2 or 4 door sedans. I don't think most of them would care if the vehicle had a diesel or a real hybrid. Subaru has come out with some kind of strange "hybrid" that uses a little electric motor, but really doesn't improve mileage, nor is it a real hybrid. I think they said that they are afraid to compromise the functionality that their customers want. In places I have traveled to in Europe the vehicles are almost always small to very small, and diesel. We probably won't see many diesels, but there are some signs of change finally. Fuel prices are often significantly higher for diesel, which of course holds down demand for those engines. Maybe with more demand prices will equalize a bit.
  15. A spare is designed to be kept at a higher pressure of course, and I think 50 is the right amount. That's what my dealer recommended when he mounted my spare. The pressure on the sidewall is the maximum, which at 50PSI you would leave room for heat expansion of the air in a hot environment, and when running at high speed. Of course you aren't supposed to run the spares too far, but in some cases you might not be able to help it. Let's say you are going from Mpls to Bismarck, and all you see for many miles are signs for turn offs that say "no services". On the plains those are not town names are they? We once were traveling to Bismarck in a whiteout, and in -20 temps at night, and running out of gas. We pulled into a little town, which had 1 station, and no services. As we were sitting there (pre-cell phone) a police cruiser asked if he could help. He woke up the station owner, and the owner came out to fill us up!
  16. I wish you would clean it a little better before posting a picture! I use this product also, and swear by it.
  17. I have only used the heated seats a couple of times, and very recently, but as I recall when NOT using remote start they do not come on. "Unfortunately" it has been too warm to try them that past couple of days. I assumed they would run just like the AC does when you use remote start, which is to say the AC comes on. That's the real beauty of remote for me. I'm sure someone else will have info on this, vis a vis the seats.
  18. I wish the European wagon version was available here. Maybe it will be in the future. Even Mercedes is still making wagons that are for sale here.
  19. While not available until at least January, the new Accord Hybrid is proving that it can reach and exceed their EPA mileage rating. It basically has no transmission, and a very large electric motor. Green Car Reports and Motor Trend have driven it extensively. They both report that its mileage is excellent, and leads the pack for mid sized sedans. It equals the "P", which is no mean feat for a sedan that size. The interior is close to or on a par with the Fusion, its driveability is almost Fusion quality. At least according to these early reports. The drive train is pretty smooth, but it whines loudly under brisk acceleration apparently. I noticed that the center stack is kind of amazingly large and confusing. It starts with what appears to be an 8 inch screen, under a flared section of the top of the dash. . Under that is a very traditional looking radio module, with a touch screen, except for a large volume know on the left. Then under that is the full panel of climate controls. Finally, at the bottom is some kind of control panel that may be for Nav/phone/settings? I can't wait to see what Consumer Reports has to say about all those areas. If they hated the Fusions they should really dislike the Accords. They appear to have hit a home run.
  20. "from a distance" Like a stalker? haha
  21. I used to tell people, when asked if I was worried about hurricanes, that I would rather take the chance of one, rather than the certainty of 6 months of Winter every year. The last hurricane here was '89, and I live inland far enough to be"officially" off of the flood plane. Hopefully! My house is put together for hurricane winds, and I have window coverings too. And a generator
  22. Cool brother! No one in my class comes to mind. It certainly wasn't me, although my picture was in the yearbook while I was cutting class riding in a convertible by the building.
  23. As I have said many times to many people and written in many places online- the only way I will get rid of my Mustang convertible is with another newer one. I think this new generation will be a winner, and I already want one! Only Ford had the cajones to keep making their pony car, and for good reason. It's an icon and a winner. BTW, no one else should even use the name "pony car", since it referred to Mustang to begin with. Here in the South they are everywhere; the rest of the 'not pony cars', not so much.
  24. How about if we just install a cold air intake, and get a tuner? Works on my Mustang! haha
