HoustonFirefox Report post Posted August 14, 2013 1st Post: Just got mine updated today after owning it less than two weeks, ~512 miles so I don't have much to compare it to. I mainly had it done to cut down on the amount of horns and finger-flipping here in Houston. So far, nothing untoward as far as the car drives. I got it up to 70 and the EV did indeed kick in although I'll probably just drive the speed limit to keep the other drivers tempers under control. After the update, drove straight home and backed into the driveway and noticed something very odd - the "caution bars" on the back up camera did not come on as I was backing up to the garage door (you know , the green, yellow and red bars across the distance lines). I would have hit it had the distance beeping not started sounding furiously. It never did this before and always worked fine but odd to see it missing after the update! I'll update the thread after a few days and see if it re calibrates itself and comes back on but I really like that feature and hope it didn't go away permanently after the update - would have to make another trip to the dealer
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Got my update, My guess is im gonna get around 1.5mpg more in the city. I guess thats not bad tho. Cruise control at 69mph for 23 miles i averaged 37.6mpg tho with eco cruise on. Id think this is low being i got almost 40 coming back before the same way? Under empower it did keep the blue box and EV came on once at 68mph and stayed for about 15 seconds so I know the update is correctly installed. Dont find it any easier to keep in EV tho on lower speed driving like some have said.

They might have updated your sync system for you which an update was available about a week or so ago. This I noticed added some squares to the inside of the indicator lines on the left and right side depending on where it is detecting a object. Might check syncmyride.com and see if they have installed this for you.

Did they update the MFT as well while they had it ? Because if they did the setting for the warning bars have change and you need to turn them back on under the settings far the reverse camera. Oh I almost forgot > welcome to the forum and congrats on your new car. 1 acdii reacted to this

HoustonFirefox Report post Posted August 14, 2013 All three of you kind folks had it right. They did indeed update the MFT and the defaults were present. Went out and reset them and now have my warning bars back! Neighbors kind of looking at me funny backing in and out of the driveway up to the garage door hahaha. Works fine now, let's see how the upgrade works! :) 3 jeff_h, corncobs and corerwh reacted to this

Riggo Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Was yours? I'd say mine was 50% downhill 30% flat and 20% uphill. But on the uphill portion of the trip I was on residental back roads with no one behind me so I babied it up the hill in EV :baby: . 1 corerwh reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted August 15, 2013 Well, just had the PCM update done and it sure was interesting watching the Empower screen on the 75 mile ride home.I can't say the mpg's are better (yet) but things work differently than before. There was a LOT more activity in EV, SOC and in general the HVB was much more involved in driving the car.Driving at 65-70mph on a downhill in EV mode felt more natural, the whole driving experience seemed improved.I'll know more in the next weeks but at this moment it appears to have been a good thing for my FFH. 2 corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this
anguyen Report post Posted August 15, 2013 Don't really know if the update help or not, got my car update when it has 300 miles, now shr got 1400 miles. On interstate 400 miles round trip I got 42.4 A/C, ECO Cruise, and entertainment on all time. Travel @ 65mph.Now on street going from 30-55mpg I got 39.6 mpg, I get to traffic speed then release gas pedal, then with ECO Cruise on when ever I can. Does this mpg on street level ground sound normal with 1,400 mies on the car? People in this forum mention also the salesman stated the car break in after 3,000 miles. How much more Mpg would I get after 3,000 miles break in? MaineFusion Report post Posted August 15, 2013 Today I noticed that EV+ comes on at least .3 miles sooner than before the update. Has any one else noticed this. I did check it several times today with different return directions. Mine relearned home pretty quickly, but only comes on about 1/8 a mile from home. It still hasn't figured out my work location, but maybe because the GPS signal disappears right as I enter the parking garage my FFH hasn't figured out that the last known GPS location before it is turned off is my work location. All three of you kind folks had it right. They did indeed update the MFT and the defaults were present. Went out and reset them and now have my warning bars back! Once you and your FFH have figured out how to work together it should become second nature. It's also easier to get good results on roads you travel regularly I just drove home a different way but I rarely drive it with my FFH and I had to work it to break the 50 MPG. HoustonFirefox Report post Posted August 15, 2013 Like some others, my FFH has learned where Home is but (again, like some others) I park in a garage at work and have yet to get an EV+ mode indicated going there. With less than 600 miles on the car, this may be expecting a lot at this stage but I'm in EV mode mostly in downtown Houston. On a side note, it's a challenge going up 10 levels in a parking garage in EV mode only ;) 1 corncobs reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted August 15, 2013 On a side note, it's a challenge going up 10 levels in a parking garage in EV mode only ;) That's true, but doesn't that also mean that you start the way out with a low HVB and 10 levels of downhill regen in the parking garage? My house is at the top of a ½ mile hill, so the EV+ is perfect and I get to the garage with the HVB about 15% or so... but then the next morning I start off in 'sneak-out mode' where the ICE hasn't come on yet, and start my trip with ½ mile of downhill regen. 2 hybridbear and corncobs reacted to this

On a side note, it's a challenge going up 10 levels in a parking garage in EV mode only ;) It is my understanding that you can speed up the EV+ learning process by turning the ignition on & off 11 times in a row. With my FFH, I have found that it will only climb about 6 parking garage levels in EV+ before ICE has to kick in the 1st time. And jeff_h is correct - pick a parking spot which allows you to only go downhill for the beginning of the trip home. Free mileage! 2 jeff_h and hybridbear reacted to this
