I believe it ( because she's my Wife, LoL ) but was unable to prove it as it was raining outside so I couldn't take a Pic. but the next time I'll see if I can grab a Pic of it showing 52 MPG. We have about 1325 miles on it + or - . She say, " I think that trip we took around the Big Lake must have broken it in really good".<br /> We are now equal with what the Salesman did on MPG on our original Test drive where he showed me He could get 52 MPG <span class='bbc_underline'><strong class='bbc'>on this car.</strong></span> In one of my early post I made reference to that. Now the only thing left is to get the Nav. Sys. to find someplace we want to go and plot the course to get there instead of <strong class='bbc'>NOT FOUND</strong>, then I really will like this car. Right now it's like a Cat, I'm kinda warming up to it but it's taking it's own sweet time about it. Dogs are all over you right off the get go. :happy feet: :) .</p></blockquote> I read on blue oval forums that there is a TSB related to the GPS which may help your issue. I dont have nav but i used the sync direction function a couple times where it couldnt find me and i was not in the middle of nowhere. http://www.fordservi...tsb13-03-11.htm

EV+ mode not recognizing my house or work
lmp180psu replied to lmp180psu's topic in General Discussion
My Fusion has recognized 3 places. It recognized my partners house after 4 days (his was the first location), then it recognized my own house after a couple weeks, then work not long after. I like that it does it coming from different directions too. -
Husky weatherbeaters front and rear. I am very satisfied with the quality and fit. I will most likely keep the rear set in all year since my partner's kids are not the most careful and neat about their shoes. I am waiting for a cargo tray to become available as well.

Thanks for the detailed info on this issue. My dealer also said that Ford is aware of this, but no fix has been found yet. Unfortunate, but as long as it isn't a safety issue, I guess it is "ok". Still it is annoying given how refined the car is otherwise. I sort of cringe when I hear the noise.

Got this on my way back from lunch. The trip there was pretty much all ICE and I got 14.8 mpg. 72.3 mpg avg is not bad lol: Got gas on my way home and snapped this pic before getting back on the main road home:

MFT clock not keeping time
lmp180psu replied to lmp180psu's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
It is weird. Mine seems to have corrected itself. I was going to mention it when I take the car in for a tire rotation and oil change, but so far it is acting normally. Might just be a bug that will work itself out after a few days? -
I have found that with the inconsistencies between fillups due to the gas tank/fuel filler tube, i haven't been able to get an accurate picture of my mpg. I can't always fillup at the same station or tank, so that doesn't help. I have been letting the auto shutoff do its thing on the slower fill notch then topping off with 2 clicks method lately. One station it was within .1 gallons of computer, the next station was 1.1 gallons over. I have almost gave up trying to compare. I have just over 5000 miles. Lifetime avg per car is 39.7.

I have Geico and the quotes for the Gas and hybrid Fusion were virtually the same for 6 months.

I thought i remember seeing the sticker on the inside jamb of the drivers door say 34 psi all around for the 18" Goodyear's. That is what i set them to when i took delivery ( dealer had them at 36 i think) and haven't changed it yet. I haven't checked the pressures since which i probably should. My mileage has been pretty good so i haven't thought to do it, but i have almost 5000 miles and am scheduled for a rotation in 1.5 weeks. I may increase the pressures a bit soon.

Rear Window Issue
lmp180psu replied to GrayStrider's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
I have the issue you are describing. For me it is pretty much dead center in the rear window. It is a bit annoying but not sure if its worth even mentioning to the dealer. -
I have distortion in the center of my rear window too. Makes objects look smushed and stretched out. It is a bit annoying but i am not sure if bringing it up to the dealer will do anything.

MFT clock not keeping time
lmp180psu replied to lmp180psu's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Well, on my drive home it decided to keep time sporadically throughout my 35 minute drive home. At first it fell behind 3 minutes, then decided to catch up to within about30 seconds of the instrument cluster clock. It did this throughout the drive home. it would fall behind a few times then jump the 2-3 minutes to be almost in sync with the instrument cluster. Guess for now I'll have to just look at the instrument cluster for time. I have to get my tires rotated in about 800 miles, so I will ask about it went I make the appt for the tires. My dealer is not close to me, so it isn't something I can just drop off and wait for unfortunately. -
MFT clock not keeping time
lmp180psu replied to lmp180psu's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Version 3.5.1. It was installed from the factory. Build date 11/28/12. Just started in the last couple days. Only noticed when i went to go back to work from lunch (i like to listen to the sat radio while sitting in my parked car at lunch), and thought "wow is it that early?" then looked at my cell phone and saw it was 20 minutes behind. Then today i noticed it didn't keep the time while driving either. -
I just noticed this at lunch yesterday. When the car is running or in accessory/standby mode, the clock on the MFT screen will not keep time. It stays at the same time from when i started the car. The clock in the instrument cluster keeps time. If i go into the clock options and go back out, the time will update, but that is the only way it will keep time the last couple days. Any one else have/had this issue?

