I thought it had something to do with close by locations, i.e. within 15 or 20 miles of 'home'.

No idea what that is. Maybe the carpet was supposed to cover that area. I don't remember seeing that in mine, but it might look like that. I'll take a look. Yep, same in mine.

I have used the remote start many times, and I live in South Carolina, plus I travel to Florida, where I am now in my 2nd week here in the southern end. Yes, the remote down windows are nice, which includes the sun roof, but really, just using remote start is enough, because in 30 seconds the interior is much more comfortable when I park in the sun. I used to use the auto down feature on my last car, which did help get some heat out as I walked up to the car, but the remote start is even better. 'course, I am not saving fuel using that, but I love it regardless.

parked 3-4 days hv battery discharges ??
dalesky replied to tempforce's topic in Batteries & Charging
I would not assume that it is actually discharge. I can't think why that would be the case. Any drain should be on the normal car battery, for things like security system, settings such as radio and nav, etc. Anyone have any knowledge on this? I do have a long trip planned and am wondering myself. -
Yeah, no question that the wheel is assisted by the car. That's a feature of electric steering instead of physical. I can easily feel the pull of the steering, and it does tend to try to steer thru a curve. I have no idea how it knows if I am in the lane center, but I have noticed on a very narrow 2 lane road the lines stay white, instead of being green. A very cool feature.

I love the trim level and handling of my HyTi, and only wish I could have chosen the light colored leather seats. Leather is the only way to go, and they are actually cooler, and warmer, than cloth. I think the leather is a very high grade, thick and sturdy. Get a good windshield cover, and get your windows tinted. If you are sure it won't rain, crack the sunroof- you are getting sunroof, aren't you?- and or get the plastic window vent covers which allow you to crack the windows without being noticed, or susceptible to rain getting in. I don't have the auto cruise thingy, but love the BLIS and cross traffic features, and use the ECO cruise constantly. Mileage is mostly a matter of driving like a hybrid is designed to be driven, which is an adjustment perhaps, but results in very good mileage. My first freeway trip netter 44 MPG, to 40 MPG at between 60 to 75 MPH. In town I can frequently get low or high forties, even low fifties at times. My car has been 100% perfect with the exception of the drivers window auto up and down. I learned how to fix that so it's not a problem. Might be fixed with a software tweak by the dealer, but it's infrequent, and I avoid the dealer if possible. I find the seats to be very supportive. I am average size and weight, and they fit me great. That means close to 6 ft, and under 175 lb. My wife is closer to 5 ft and they fit her well also. Have to have the memory seats too. Good luck with your decision, and remember to bargain with the salesperson, who will negotiate if pressed.

I find mine very useful. Yes, they can't be prescient, they have to actually see the traffic, but if I go slowly they warn me before I am aware sometimes. True that sometimes they see solid object such as when I back out of my garage, but that is to be expected. I know what you mean about bigger vehicles on both sides. Whenever possible I pick an end spot with only one possible 'neighbor'. That helps me somewhat. Maybe we should lobby Ford for a telescopic device like a submarine uses. I believe an episode of Seinfeld had one of those for a car!

I am surprised to hear that studded tires are legal anywhere. I used them in the 70's when I had a big V8 Ford, and I could spin them at will on dry pavement. On ice and packed snow they were the bomb, but yes, they tore up roads, drives and were downright scary on very cold days. Some folks wouldn't let you drive on their driveway with them. I love the lane keeping feature. During this trip to Florida I am using it often, and am impressed.

USB stick for music playback
dalesky replied to alpha754293's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
They are currently arranged all under the root directory, alphabetically. Each disc is in its own folder, labeled with the name of the book, and then disc 1, disc 2, etc. Don't think I can improve on that . Inside each folder the chapter names are all 01 01.wma, 02 02.wma, etc. so i have to keep the folders intact, because of the chapter names being the same in each disc folder. Stuck with it the way it is I guess. Thanks for the idea tho -
Every manufacturer sets their cars up to maximize the MPG using the EPA testing cycle. I can't think of any that actually deliver what their EPA tests show. It's simply a proven technique. It's like virtually all advertising- mostly made up to sell a product.

