I've been meaning to post these for a bit. I've gone through two rounds of the 1000 mile challenge. Its turning out to be a bit difficult to beat the 50mpg mark. While I can get the car into the high 40's, or low 50's, it's hard to get 1000 miles without my wife driving for 10% of that.

 

I have a 56.5 mile drive to work every morning. The majority is on highway / freeway.

 

My first run I averaged 48.9mpg, over 1000 miles and 23h55m. Average speed was 41.8mph

 

The second run wasn't quite as good. Used the AC a bit more, had a trip home from work in a hurry, and the Mrs took a couple trips to town. Average 43.0 over 1042.2 miles and 27h13m. Average speed was 38.29mph.

 

Just for bragging rights, I thought I'd add in my current drive to work record. 57.9mpg over 55.5 miles. It normally takes about an hour for that drive.

Even so! I can be up to that challenge, all depends on where I drive. That was a trip this morning, return trip was a little lower but still over 47.

Yeah that's the old one, pretty impressive though for a car rated 39 MPG combined.

Finally crossed the 1000 mile mark!

 

 

54.1 MPG displayed, I calculate 54.17 based on the gallons used. 70.12% EV miles! And a new record low speed over those 1000 miles of...

 

17.52 MPH!!

Actually that's pretty impressive for the ICE considering that the ICE is only on when accelerating & under a heavy load from the generator. A gas only V6 car would have only gotten 16-20 MPG over the whole 1000 miles, we got over 50!

47.3 is INCREDIBLE for your FIRST 1000 miles!!! Imagine how you'll do after the break in period. In our experience that took about 3000 miles. It seems that the break in period is for the tires just as much as for the ICE.

Thanks hybridbear. Thus far this car had been very predictable and my milage has been very steady driving it the way that I do. It will be interesting to see what it does for the next 1000 miles since I will be getting the PCM update on Monday afternoon. I think I am going to set the cruise at 70 and see what that does.

 

I am enjoying my commute so much more now and my back is enjoying it too!

Okay, I kind of missed posting for the 1,000 mi challenge, but here is my Trip 2 at 2,654mi (50.6mpg) and my overall lifetime (never reset so true lifetime for car). What is odd is that Trip 2 shows only 193mi for EV mode, when it is actually 1,193mi. It seems the tripometers can't show EV miles past 999.9mi. The regen miles are messed up because the PCM software update reset it.

Did you have your FFH during last winter? I'm guessing your winters in Maine are probably the closest to what we get in MN to compare the effects of the cold and snow on the FFH.

My FFH arrived in mid February and break-in period hadn't really completed until some time in May, so I won't find out how my winter MPG is until this coming winter. I'm doing what I can to pad my lifetime MPG now before winter takes it down a few notches.

Here is my most recent 1000 mile trip meter. Well actually 999.9 because I was a little slow resetting it at 16,000 miles and I want this trip meter to be in sync with each 1000 miles on the odometer. This 1000 mile challenge was averaging over 56 MPG until it got really hot and humid here and my wife used the AC driving all week and got only 39 MPG over the last 200 or so miles of this challenge. The heat here has been unbearable!

I like how you forgot to notice the 13.4 gallon requirement. Not too big a deal that's just minor. . sarcasm..

You're needed to be 1000 / 13.4 =74.62 mpg average mpg to achieve that goal. So far I havent found one user (including me) dedicated enough to come close to 70 mpg on a trip computer exceeding 1 gallon consumption showing on it.

with which I mean travelled 150 miles on a single gallon of fuel. We need Wayne Gerdes to teach us lead foots how the 2013 model can beat the 2010 record.

 

 

Pleease someone prove that it can be done.