I have always liked the full chrome trim that comes on the luxury package but I got the appearance package, so it doesn't have it. Has anyone looked into adding the full chrome trim? Do you think it would be fairly simple and not too much cost? I tried looking in parts sites to check prices, but havent had any luck finding it. Do you think the chrome just sticks on with 3m tape?

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="acdii" data-cid="45001" data-time="1362752731"><p> Thats pretty much the same thing I try to do, as long as no one is in front of me. Waste energy going uphill by bleeding it of with as little throttle as possible to stay on ICE, then gather speed going downhill which puts more juice in the pack yet gets high MPG returns, then I can cruise with very little throttle, staying on ICE with the instant showing 50+. Have to stay above 63 to do this though, otherwise it will insist on being in EV. </p></blockquote> I tried this technique for the first time yesterday since i was frustrated a bit with traveling the highway at 60 or so to stay in and out of Ev to get the best mileage, while being past by pretty much everyone. The battery pack gets charged for use on the highway and once i get off the highway, plus the instant mpg on ICE is noticeably higher. I was struggling to see 30 mpg at a flat 60 mph on ICE before. Nice to actually travel 60-70, with the slight times above 70. Was less stressful and annoying this way too. Got 43 mpg for the trip which is similar to other times. Temp outside was 50 and no climate which helped too.

Ruby Red. Go Phillies and my one dog Ruby!

The luxury package wheels have really grown on me. Would be nice to get the leather with the Appearance package like you said.
-
Welcome! Yay, another Appearance package Hybrid. I was starting to feel left out with the majority of people having the luxury package lol. Like you, I didn't think I would own a Hybrid either, but my yearly mileage is like yours and this doesn't look like a Hybrid for sure :) I came from an 05 Acura TL, so it took me a bit of time to adapt as well.

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="acdii" data-cid="44715" data-time="1362580222"><p> In contrast, here is a pic of my 2010 on the same roads in 20* weather. <br /> <br /> <span rel='lightbox'><img src='https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/625410_515307071844765_359876525_n.jpg' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /></span></p></blockquote> So did you get 44.3 or 35.5 on that same trip in the 2010? Hard to tell since you have the 2 gauges shown in the pic. BTW, I agree with you that I think the 13 is not a very good highway car. I have been driving anywhere from 60-65 on the highway mostly since i got the car, and if not in EV mode, the instant mpg on ICE sort of stink. With a lower EV battery charge, the instant mpg at 60 even on flat surfaces can show 30 or below which i think is very inefficient. I tried to stay in ICE longer on the highway to test your theory and I see it helps with the SOC of the battery, but still trying to get the hang of getting good mpg while using the ICE at 60+. Seems like the mpg should be better on the ICE at 60-65 than it is. It is sort of painful to drive at 60 just to let it cycle in and out of EV mode to get better mpg (maybe upper 30s on highway, i need to actually reset the trip meter at the beginning of my highway commute one of these days) when in my 05 TL, i could get 31-33 mpg doing 70 easily. I am close to 40 now with almost 4000 miles but i have about half (if not a little more than half) EV miles.

From pictures, I didn't really care for it on the Fusion, but saw it in person on a newer Escape, and it doesn't look too bad on it actually.
-
I have all the noises you are describing as well. I thought about asking the dealer about the ones while driving. I am guessing the one while the engine is off is something normal with the hybrid battery.
-
Great choice. Love the look with the Appearance package. If i didnt have 2 silver and dark gray car before, I easily could have gone with the Sterling Grey.
-
I notice it more in EV mode pulling away from a stop, versus it the ICE is running, since it is so quiet otherwise. I don't remember hearing it at higher speeds. I will try to have an ear out for it on my way to work later.
-
I wonder if this is the same thing that I hear when the car is almost stopped and when i first start out from a complete stop (i am thinking that is what you mean by unloading and loading). A few rocks rattling inside of a metal can is an appropriate analogy for the noise. I am not sure if my dealer is a Hybrid certified one, so they might not be able to do much, and they don't keep hybrids in stock long either to compare. I thought about making an appt to have them check it out, but the dealer i bought from is an hour away from my house and work, so not exactly convenient. Maybe i can make a weekend appt.
