Ford to lower MPG rating of C-Max Hybrid

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. So far it's a lot of speculation. We'll have to see what the official announcement is tomorrow.

I always wondered how they could rate it the same as the fusion. Its nowhere near as aerodynamic. Maybe under a certain speed it can get better but not on the highway for sure. (Its god ugly too)

The EPA fudge calculation method did work out so well and Ford is taking the blame for it it's kinda sad for trying to do the right thing.

 

Hopefully the EPA will release a statement that Ford did everything correct based on the guidelines that are almost 50 years old. It's really too bad that most customer take every news article for granted.

in the release Ford says that they used the FFH results to calculate C-Max fuel economy, likely using the EPA fudge factor for the difference in aerodynamics. Now they're testing the C-Max individually and it's returning lower numbers.

Thats a bad move on there part. I think comparing the aerodynamics of a astro van and a corvette would have less differences when it comes to that ugly monster lol.

Wonder if they're going to restate FFH as well. The C-max may be less aerodynamic but its a much smaller and this lighter car.

I always thought the cmax was for city driving. Usually ugly cars like that are. Smart car is a good example. You can take it on the highway, but who would want to be seen riding down the interstate in a fiesta turned minivan lol

No, the testing to get 47/47/47 was done with the Fusion Hybrid, there will be no changes to the FFH fuel economy unless something else changes.
