  1. Not downhill. However, this can only be achieved on a Sunday (no traffic). Very slow acceleration and I never exceeded 30 MPH.
  2. mattyd, welcome to the forum. I've been driving 65 MPH on US-131, M-6, and I-196 for the past few years. I started driving that way because I realized how much more relaxed I was once I got to work/home. The better gas mileage didn't hurt either. I haven't gotten run over yet. Give it a try sometime. BTW, I do drive 70 on longer trips.
  3. Interesting point. Someone on this forum must know how accurate a gas station pump must be to pass the inspection. It's hard to believe it would be 3%, which is the discrepancy I see.
  4. I bet it's the same noise I hear. Could it be that the reason you don't hear it when leaving in a cold car is because of the sound of the ICE?
  5. It's a problem if you have both hands full of stuff to go in the trunk. I'd prefer all the way open, but I'll take half-way.
  6. I can hear a slight sound that I would describe as metal on metal scraping coming from my rear wheels. By "slight" I mean I only hear it when I'm driving slowly, if EV mode, on a quite street with the windows down. Even then I only really notice it if the sound gets reflected off of a parked car or a building close to the road. Is this normal for a hybrid? I had the dealer look at it and they said it was fine when they test-drove it. I don't really trust the dealer that much yet.
  7. When I open my trunk with the remote or the trunk button on the dash my trunk opens half-way (see photo). I have a co-worker who owns a non-hybrid 2013 FF and his trunk just unlocks but does not open. He also has a spoiler. What is the car designed to do and is it adjustable?
  8. After 10000 miles and 25 fuel-ups I can say with certainty that my FFH display is off by an average of 1.2 MPG. That's assuming Fuelly does their math right. Fuelly lifetime is 39.8, FFH lifetime (never reset) is 41.0.
  9. There is another thread that addresses this issue: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6628-ventilation-without-ac/ I found the best advise to be:
  10. Confirmed. At any speed up to 85, if you are not going up hill, let off the gas for a few seconds and then just gently step on the gas. If your SOC is more than say 1/3, you should be in EV mode. Sorry, didn't look at the power flow screen. I'm assuming the "excessive speed" message goes away unless you're going faster than 85.
  11. Short trip report: throw out everything you thought you knew about driving a hybrid on short trips. Details: This is the commute where I always was getting 30-34 MPG in the winter.Outside temperature was 56 degrees F.The ICE does not appear to ever run for temperature reasons. It never kicked in until the SOC got too low.The engine temperature never even got to the low threshold (bottom photo). Conclusion: if you have a short commute get updated today!
  12. I drove 150 miles to a customer location last Thursday. I got the update Friday and make the exact same trip yesterday. Trip details: 100 miles divided highway at eco cruise set at 70 MPH, no stopping.50 miles rural roads cruise set 60, slow down / stop through a couple of small towns.Terrain generally flat (mid-Michigan).60 deg outside (in July?) so no AC.Before update: 46 MPG (no picture - didn't know at the time I'd be getting the update the next day and taking the same trip in a few days) After update: 48.2 MPG On the way home I experimented a bit. I had it in EV mode at 85 MPH.
  13. I just got updated. So far I have 0.9 miles (from the dealer to where I'm working today) with the update. I can report that the car still runs.
  14. I just got updated. It so happened that it became available today and I was already scheduled for my 10,000 mile oil change / tire rotation.
  15. 48 avg (reset mid May, about 3000 miles ago) 40 lifetime (since new in December)

    MPG Happy Talk

Personal best on a trip of 4 miles or more. SOC was a little higher at the start than at the end, but not too much.
  17. I had an identical experience.
  18. I'll be getting the update as soon as it's available. The downside will be that if my mileage is better this coming winter than last, I'll never know if it's because of the break-in miles, learning how to drive a hybrid, or Ford's software update.
  19. If you are the non-paranoid type, it would be nice if you enabled some additional Fuelly data sharing (if you haven't done so already). That way people can click on your Fuelly signature and see some details. To do so click on Settings. At the bottom you will see: Activity to share: All fuel-ups Best tanks Click on what you'd like to share.
  20. Keeps getting better. Last tank was 48 MPG.
  21. I'm convinced some cars have a longer break-in period than others. I didn't get better than 30-35 MPG average for a tankful until I had about 3000 miles on the odometer. I also was very disappointed. Now I always average in the 40's. My current tank is averaging 49. I have to fill up today ($4.29/gallon in Michigan so good thing my MPG are improving). Hang in there.
  22. I just returned from a 2900 mile road trip where I kept the ECO cruise at 70. I averaged 41 MPG for the whole trip. Assuming I would have improved to 48 driving at 65 I did a quick calculation to see difference in time and money. I basically saved 3 hours of driving and spent an extra $30. As much as I love driving the Fusion, I'd say that it was money well spent. On trips of less than about 30 miles, on the other hand, I always keep it at 60-65. It just isn't worth the few minutes of time saved.
  23. Alright. Just got back from what ended up being a 2900 mile road trip. The dancing (about 5 MPG) occurred twice and lasted for a number of hours. Both times the tank was less than 1/2 full when it started . It continued until I refueled, which also means I shut off the ignition. At this point I'm thinking it's random.
  24. You're absolutely right. If the AC light doesn't indicate the AC on/off status, then what the heck is it there for?
  25. Here are some "real world" highway driving numbers. I just drove 3000 miles from Michigan to Colorado and back. Temperatures were mostly 70-90. Eco cruise was almost always (traffic permitting - no adaptive option) set at 70 MPH. About 300 miles were mountain driving, the rest quite flat. Overall MPG: 41
