  1. Most cars get a mild "refresh" in about 3 years, then a redesign in about 5. This isn't set in stone, but it's generally the life cycle. I think the last Fusion was redesigned a little sooner because it wasn't as competitive against the Accord, Sonata, etc. But the current Fusion is selling well, even with the redesigned Accord and Sonata, so other than minor tweaks and trim changes, I don't expect to see anything major until at least 2018. But that's just my opinion...
  2. If this is your first time filling up, why take a chance? As you drive and get to know your car, you can push the limits with a little more assurance. After all, the mpg of the forum members ranges from not so good, to excellent, to unfreakinbelievable. Where do you fit in that spectrum? You don't really know yet. The computer gauges aren't spot on accurate, so you can't depend on them. I have shown 10 gallons used and couldn't squeeze in more than 9, and I've shown 10 gallons used and easily pumped 11+ gallons. So if the car is telling you it's time to fill up, for now, I'd listen to the car!
  3. Thank you all for (a) not making me feel stupid for having missed this feature in the first place, and (b) reconfirming that the inside trunk release is not mentioned in the OM. I pretty much read the OM cover to cover and never recall having seen it.
  4. I've always found that the dealer will not want to work that you didn't approve. So definitely ask them to check your VIN and do whatever updates, recalls, or whatever, are due.
  5. I'm kinda shocked - after reading this and responding yesterday, I checked my car this morning when I left for work, and guess what? I have the trunk release as well! How could I be driving my car for all this time, and not be aware that the car has had this feature?????  :banghead:
  6. I think I'm at about $100 in rewards so far. The dealer would have given you a plastic card, and you'd have to submit paperwork to be enrolled. I lost out on some of my possible rewards because I bought my car from one dealership, but their service department is so incompetent, I now service the car at another dealership. So some of my rewards earned won't be applied. Oh, well .....
  7. Do you realize that if the thief has broken your window and gotten into your car, all he has to do is unlock the doors and the trunk is automatically unlocked? My 2013 doesn't have the button, I kinda wish it did.
  8. Wow, sorry to hear what happened, but at least you weren't injured. Hope he has good insurance so it doesn't cost you anything out of pocket.
  9. When I first got my FFH I wasn't piling on the miles that fast. But then I got a job that was 40 miles away, so 80 miles a day adds up. I just transferred (5 weeks ago) to the Miami office and now my commute is 36 miles each way. I bought extended warranty coverage for 4 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer, and I'm sure the miles will expire long before the 4 years. So considering how much time I spend on the road, I couldn't be enjoying the miles more in any other car. And I recently calculated the savings - my Volvo averaged 24 mpg, FFH averaged 44 (although that is going up). The Volvo would have used 682 additional gallons (1500 gallons instead of 818 in the fusion). At an average of $3.10 per gallon, I have saved $2115 in gas so far. It couldn't get much better than that!
  10. I had to pull over and snap a pic - I am officially no longer driving a "new" car, it is now out of it's new car warranty, its extended warranty is now in effect.

I transferred about a month ago to a different office, this one is located in Miami just west of the airport. Thanks to driving a Hybrid, I do get to drive by myself in the carpool lanes, and I drive the Express lanes for free, which usually charges a variable toll based on traffic volume, anywhere from $3.50 all the way up to $11. But even with this benefit, there is still traffic going to Miami. In the month I've been driving every day, I usually average about 45-50mph, and my mileage to and from work has climbed up to 49-52mpg. My last 10 fill-ups averaged almost 46mpg, with a high of 52mpg, tankfuls of 49mpg, 47mpg, and 45mpg. So I agree that driving at these reduced speeds definitely contributes to improved fuel economy.
  12. I saw this picture posted, and was so impressed with the way the passenger cabin is completely uncompromised. Seeing this picture makes me feel safe in my FFH!
  13. Glad it all worked out, I was going to suggest placing an ad in the paper or on Craigslist and selling the car privately. You will always get more for the vehicle selling it privately, but it's more of a hassle. But it looks like you got what you wanted, so it's all good! Best of luck with the new car.
  14. My iPhone 5 settings "Software Update" says "iOS 8.1 Your software is up to date." It doesn't say anything about 8.2 anywhere.
  15. For some reason, Ford has chosen not to turn the DRLs on. If you go to your dealer, they can turn them on, but there have been people on this forum who said their dealer wanted to charge them to do it, others said their dealer did it as a courtesy. Mine did it gratis, but yours might or might not want to do it for free.
  16. Welcome and good luck with your FFH! I love the Tuxedo Black color, it looks amazing when the car is clean and polished and sitting in the sun. Congrats on the 50+ mpg first tankful, but don't be disappointed if every tank is not as good. I have experienced as low as 37.3mpg, and as high as 52mpg. I would recommend registering on the website www.fuelly.com, where you can keep a record of your fuel economy for each tankful of gas you buy. According to fuelly, my last 10 tankfuls have averaged 45.1mpg.
  17. I'm actually surprised it took this long for someone to bring this up since we have all apparently noticed it! I noticed it the first week I had my FFH, but never brought it up to the dealer or on the forum. It bothers me whenever I approach the car from the back in the sunlight, but at this point I don't really notice it much any more.
  18. I was thinking it was a problem with MFT, but everything else works perfectly, so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I will say, Apple is pretty good about fixing their mistakes, so I'm assuming 8.2 should be out soon.
  19. I special ordered my 2013 SE in December 2012 because my dealer checked up to 500 miles away, and there was not a single FFH SE with the equipment I wanted in a color I liked. It was estimated as an 8 week delivery. About 3 weeks in, the dealer said there was a delay, and it would be 8 more weeks, but in the end, I got the car just about when originally estimated. I ended up paying a few hundred over invoice, but at that time, the Fusion was brand new and there were no incentives or deals going on at all, so I think it was a decent deal. But I definitely think you should order the car exactly the way you want it. I was frustrated at having to wait, but I would be more frustrated if I was driving a car today that wasn't really what I wanted.
  20. I've been having a problem playing music from my iPhone, but only since I downloaded the latest version of IOS 8.1. When I plug the iPhone into the USB, the music doesn't play; if I press the pause button, then the play button on the MFT screen, it still doesn't play. The only way I can get music from the iPhone is to press play directly on the phone. I'm going to need to call Apple to see what's going on. Anyone else having the same problem?
  21. That looks like a nice color! Usually I don't like silver, but you're right, this doesn't look like silver, it is more like a gold-tan color.
  22. Honestly, I can't figure out how the Toyota Camry can be the #1 selling vehicle - it has no soul, I've never thought it was a nice looking car, and I find the new one to be hideous, especially from the front!
  23. I actually just started working in Miami 2 weeks ago, and never saw Orion gas until now. I don't think they are related to BP, we still have lots of BP stations all over south FL.
  24. These are a few pics from the internet of Bronze Fire - looks pretty nice, if these are representative of what the color really looks like.
