Here's my list of issues to address with the dealership. Our appointment is setup for July 29th. They said they'll have a loaner vehicle available. We'll see how it goes. After their comment about not being able to find a TSB about the eCVT leak I don't have high expectations. The Nav POIs issue I know they can't fix unless Ford has released another update that we haven't heard about but I still want it documented. Below they're typed like how I described the issue to the SA over the phone and how I sent the list to Ashley to forward to the CSM. We'll see how things go.

Concerns

  • HF35 eCVT transmission is leaking
  • When using the Engine Block Heater the yellow wrench illuminates
  • Frequent battery saver messages and low 12V battery SOC
  • Navigation often shows that we are alongside the road and not on the road, directions thus compute in a strange way
  • The trunk squeaks very loudly
  • The 120V power point in the center console in the back seat is very loose and plugs do not stay connected reliably
  • Navigation POI menu on the right dash screen does not work to select POIs
  • When pressing the A/C button the A/C doesn't actually turn off and the dash will still show electricity going to it
  • The steering wheel is slightly off center to the left (I have to have the wheel turned slightly left to go straight down the road)

Please share what you learn on Right dash screen and AC as my car was at service this week for those same items.

Thanks.

What did the dealer say/do for you?

What did the dealer say/do for you?

For 4.2" screen: "we reset synch - so let us know" (still fails).

For AC button: "use the MFT climate screen, not the AC button on dash."

By the way, when you receive a text message in the 4.2" right hand dash screen, we get options for listen, call, delete. Has anyone ever gotten the CALL selection to do anything?

Thx.

HB, go in with a positive attitude and cultivate a good working relationship (not adversarial). They already have said they will have a loaner vehicle for you and not all dealers do that (especially for customers that purchased the car at a different dealership). So that is a good start, right?

So, what's the normal frequency for the dealer to give you updates. It's now been a day & a half and neither the Service Advisor nor my CSM from Ford has called me with an update. Is it time for me to call the SA?

I believe TSB 14-0037 relates to number 4 on your list.

The dealer tells me that there's no update for the Block Heater issue, no update to the FCIM module for the air conditioning, no update for the navigation to fix the car showing up as off the road. They also claim there's no TSB about the transmission leak.

Furthermore the CSM has not returned my voicemail from Monday & it is now Friday.

What should I do?

You should send me a PM so I can assist, hybridbear. If you have your case number handy, send that along with your best daytime phone number so I can ensure your CSM has the most up-to-date contact info for you. Can't find the case number? I can use your VIN instead. I'll see what's going on and help however I can. :)

Hey HB, sounds like your SA is lazy. There certainly are updates for the FCIM. I know I had them done, AC now turns off when you touch the AC button.

The SA told me he has done nothing to research this. In fact, today talking with him & the tech he told the tech that it is his job to look up TSBs, not the SA's job.

We talked about in this and other hybrid forums that the possible undoings of this high tech car might be in how the independent dealers handle servicing. This worry is being fulfilled. Transmission leaks aren't high tech but "seeping, not dripping" is a scandalous statement for a service department to make and probably violates EPA rules about hydrocarbons leaking. The Gen II FFH seems to have many more problems than Gen I. They only made 70,000 Gen I's in the three model years of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury's. If Tesla can eliminate independent dealers, they'll have great success.

When my car just went in with many of the same items, they didn't fix the Navigation POI on the right dash screen and they didn't fix the AC pushbutton, so both of those are still not working. Do your incoming text messages that notify you in the right dash screen allow you to CALL the texter back? That has never worked on my car.

I cannot call the person either. I think someone with an android phone has said that it works for them though.

My car is paired to my iPhone 5s. I appear to need to turn down the blowing AC or else people ask me if they have called me "in a wind tunnel chamber".

The not being able to hit the call button has been reported before and Kim reported it into Fords system.

Send her an PM with your info. I think they just need enough complaints to fix it. Priority for bugs is everything.

Or try adjusting the direction of the vents. One may be pointed right at a microphone causing this noise.

Hi JimArch and hybridbear,

Like corncobs mentioned, I'd be happy to document your feedback. Just send me a PM with some details. It is important to bring these to the attention of your dealership as well.

Try making a phone call through SYNC while your vehicle is stationary. Make sure your windows are rolled up and start driving. See if the person on the other end of the call can hear a difference. If the speed of the vehicle plays a role in the amount of interference, this should be addressed by your dealership.

Well, Crystal said that she followed-up with the CSM this morning and yet he still didn't contact me today. The dealership also didn't contact me today with an update like the SA promised he would on Friday. This is the epitome of terrible customer service by, not only the dealership, but also Ford Corporate. I am incredibly disappointed. Others have had great success with having Ashley get the CSM involved, my CSM doesn't bother to contact me to help...

Hi Kim,

If you can help get the issues owned by someone and fixed, that would be extremely helpful.

Thanks.

So get this... the dealership just called me to tell me that as part of calibrating a sensor that they replaced they have to drive the car for 40 miles so they need me to come put gas in the car since when I brought it to them it's near empty. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?!?

If they have to drive it to reprogram the sensor then Ford should be responsible for the gas. This is not my obligation.

Your Dealer is setting records for new lows in CS and ineptness. Crystal, where are you on this? HB is getting the worst possible service with no help from Ford.

My first experience back in Dec 2012 with a local Dealer required them to drive the car that far and they put 5 gallons of gas in the car, they were very proud of themselves for doing that.

The car was there for the 'wrench & brakes' warning icons and they did a 'Hard Reset' to fix it, as per Ford Engineering Hotline.

This was the Dealer that the SA opened the hood and said 'Wow, never seen one of these before'. I don't go there now.

IMHO Ford made a huge mistake in making getting certified as an electric dealer optional. Even those that do get certified, get training for two techs and two salesmen. Everyone that works at the dealership should know all about all of the products that they sell and service. It's called continuing education. You don't stop learning when you graduate from high school or college.

I have dealt with shoddy mechanics before, but that is a whole new LOW. Something like that would make me think about going to Toyota instead.
