Your salesman didn't show you around your new car? My salesman explained every function of my Z and even about the empty SD case. Go back and smack him/her on the back of the head NCIS style. :)

 

I had another appointment and didn't have time after we did the paper work. He is going to stop by our house and give us the full demo when the weather improves.

I really didn't expect to buy a car. I was looking at a nicely equiped SE they had on their website with Dune leather, but it has been stuck in transit for the past couple of weeks and hasn't arrived (stop me if you heard that one). I stopped in to tweak the salesman about loosing a sale on the last day of the year, and the sales manager said "how about this one..." I told him we had looked at it and it was out of my price range. He said "Not Today" and we were off to the races.

Although Ford is expanding the availability of AppLink, it is focusing on Gen 1 SYNC systems at this time. You'll find the announcement here: http://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2014/01/03/ford-offers-sync-applink-for-3-million-more-customers.html There is still no update on AppLink for MyFord Touch equipped vehicles, but I've passed along the feedback.

 

 

Hi Kim,

 

I bought a new 2014 fusion last night. I found a plastic container in the glove box that looks like it should hold a memory card, labeled Taveteq Maps,version A4. It is empty. What is this, what happened to the memory card, and do I need to keep it?

It sounds like the other members of the forum answered your question already. They're correct; you found the case to the navigation SD card. This is where the map information is stored for your navigation system. When future map updates are released, they will be available here: www.Navigation.com or you can speak to an agent by dialing: 1-888-628-6277. I'm sure your sales representative will be able to fill you in on any other questions you may have. If not, let us know!

Just a ball park availability would be nice. Or at least ask them why I paid more for a less capable system?

So, is the new SYNC 3 going to be retrofitted to the 2013/2014/2015 cars with MFT & Navigation? :drop:

LOL Thanks, GrySql! You guys aren't an handful at all. Kim will still be your main rep, but I'll monitor the forum in the mornings and on Fridays. :) As far as SYNC 3, since it's an all-new system (hardware and software) it can not be retrofitted to current vehicles. My 05 Freestyle had Applink, and it didn't even have Sync! Now my 03 Chevy, Yes CHEVY, HAHA I own a freakin Chevy, has Applink. If MFT wasn't so tied into every system in the car, it too can have Applink, all it takes is installing a decent head unit in it.

 

What a shame too, all other car companies have a means to tap into phone apps like iheart radio, Pandora and such, and only the low end Fords have that ability. I think the techs at Ford need to wake up and see the competition for what they are. Bad enough Ford gets such low marks due to MFT to begin with, but to leave out a feature in the high end cars that people are looking for and can get in other brands high end line, is not a very good way to go.

 

Thats just MHO, but YMMV.

Check your ford owner account. Maybe you have a conscientious dealer that enters what was actually done instead of meaningless boiler plate like mine does.
