FFH 2017 headlights--should I be concerned?
djminfll replied to ContraBecky's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Really horrible headlights were my only real complaint about my 2013 FFH SE. I replaced it with a 2017 FFH Platinum in December, and the improvement of the headlights is major. I have only used the high beams twice because the normal headlights are awesome. Do not hesitate to get the Platinum, it's amazing! -
I live in FL, so I don't experience cold weather driving, but I know using the heat (including heated seats) will have an effect on your mpg. But here are few suggestions to try if you haven't done so yet: 1. If you are pre-heating the car by remote starting it and letting it warm up before you get in, that will have a negative effect. 2. Of course it will be more comfortable to drive with the thermostat set to 75F, but setting it lower will increase your mpg. When I took my Fusion up north a few years ago, I had the temp set at 68 - the car was still comfortable, and my mpg improved. 3. Avoid "jackrabbit" starts - resist the temptation to speed away when the light turns green. The easier the pressure on the acceleration, the better mileage you will achieve. 4. Using cruise control will keep your speed more consistent. 5. Don't keep a lot of extra baggage in your trunk. When I traded in my old car, I emptied the trunk and I had so much extra crap in there. Good luck with the new Fusion, you're going to love it!

I've never experienced a problem with leather seats in any vehicle, and I have driven leather seats since 1998. But BiXLL, I'm glad you made some noise and got results! I am a big believer in standing up for yourself. Unfortunately, Customer Service is on the road to extinction and most companies won't "do the right thing" to keep a happy customer, thus ensuring their continued patronage. I am lucky with my Ford dealer, this is my second consecutive vehicle from the same salesperson, because he goes out of his way to make sure everything is perfect. And if there ever is a problem, he will fight on your behalf. If there is anyone local (South Florida) reading this, it is Pompano Ford/Lincoln, and the salesman is Brian Jewell.

My 2013 FFH SE had more controls than that on the right side - besides Efficiency Leaves and compass, it also had Audio and Navigation.

Just make sure this doesn't cost you anything out of your own pocket. If the original "repair"(?) was done under warranty, Ford isn't going to pay for it a second time unless they are made aware of what the first dealership did. Since you filed a complaint via email with Ford Corporate, wait until they respond before bringing it to Schultz. Ford might want you to bring it back to Ron Lewis since they probably paid them for the work already.
-
You should not have to accept inferior work. Now that you've taken steps, I'd be willing to bet that everything is taken care of shortly.
-
I would contact Ford Corporate for them to intervene. Let them know that you love the car, and you love Ford, but you are not happy with Ron Lewis Ford. Provide them with the pictures that you posted here so they know you are not being unreasonable. And don't rule out using social media to put a little fire under Ron Lewis. I had a minor issue with a Honda dealer a few years ago, I contacted Honda Corporate who took care of everything. I filed a BBB complaint, and wrote an online review about the dealership. I would recommend you do the same thing - file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, complete a Yelp review, and send a Tweet to Ford. The last thing companies want today is complaints being shared online. Chances are, they will amke it right to avoid negative publicity.

Hi Frank, welcome to the Forum! This is just my opinion, but when I bought my original FFH in 2013, I picked the SE over the Titanium because I found the seats in the SE to be more comfortable. And you are correct about most SE's don't have the ACC feature - I had to factory order mine in order to get the options I wanted. So If the SE that you found has the options you want, I'd go for it. I don't think you'll regret the SE, you'll have the options you want, and the price that you want. P.S. Does the SE ACC also have the stop-and-go feature? Because that is the single best feature I found in the 2017 over the 2013.

