hybridbear Report post Posted May 1, 2013 Based on an idea at the C-Max Hybrid forum I think it would be cool to see what is the best MPG we can each get over 1000 miles. Leave one of the trip meters without resetting for 1000 miles and then post the pic once you get a result. Now that the weather is warming up I want to see if anyone can break 50 MPG over a 1000 mile time period. There have been a few at the C-Max Hybrid forum who have broken 50 MPG. Let's see if we can too! 1 gemdc reacted to this

jeff_h Report post Posted May 1, 2013 My last tank was 50.8 MPG, may be able to do it twice in a row, unless the car was not filled up all the way on the last tank due to slight grade at the pumps (referenced in another thread). 2 gadgetguy and hybridbear reacted to this
MXGOLF Report post Posted May 1, 2013 You guys are killing me. 700 miles on a tank! I can't even get 500. Well I did once on a long trip. I won't even be competitive on this challenge. Have fun kids!

tombarker13ffh Report post Posted May 1, 2013 So it doesn't have to be a big 1,000-mile road trip? Just 1,000 mi on the trip odo? I'll beat 50 this time, but it'd be tougher on the interstate. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

ROB281 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) over the past weekend I hit 42.2, that's in the Texas hill country with lots of ups and downs, will reset today and report back with Houston area flat land driving Edited May 1, 2013 by ROB281
Da0ne Report post Posted May 1, 2013 i reset my trip for this tank when i filled up last week so i will keep it going thru the next one, im at almost 300 miles and it was showing 45.4 mpg so far the weather has been between 45 - 60 degrees here 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Correct, on the interstate the results wouldn't be so great. This is to measure the best 1000 mile segment you can grab. City driving will yield the best results
acdii Report post Posted May 1, 2013 acdii has a bigger fuel tank, lolParty pooper! Even so! I can be up to that challenge, all depends on where I drive. That was a trip this morning, return trip was a little lower but still over 47. 5 hybridbear, djminfll, corncobs and 2 others reacted to this

expresspotato Report post Posted May 3, 2013 1,000 miles? Jeeze I've never gotten more than 1,000 KM from a tank. Highest recoded before it claims its empty (which we all know is like 2 gallons / 5 liters left) is about 800 KM or 500 Miles.

tombarker13ffh Report post Posted May 4, 2013 I reset my trip 2, I like to use 1 to track tanks so it'll probably take me a month or month and a half to rack up 1,000 mi... 1 hybridbear reacted to this
DeeCee Report post Posted May 4, 2013 I'll reset my Trip 2 at the next fill up and use it to track the next 1000 miles. Probably will be filling up in the next few days. will probably take about a month to log the 1000. 1 gadgetguy reacted to this
gadgetguy Report post Posted May 4, 2013 I'll hit 1000 miles by the end of next Wednesday when I get back from a business trip. I might wait until after the trip so it will be a more real world result!
hybridbear Report post Posted May 4, 2013 I'm looking forward to seeing all the results. I reset one trip computer every time the odometer rolls over to a new 1000 miles. Rolled over to 9000 yesterday so now I'm counting my 1000 miles. I sure hope we get nice weather so it'll be a good result. I'm hoping for 50+ MPG. Current tank is about 400 miles in on 8 gallons for 50 MPG and the first 150 miles since turning 9000 yesterday have been at about 47 MPG since it has been in the 30s and raining/snowing here which kills the MPG. I've been able to sustain 50+ for more than half a tank when the weather is above 50 degrees. I'm hoping to sustain 50+ for these next 1000 miles! 3 gadgetguy, tombarker13ffh and Da0ne reacted to this
neod192 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 The challenge is to drive 1,000 miles and post the results first right? In that case, I just won! 2 corncobs and gadgetguy reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted May 5, 2013 I don't think that was the only condition ? We could make a list or post the results containing the avg speed which your case is 23 MPH @ 36.7 MPG. We are going to hit the 1000 miles tomorrow morning somewhere east of Albuquerque which will be a 100 % Interstate travel summary. This is going to a interesting thread thanks hybridbear for starting it. 1 gadgetguy reacted to this

Kwilli Report post Posted May 6, 2013 I'm game to post too, I'm currently 70 miles into a new trip set, so i'll let that one play out. I think it will be interesting to compare those of us whom have just had the car a few weeks to those whom have had them for a few months. I only have 1000 miles on my car but I know some have quite a bit more. I feel like I'm still learning to drive the hybrid (and the car is still breaking in). I'm consistently seeing better numbers every time I drive, but I'm confident I will not be in the 50+ mpg average for this test!
