jeff_h Report post Posted August 6, 2013 It goes 1%....5%....38%.....100%..... you won't see any other number! And you will probably also see similar uneven progress during the install, such as "installing 1 of 9" and "2 of 9" go kinda quickly, "3 of 9" takes forever, 4/5/6 I think were quicker, 7 was slow, etc etc... so I think the size of the files involved are factors in the uneven progress (looked like a total of about 550MB of various sizes)

Boat Racer Report post Posted August 6, 2013 I successfully downloaded and installed the update yesterday around 6 PM. It didn't take too long to download (under 10 min?) and it took about 25-30 minutes to install. I also didn't have to delete the BT connection from my phone - I just went to MFT BT settings - added a device and on my phone I just clicked SYNC under existing BT connections. It asked me to re-confirm the 4 digit pin and it paired right away. Like others, it deleted my quick calls list, but kept my NAV favs. For some reason when I tried to set Home as my destination using voice commands it says Home wasn't set up yet. I'll have to try that again today. This morning I also noticed that my clock was one hour behind. I fixed it, then selected SYNC to GPS time - it went back an hour again! I checked the timezone and it knows I'm in EST ... so I don't know what's up with that - I just change it manually again and left it. This update also made my songs and artist names show up when I'm streaming from the Nexus 4 w/ Jelly bean 4.3, depending on which app I use:Google Music - shows both track and artistPandora - shows only track, no artistiHeart Radio - doesn't show anythingDS Audio - shows only track, no artist Text Messaging still doesn't work.I noticed the same issue with the clock being an hour off even though it is set on the correct time zone. Like you, I just manually changed it an hour to the correct time. Another benefit for me is that before this update my text messaging didn't work with my HTC One phone, but now it does. :happy feet: 1 neod192 reacted to this

Anything else that I may need to be aware of or should do before doing this software upgrade? You don't have to remove the navigation SD card, but not sure about the USB drive with music. It definitely works if you don't have another USB drive plugged in at the same time. Just keep the car running and don't remove the usb drive with the update until you hit OK on the final step. 1 corncobs reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted August 7, 2013 You could try running a vehicle health report and see if it updates the site with the current version installed. DING DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER! (But not for another car, sorry) Yes that did it, as of this afternoon the version in the 'My Sync Version' as shown on the right side of the SyncMyRide page said 3.5.1, yet clicking "view sync history" showed 3.6.2. This evening we re-paired her phone and ran a VHR, and that apparently sent the status across and now the "My Sync Version" is at 3.6.2, as it should be. Thanks! 2 neod192 and 47Minutes reacted to this

I don't want to take it to the dealer again ...
Former Expedition owner Report post Posted August 7, 2013 I seem to be getting the "No Key Found" error more often after the update. My time was also off by an hour. I just adjusted it manually.

smr2112 Report post Posted August 7, 2013 The time is off because it doesn't understand Daylight Savings Time - I think.Has this issue with the 2010, thought the 2013 had it fixed, now it's back. GPS doesn't care about DST, but MFT should certainly be able to know whenthat is, but I guess leaves it up to the GPS.
blinkstafoo182 Report post Posted August 7, 2013 Well I learned the USB thumb drive does not have to be empty, just make sure 2GB are open. That is why I think I was having problems, I did not have 2GB available.
Waldo Report post Posted August 7, 2013 Why oh why can't they fix the GPS time stamp? Are the GPS sats so stupid they don't know what time it is in Texas? ;) Yes, they are that stupid. GPS sats send out the same signal to the entire world. Since the time zones around the world are different, it's up to the receiver to determine what time it is where you are. But MFT is not smart enough to know where and when DST is supposed to be applied. MFT would need a very complicated table of what day each region changes and which regions don't change at all. There would also need to be some provision to update that table since DST dates and regions can change. It's not as simple as it seems, but it's not impossible. neod192 Report post Posted August 7, 2013 I just checked my VIN on etis.ford.com and saw this: Outstanding Field Service Actions 12M02 - SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCO L INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) I think it's the 3.6.2 update, but does anyone know for sure? Since I already updated mine on Monday, shouldn't it have cleared by now? It could also be the warranty extension up to 5 years/ unlimited miles, but this wasn't there last week and the extended warranty has been in place for some time. Waldo Report post Posted August 7, 2013 My atomic clock does this all the time and it has a lot less processing power/code than MFT. My cell phones also always know what time it is, but they get it from the carriers. But what if you carry your atomic clock over the border into Arizona (where they don't use DST)? Will it update automatically? What if they change the date DST starts again, like they did a few years ago? You can throw your atomic clock away, you're not going to throw your Fusion away... Point is the atomic clock only has to consider one factor in the DST change - the date. MFT has to consider two factors, the date and the location. murphy Report post Posted August 7, 2013 We are mixing two different technologies here. Atomic clocks operate from a radio signal from radio station WWVB in Fort Collins, Colorado (unless you have one that cost more than your house). The radio signal has all of the information to completely set a clock once the time zone has been manually entered. All of the ones that I have default to Eastern time so it's completely automatic for me. MFT gets its time from the GPS receiver in the car. I'm sure that the GPS satellites are locked to an Atomic time base somewhere. I don't have to tell my Garmin GPS when DST starts and stops. I configure it with my time zone and set DST to Auto. From then on the clock is correct. It could be done for MFT, they just haven't bothered to do it.
IraF Report post Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Ran the update Sync Gen2 v3.6.2 and no data was lost other then resetting the clock and pairing the phone. Problem was when I ran a VHR, two systems were unavailable (Restraints & Driver Assistance as well as check Fluid & Filters. Customer service (1-800 392-3673 option 1 and then option 3) 1st time suggested a master reset and if that didn't work open door and close door and wait 30 seconds then and and do a master reset. Followed both suggestions but did not work. I asked if I would lose any data and they indicated no. You lose your radio stations and your favorites on the navigation system, they need some retraining. 2nd time I called customer service I was informed the dealer has a way of doing a hard reset. Have another apt with dealer and don't know if this will work Edited August 7, 2013 by IraF