2016 Random Warnings
djminfll replied to minuteman3's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
I can mirror what everyone else has said. I got frequent false alarms on the CTA system, it could be a branch blowing in the breeze, even a stray dog crossing the street that activates it pretty regularly. I check the dashboard, find out if it from the right or left side, and then check carefully. But I'd rather have the false alarms than turn it off. The Collision warnings also happen unnecessarily sometimes, but more than once, it has alerted me to someone cutting me off, much quicker than I would have reacted otherwise. -
Exclusive Features of a Fusion Platinum?
djminfll replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in 2017-Current Ford Fusion Hybrid
Congrats! Did you get it in Ruby Red? Did you take delivery yet? If so, what are your initial impressions? I'll tell you what one of my favorite things is - the new Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go ability. I drove in an hour of traffic yesterday on the freeway, and my feet never touched a pedal the entire time. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like the car! -
Exclusive Features of a Fusion Platinum?
djminfll replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in 2017-Current Ford Fusion Hybrid
I just saw this posting, I know it's probably too late, I assume you've made your decision. The biggest differences between the Titanium and the Platinum are the quilted leather seats, and the leather wrapped dashboard in the Platinum, both of which are not optional on the Titanium. There isn't much difference in the price between the two, so you should look at both and get the one you like better. -
After driving the Platinum for the Xmas weekend, I have a number of observations/comments. 1. Substantially more comfortable than my '13 SE. The leather is super plush, and I love the A/C feature. 2. I like the transmission dial instead of shifter gear. It leaves a lot more room on the console. 3. I freaked my Dad out by showing him how it self-parks in vertical spaces. 4. The ACC with stop-and-go is a huge improvement. I actually drove for miles on a non-highway street, and once I activated the Cruise Control, I never touched the pedals again. This is going to make my daily commute in traffic a breeze. 5. SYNC 3 is a huge improvement over MyFordTouch. I haven't learned all of the features yet, but it works much better than the inconsistent MFT touch screen. 6. Ford made minor changes to the steering wheel controls, and I prefer the older one. It's going to take me a while to get used to these changes. The also changed the turn signal stalk operation, and I also prefer the original one to the new one. 7. The Trip odometer has been changed - it no longer shows the estimated gallons used. Again, I prefer the old one. 8. When the car is turned off, there is still a display of data for this trip - miles and mpg. But the second screen that shows cumulative miles/mpg is gone. 9. When I took delivery, the car had 14 miles on the odometer. I'm guessing that while the car was being checked, they must have had the motor running non-stop, because I had trouble getting the mpg over 38. Then I filled up (less than 1/2 a tank) today, and reset the dash computer. I drove another 20 miles after than, and I'm averaging 44 so far, so it looks like the new one is as economical as the old one. Stlousigeorge, as for the transmission dial, I saw a youtube video about the problem when actor Anton Yelchin was killed when his jeep was left in drive. It was demonstrated that the Ford automatically returns to Park. I safely tried it in my driveway, and it worked. All in all, while I'll miss the new car smell when it fades, overall I love the new vehicle.

I did a factory order for a 2017 FFH Platinum, expected delivery date was February 2017. Then my dealership called me, there was a Platinum Hybrid in my color (Burgundy Velvet) at another dealership, they were willing to trade him for another vehicle, was I interested? Duh, of COURSE I was interested! So I took delivery yesterday. I didn't realize how much of an upgrade it was from my 2013 FFH SE. I've driven it 125 miles since yesterday, and I'm absolutely thrilled with this vehicle. The quality of the leather, the new lights, the air conditioned seats (I'm in Florida, I expect to make a lot of use of them!), the Park Assist, and most of all, the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go capabliity. I thought it wouldn't seem like I had really gotten a new car, but this one is so different from the SE, it seems completely new.

2017 orders now open (US only)
djminfll replied to machoman1337's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Thanks Stlouisgeorge, I picked up the car yesterday, and I actually got a boatload of incentives! There was $1250 from Ford, $1000 from Ford, $1000 from the dealer, the $500 "Final Days" offer, and $1000 Loyalty Bonus. I got the car at Pompano Ford, probably the only dealer I trust to do the right thing (but I still checked all the figures and asked for more discounts!). -
2017 orders now open (US only)
djminfll replied to machoman1337's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Stlouisgeorge, I agree! I heard from my dealer that my car should be here some time this week, I can't wait! I agree what a great value it is, with all the technology. The things I am most looking forward to are: 1. My 2013 SE has heated seats, not a major issue in Fort Lauderdale - the 2017 Platinum has heated AND COOLED seats. Now that's a feature I can get on board with! 2. Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go - what a benefit for my long highway commute each day. 3. Enhanced Active Park Assist - this doesn't just do parallel parking, but will back into a vertical space as well. 4. The improved SYNC system - I must admit, I have not been a big fan of the SYNC system in my '13, but I'm looking forward the to "new and improved" version. Looking forward to picking up the new baby, will post pix as soon as I get it! Edited because I didn't answer the question about the price - I ran the TrueCar pricing and gave it to my dealer, he accepted it. I'm sure it includes all incentives, I doubt I would be able to get it for much less. I'm pleased though, that Ford Financial is offering 0% financing. -
For any of us who have push-button start, there is a new theft device on the market - it "reads" the signal emitted from your keyfob, and allows the thief to break into your car, and then use the device to steal your car. See article and video below. http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1107710_own-a-car-with-push-button-ignition-thieves-might-be-able-to-nab-it-with-this-gadget-video#src=10065

