Managed to get a 10 mile jpurney at 46mpg this morning, no doubt as a result of higher temperatures, mid 40's and the fact the car was warmed up from a drive to the dealer an hour before. Going to love the spring and summer just need to get the last few of winter out the way and decent mpg will be upon us.

Empower, Inform, Enlighten, or Engage?
storksb replied to coach81's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I tend to use mainly empower but do flick back and forward to MyView which has temp and power distribution. I like how quick easy it is to jump between options. Simon -
Positive Comments ONLY about MPG, Hybrid tips & Powertrain
storksb replied to hybridbear's topic in General Discussion
Another positive I would like to bring forward is all the comments I get from total strangers on how great the 2013 FFH looks. A cement truck driver stopped next to me yesterday and remarked what a great looking car it was. Never had that happen when I had my GTi and certainly would not happen if I had a Camry.- 38 replies

Reading the issues you are having acdii it sounds like you may have a bad thermostat that is not closing when cold. This could account for the fouled plugs as it will run richer when cold. Have you had the dealer test the thermostat? Might have them check thermostat on Thursday if I can convince them to look at it and not blame the gas.

Thanks for all the replies, I thought they were probably blowing smoke but like to get other opinions. Well discuss with them on Thursday I have the MFT updated. storksb

Called my dealer regarding a couple of issues I am having and mentioned the less than stellar mpg, he asked what gas I was using and when I said Regular 87 to said I needed to be running 93 due to the ethanol content, I think this is bogus but looking for opinion from other owners. Any thoughts? May try a tank of premium but not hopeful on the results. storksb

Oil Change Info for 2013+ Hybrid/Energi
storksb replied to jeff_h's topic in Maintenance & Do It Yourself
I have never understood this 3000 mile oil change interval that persists here in the States. I drive cars in Europe for 15 years and the shortest oil change interval 20years ago was 7500 miles. I'll be going the full 10000 on my Fusion unless the computer tells me otherwise. -
Had to fill my FFH 13 last Friday, DTE said 1mile, managed to get 11.3 gallons in, somewhere there is a missing 2.2 gallons. On a related note, if you go into Engineering mode there are 2 DTE values, Display & Instrument. Instrument shows higher than Display by various amounts up to15miles. I suspect this is the safety net that Ford builds in because so many people believe they can run their cars on fumes. Can others confirm these 2 values behave the same on their cars. storksb

Looked at the shutters again this morning and today they were shut after starting the engine,so I have no idea if they working as 100% of the time, Will try and check each morning the rest of week to see there a pattern.

I agree the transition between EV and ICE is fantastic. I also like the noise cancellation system does a good job of keeping the engine drone in check.- 38 replies

Took a look at my shutters this morning before going for a drive, open prior to starting the car and still open once I had started the engine. There was a whirring sound from the area of the shutters but they did not close. After I got home and parked I heard the whirring sound again but was not quick enough see the shutters moving, but they where open. I an wondering this is the cause of my low mpg. Going to ask the service department tomorrow if they can test there operation.

Talk about trying to stifle environmental good citizenship. Our Virginia politicians are totally out touch with reality, I am all for a gas sales tax that is a percentage but a hybrid fee that is ridiculous.

Congrats and welcome to the club. please post photos of your light / bulb swaps.

EV+ mode not recognizing my house or work
storksb replied to lmp180psu's topic in General Discussion
My FFH learnt my home within 3days and gave me the +, as for work out still hasn't learnt ,but that may be due to me having 3 differing work locations. -
I am disappointed with the highway mileage mostly, mid 30's is all I can manage even with a light right foot. Maybe it is my driving style but I doubt it.

I have seen quite a few in northern Virginia in the last couple of weeks, various trims, but only one hybrid.

Hi everyone, joined the forum yesterday but had my ruby red SE hybrid for just over three weeks now.Love the car overall but the gas mileage so far is a little disappointing though improving. Able get more mid 40's on my 14 mile commute most days. Looking forward to reading and participating in this forum Simon

Called my dealer today, they asked that I send them a couple of pictures and then they will contact Ford to see about getting it replaced. In no rush to take the car in as I'll be travelling so well see if doing the initial legwork via email will work out.

Suspect I have the wrong shifter too. Will double check in the morning and call the dealer if needed. I was thinking it looked little cheap, but was just accepting it, but now I know it could ones be wrong I'll have to get it checked.