USB stick for music playback
dalesky replied to alpha754293's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
On the trip today to Orlando I ran a couple of books off of the memory stick. You have to select each disc that you have copied, since when one ends it does not automatically find the next one. No big deal if there are 2 people in the car, or traffic is very light and you can look away a bit. Played the books very well at least. -
The way the EPA has structured the tests I don't blame the manufacturers really. I do wish there was an honest attempt to show real world numbers, but until everyone agrees on how to do that I guess we have to read the reviews, like Consumer Reports and others that do give honest figures. I would not be surprised to see that Honda is doing exactly what every other manufacturer is doing. Given the horsepower of their electric motor, it will take some significant amount of ICE fuel to run it.

Made a part of my 1st road trip of any length, from Murrells Inlet (Myrtle Beach area) thru Charleston, up 95 to Orlando. At speeds under 70 it was easy to get the EV running, and average around 45. Once on the freeway the average dropped to 42 for most of that portion. Not unhappy at all, since I like getting over 40 at those speeds. No problem seeing the EV at 70 or over. never exceeded 73, but using eco cruise the EV came on quite a bit. AC on auto, outside temp 90-93, and air set at 73 deg. What really impresses is how solid the car is, quiet, smooth, and tracks like a bb in a tube. With the lane assist on I definitely felt the car pulling me in a straight line, and once in a while I got some haptic feedback which is pretty impressive. Not sure how it keeps you in the lane, but it does! I'm sure I could have driven the whole distance on a tank, which is significant given the 13 gallon tank. 465 miles or more, I love it!

USB stick for music playback
dalesky replied to alpha754293's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I have been known to "rescue" old laptops from the pile at the recycle center, bring them home, pull the HD out, reformat it, and insert it into a drive carrier for use via USB cable. I plan on trying out one of them as a music drive. Anyone know if there is an accessible hard drive in the car itself? -
Copying and playing books on CD
dalesky replied to dalesky's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Will have to find out- leaving on a trip tomorrow. I just verified that the files were there and that they played, just like using a CD. -
My fully loaded Titanium has been flawless, I just over 5 months of daily driving. I don't think mine is the exception. Drivers window may not go up on auto sometimes, but that is the only flaw, and I know how to correct that.

Last night, auto start to cool the car before I got in, AC at 74, trip of about 15 miles at speeds up to 65, I got 55 MPG. Diesel, schmiesel! We don't need no stinking diesel, do we?
-
Here too the price difference is quite large. It's a shame since we have such good year round weather and a diesel is so easy to live with in warmer climates especially.

Wonder how they are getting this high city figure with a sedan this large. I know Toyota is redesigning the Prius, and expects to have higher city mileage as well.
-
I remember the last Accord attempt, which nobody bought, mainly because of the price. This time it seems they may have done much better. That dash tho! Could there be any more screens to look at? I really like the FFH approach.

Copying and playing books on CD
dalesky replied to dalesky's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Those books are so interesting! The original Swedish movies are amazing too by the way. Got mine used on half.com. Tried out the memory stick, and the books I copied came out fine, even the cover art! -
Adaptive cruise control might have saved the car...
dalesky replied to Eddie Sessum's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Glad to hear that you survived. Like all of you I dislike drivers who act like they are special and cram their way in instead of waiting their turn. Oh they are special, but I won't say what. -
Taking a trip soon, and I stopped by the library to pick up a couple of books on CD. At home I broke out the 16GB flash drive, and started copying each disc to it. Chose to copy using WMA 48000bps rate. MUCH faster than the 96000 rate, and I have room for a number of books. I am ripping just 12 discs, and may put some music on it too. Playing the books is straight forward. Insert the stick, start the car (engine on or accessories) choose entertainment and the stick should be visible, with the album art even. Really pleased with, especially in light of having only a single CD player. I used Cyberlink Power2Go software.

First time I saw love bugs I couldn't believe what a mess they made. If you don't get them off quickly they become like cement

Honey badger just don't care, it doesn't give a s*%#. Ew, look at him eating that cobra! That tire is nothing to him.