4 year Ownership Reports - 2013 FFH
djminfll replied to B25Nut's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Just a couple of months shy of 4 years with my 2013, and all is great. I replaced the original tires at 57K miles, I still have the original brakes as well. No repairs done so far, only a software update in August of 2013, and a couple of recall items. I still have every service receipt, and it's only been oil changes, tire rotation, and an adjustment to SYCN in the first year. My overall average is 43.5mpg, but I had a number of poor fill-ups at the beginning when I wasn't driving as hybrid-efficiently as I should; and mpgs have slipped a bit in the last few months as well, but still remaining in the 40's each fill-up. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever - have ordered a 2017 Platinum trim, should be delivered early next year. -
2017 orders now open (US only)
djminfll replied to machoman1337's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Things have changed a bit since this was originally posted. I factory ordered my Platinum, as there is not a single hybrid in Platinum trim within 500 miles of me. The 2017 Platinum Hybrids now have: 1. 18" wheels - the 19" are only on the non-hybrid models. 2. The "Tier 3" LED taillights - still not available below the Titanium models (SE and below taillights only illuminate up to the trunk rim. The higher levels illuminate into the trunk area as well). 3. Ford specs show only the Ceramic with Cocoa piping as available, but when i was placing my order, I was given the option of Ceramic, Terracotta, or Ebony. I chose ceramic, because I love the pics with this lighter interior, a nice contrast with the terracotta dash pieces. Also I currently have all black interior in my '13 FFH, and it's too dark. The car has MSRP of about $38K - my salesman discounted it for me, and gave me all applicable manufacturer discounts and rebates and priced it at $34K. Plus he offered full bluebook for my 2013 as a trade, so I grabbed the deal! -
Thanks for the info! I contacted them, and they have the antennas for the 2017 models, all I need to do is provide the color code. This one will have the sharkfin for sure!

I was pretty active on this forum since 2013 when I was shopping for my FFH, but I haven't been around in a while. I can't believe my beautiful 2013 FFH SE is about to clock 90K miles! 100% trouble-free. I've never had the car in for anything but routine maintenance except for a software update and a recall (for a seatbelt I think?). And my lifetime average over this time is 44.2mpg. My worst fill-up ever was 39mpg, my best was 54mpg. I love this car! But with the warrantee for the hybrid components about to expire at 100K miles, it's time to replace my baby. I considered all of the mid-size hybrids and went to drive each of them - Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Lincoln MKZ, Toyota Avalon. But kept coming back to the Fusion, still my favorite. I finally decided on the 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid in the new Platinum trim. I selected the Burgundy Velvet Metallic paint. Because of the scarcity of Platinum hybrids, I placed a factory order - still got a good deal from my salesman, the same guy from whom I purchased my 2013. Delivery is expected to be in early January. Does anybody know where to get a shark fin antenna in the matching color? I always meant to do it with my 2013 (Tuxedo Black), but I never did. I'd like to get the antenna before I take delivery so the dealership can install it for me. Thanks to all, it's good to be back!

My other hobby when I'm not getting 55+ MPG ;)
djminfll replied to hybridbear's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
I don't know how I missed this post when it was first published. Hybridbear, I know you will appreciate this - when I was 10 years old, my family bought a house in Roslyn, LI, NY, with a finished basement. When we moved in, we noticed that the wood paneled back wall had a keyhole at the top, with a key in it. When we unlocked it, the wall came down, and there was a complete Lionel train set, with an entire village - houses, buses, police station, trees, etc. My dad and I used it all the time. My only question was why we left it there when we moved? I'm sure that was irreplaceable! Your setup is AWESOME! -
I just read in (I think) Motor Trend that an all-new Taurus will be arriving for MY 2017. They said it will adopt the styling of the Fusion.

I have 53,000 miles now, and the tires are still in good shape. I do take 3 or 4 sharp corners every day, and I take them pretty fast. Other than that, I drive pretty calm and relaxed. I'm planning on replacing them later this year, but these tires are pricier than what I'm used to. Ford quoted me over $1K for a set of 4; I checked online, and I can get the set for about $800 and Ford will match what I bring in, but my last set of tires for my Volvo were about $600 for a set. I won't let anyone else work on my FFH besides Ford.
