Rear Window Issue
GrayStrider replied to GrayStrider's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
LOL. Been there, done that! I'll live with my glass imperfection, but I really think at this kind of price for a vehicle, this shouldn't be an issue. Just saying. -
Glass anti fog solution?
GrayStrider replied to Kaleido's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Our windows get a film on them (inside) which is annoying when sun angles are low. Regular Windex or similar product doesn't seem to be very good at getting rid of it completely. -
Welcome, and great color choice! We LOVE ours, and it is our first hybrid, too. Were one of the first to have a 2013 FFH (got it November 28, 2012 - it was the one of the very first few the dealer had in stock) and although ours isn't fully stocked, I love the black leather, navigation, and rear sensing system on ours. One of the best decisions we've made. Let us know when you get yours!

Paid $3.819 at last fill-up (a couple days ago), but noticed price dropped today to $3.799. I'm in Riverside, CA. Everything's ALWAYS more expensive here in sunny CA...

Got me giggling on that one... :)

Your mileage is pretty much like mine. Car is saying 38.3 mpg lifetime, but that's not what I get when I calculate it (that's 37.49 MPG). Then again, hubby drives more than I, and he's got a heavier foot than I do. I frequently use the 'foot off the gas, let it click into EV mode, then slowly maintain acceleration to keep it in EV mode as much as possible' trick, which he doesn't. Still, better than what we get in our VUE!

Happiness is driving 75 mph on the freeway and being in EV Mode!!

Is it happening even when nothing's nearby when you are backing up? I know the update added colored blocks in between the colored lines, but I only see them when we're getting close to something when we're backing up.

I have a 2005 Saturn VUE with light gray leather seats, first time having leather. I live in hot So Cal and those leather seats could get rather warm being in the sun. We have a 2013 FFH with black leather seats, and amazingly, I don't recall a single day this summer that I've found the seats uncomfortably warm (not true for the VUE). Just FYI.

LOVE it!! Well stated.

We've heard the plastic guard scrape many a time. Can't be helped in some areas the way intersections are, but I know which ones to make sure I slow down for (although it'll still rub anyway).

What a great list, reminded me of the many things we love about our car!!

Second tank post-update, and not much better than last time. Went from 34.0 mpg to 35.9 mpg, but our 61 tank average is 37.43 mpg (all calculated). Car still says lifetime mpg is 38.2. Traffic has been tough after heading back to work in early August, with a mile or so section at 25 - 35 mph or lower, which would continue to depress our mpg a bit. It's also been a bit warmer than July was for us.

Just picked up my 2013 FFH Titanium - Bye Bye 2013 Prius
GrayStrider replied to millerliteguy's topic in Welcome!
Congrats on your purchase!! Yup, I can't stand the Prius - I think they're U-G-L-Y!! -
One main thing the dash cover does is knock down the glare of the dash onto the window. The only thing I don't like about it is the stitched cut slits for the airbag. They could have left it uncut, and I'd skip putting adhesive in that spot. You really only need a small piece in front of the driver and passenger, near the window, anyway. It stays in place pretty well on it's own.

Same goes here, although mine's a little more extreme a difference. Car shows me at 38.2 right now, while Fuelly is currently showing 37.4 based on 61 fill-ups.

First tank post update, and we saw a lower than normal tank MPG; however, it's been hotter and our driving pattern changed a bit from over the summer as we teacher types are back in the classroom, so I'll wait to see what the more long term change is, if any. I drive hybrid better than my DH, and he did the majority of the driving on the first post update tank, so between the hotter temps, going back to the commute, and him driving the majority of the miles on that tank, I figured it'd be lower. Did notice a slight change in the backup camera display - we backed the car into the driveway after getting groceries and instead of just seeing the green/yellow/red bars like usual, as we got closer to the garage door, green boxes filled in between the green bars. Always fun to see what's new after an update. On a happy note, on our short summer road trip in late July into early August, before the update, we had a tank at 48.8 MPG, and another at 46.1 MPG. Only one tank was below our average MPG, and it was due to the climb we had from Tempe into Flagstaff. I love our car - so stylish for a family sedan, so comfortable to drive/ride in. We had enough room for the four of us (two teenagers plus my DH and I), with a little trunk room left over after adding four small suitcases.

Couldn't find anything in the manual about this. Came out from work today to find both side mirrors aimed down. Has happened once before. Any ideas?

Software Updates from Ford to improve MPGs
GrayStrider replied to hybridbear's topic in Fuel Mileage
Had the powertrain control module update done on August 17, along with the 20K 'the works' service. They also checked the fuel delivery module, and although there's no problem, they ordered parts, so my service rep said. Reset the trip meters when picking up the car. Will see if there's any improvement after a couple of tanks. Haven't noticed any difference in the way the car handles since the upgrade. Did manage to get into EV mode (for a few seconds) at speeds between 65 and 70 mph on the way home from the update.- 475 replies

From the album: GrayStrider - Our 2013 FFH
Back in February, we got a bit of snow during lunchtime at the middle school where I teach. -
I've been spotting quite a few in the past few months, but rarely a hybrid. Saw a white hybrid today!!

I'd LOVE to have a 47 MPG tank!! Best we've had is 40. Today's fill-up calculated at 38.0 MPG.

Took a bunch of Girl Scouts on a weekend camp in Imperial Beach (south of San Diego) over the weekend. Packing was tight, but I took the FFH instead of the VUE. MPG for the 103 mile trip was a few tenths above 47 - awesome!! Forgot to look on the return trip, but that was a great number for a 1 hour and 45 minute trip down to the beach camp. Best MPG ever on a short trip to see my mom today! Lookie...
