STILL waiting on parts. They've had my car since January 15.
-
They've had mine since Thursday evening, January 15. They got me a rental on January 20 for 10 days. Called Monday January 26 for an update, they're still waiting on the part (the transmission replacement). Rental is going to be extended. Service adviser told me he'd call back with an update Monday night or Tuesday morning. It's now late Wednesday night, no word on car. Did you have to pay anything on the repair - a deductible? Is the new trans still under the original 8 yr/100,000 mile warranty, or do you have a new warranty on it because it's a new trans? halfelite said:Its under the original warranty. I dropped my car off Tuesday morning at 7am and was able to pick it up Friday at 5PM.

Have only been up to the mountains a couple of times in the two years we've had the car, so it's not that. We're never in EV mode for an extended amount of time. Only getting 37+ mpg because of it.

How long did it take for them to swap out the tranmission? Ours has been at our local Ford dealership for a week now with the same problem. Is there a warranty on the new transmission, or are you still under the 8 year/100,000 mile clause (original warranty)?

Car is still in the shop - they've had it since we dropped it off Thursday evening, January 15. Our service advisor got us a 10 day rental (a Mazda 5). Our largest concern is this happening again. We drive a lot (a 68 mile commute 5 days a week), and we're at 49K miles after 2.25 years of ownership. We didn't buy an extended warranty. I don't want to be looking at a 7K repair in another 2.25 years. Anyone else with the same problem with theirs?

Interesting. My service advisor mentioned they're going to need to replace the transmission assembly, and if, once they get it apart and find that there are problems with the transmission itself, then they'd replace the transmission. That's exactly what I'm seeing on page 2 of the TSB - thanks for that!

Well, it looks like we may end up with a new transmission in our 2013 FFH. We've got a job 1 FFH, with just shy of 50K miles. There's been a different sound from the engine for a little while, and then it started to get louder, so we took it in last weekend. Transmission guys weren't working, so we dropped it off Thursday night and it looks like the noises are definately coming from the transmission. They're going to tear it apart and see what can be fixed and what will need to be replaced. A complete replacement is around $7K but thankfully it's covered under warranty. Looks like we'll be without a car for 4 or 5 days while they fix/replace. Anyone else with an early 2013 build have issues with their transmission?

Do you have to do anything special with the new SD card, or just remove the old one, insert the new one, then start the car?

Very interesting! We struggle getting things into the trunk on the hybrid - the hatchback would make it ever so much easier to load her up!

Almost 48K on ours after two years of ownership. Dash shows 38.5 mpg but it's actually 37.47 calculated. Commute is mostly freeway. We experience about a 1400 ft elevation change between work and home.

Thanks for the heads up, murphy. Hopefully mine will stay on the program long enough to get my $117 worth of rebate service. After new tires, the brakes are sounding a little strange, so may be bringing it in for a checkup a little earlier than planned.

Not an Ideal Place to Park a FFH
GrayStrider replied to GrayStrider's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Glad the guy was able to get out, but sad to see the submerged FFH. Thanks acdii: "BTW in case you didn't know, you pull the door handle twice and it will unlock." I didn't know that! -
Saw this on Yahoo news tonight: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/08/16/car-crashes-into-altadena-pool-1-rescued/ Not exactly where you'd want to park your FFH (or any car, for that matter)!

Got new shoes for our 2013 FFH yesterday. Researched a bit on my own earlier in the week, and read through the boards here. Decided to have the original Michelin Energy Savers put back on, even though they're on the expensive side. I don't want to lose any mileage, and everything I read indicated that people lost 1 to 3 mpg by going to a different tire instead of putting the original tire type back on. QuickLane had a promotion for a $70 rebate when buying 4 Michelin tires, which I had them add to my Ford Owner Advantage Rebate card. Had a $15 credit waiting on the card, plus earned another $47 for buying the tires there. Ended up paying $1003 out the door. Just clicked over to 41K miles and since we were down to around 3/32nds when the car was serviced at the 39K checkup, it was time to get the tires replaced.

Got ours last week - $775. Arrived via FedEx. Just in time, we need new tires!

Cooling system stinks up car even in winter
GrayStrider replied to GreatLakes's topic in Climate Control
17 years (and counting) on our Chevy Silverado, 8 years (and counting) on our Saturn VUE, 9 years on a Saturn SL2, 9 years on a Toyota p/u... never had an odor from the climate system. All were housed outdoors. -
Cooling system stinks up car even in winter
GrayStrider replied to GreatLakes's topic in Climate Control
From my understanding after reading all 20 pages of this thread, the smell is not associated with having the AC on, but rather, when you are using the vent only. The smell is a result of AC use, however, when moisture builds up and mold becomes an issue. The smell is very apparent when starting up the car without the AC on. It happens for vehicles built before February 24, 2014. I think our build date was in September 2012, so it qualifies. Or did I miss something? Had ours serviced today. Long story short, they pulled the driver's side apart, flushed and deodorized the system. I have a few things to share with our regional customer service rep when he calls to follow up on Tuesday, so won't go into here yet. Our service advisor did tell us two things during today's service appointment - first, like mentioned earlier in this thread, you should turn the system off about 5 minutes before you arrive at your destination to allow the cooling system to unfreeze. Why weren't we told to do that when we purchased the car, so this problem wouldn't have happened in the first place? But then again, why should you have to do that anyway? Never had to on our Saturn VUE, and we've NEVER had a musty odor from our system on that vehicle, 8 years into ownership of it. Second, it was recommended that we park it by backing it into the driveway. It's not a steep driveway by any means, but there is a little bit of a slope to it. Just curious... are those of you who are having the problem ever put it manually on vent instead of using the auto mode? We ran ours on auto for the first year and a half until reading on the forum about trying to improve MPG by putting it manually on vent to make sure the AC really was off when you only wanted outside air. We started doing that sometime around July or August 2013. We live in Southern California, so not much humidity here, which may explain why it took longer for our smell to develop? It seems like those in more humid areas have had it develop more quickly. -

Got a regional service manager involved (thank you, Ashley) and have the car heading in for service in about an hour. We're out of the BtB warranty period (seriously, does anyone really drive only 12,000 miles a year, particularly if you are in CA?), so we'll see what they recommend. I'm worried it's going to cost us a bundle to have it fixed because we don't have an extended warranty on the car (hubby doesn't believe in them, but now I'm wishing we'd gotten it). Really wish Ford had a better regular warranty on their products like other companies do. Three years or 36K miles is pretty sad for a $32.5K vehicle purchase, IMHO. I thought it was just newer companies, like Saturn at the time, that had such a short warranty period. Wasn't a 5 year warranty the norm at one time? Will report back later with an update... -

So, having 39K+ miles on ours, we won't have to worry about warranty issues with this repair? -
Lol... wish that was the problem with ours.

We're having this odor issue in ours. Last time we had it serviced, they did not replace the filters. Time for another trip to the dealer.
