Johnboy Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Hey All, First time poster, here. I've had my FFH SE w/ MyFordTouch (without the Bose system) for two weeks now. I've noticed irritating, high-pitched noise coming through the sound system when I play the radio (AM or FM) or music from USB flash drive (haven't tried a CD). It sounds like when a radio is poorly tuned and isn't receiving a strong signal. However, I know the signals are not weak, as the radio stations are broadcast right here in town, and my previous cars did not have this problem. I don't believe it's related to radio signal strength, since the USB music doesn't rely on a radio signal. So I'm wondering if there's a wiring issue somewhere in the dash, causing interference in the sound produced. Are any of you having a similar issue? I'm taking the car in for a couple of cosmetic warranty items this week and wanted to have them also look at this problem. I'd like to have an idea of what the possible causes are before they attempt to troubleshoot. Any info you can offer would be appreciated.
rjent Report post Posted March 11, 2013 I would suggest trying another USB device, even a different brand. It sounds to me like radio noise coming from the USB. It may be the system ifself, but it also could be the thumb drive. worth a try!
Johnboy Report post Posted March 11, 2013 rjent, thanks for your reply. I noticed the sound in AM/FM radio prior to adding the flash drive. I'm pretty certain that's not the culprit here.
mrobinso8 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Take to dealer. That seems to be their problem assuming you are under warranty.
mcgibbaa Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Yeah, I have actually noticed considerable noise in the line when playing from a USB - let me know if you find anything out from the dealer. It seems unlikely the USB drive itself is the culprit...
steph Report post Posted March 25, 2013 I don't have the premium sound package, but I hear a static sound always at low volumes. I took it to the dealer and we got another fusion hybrid 2013 off of the lot and tried it out and found that it had the same sound.
acdii Report post Posted March 26, 2013 That might be the active noise cancellation at low volume. I hear it in mine when the radio is muted.
Johnboy Report post Posted March 27, 2013 Any Titanium owners with the Bose system here who can comment on whether this problem persists with the upgraded audio?
neod192 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Any Titanium owners with the Bose system here who can comment on whether this problem persists with the upgraded audio?Soon! But the Titanium doesn't come with s Bose system, it comes with a Sony system :) Gas Titanium owners can't help because they don't have the active noise cancellation. E277 Report post Posted June 28, 2013 I also have the static sound and took mine in this morning and one of the Sync experts also heard the sound (thank God) and wanted to schedule a time when they could have the car for a week!! He said there is a recent SYNC update that he thought would take care of the sound but that updates with the hybrids take longer for some reason. He mentioned he had one lady's for 6 days to do the update b/c the computers have a 'hard time talking to each other' in the hybrids b/c of the additional hybrid monitering system that is built in. I think I'll just live with the static sound. Also thought it may be interference from the noise cancelling system. Is there a way to de-activate ANC?? Can we just pull a certain fuse or something to see if that's the culprit? 1 keithsm2 reacted to this
keithsm2 Report post Posted June 28, 2013 would be intresting to hear with and without ANC
Xfusionx Report post Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) same problem with static noise have any of you tried this?...select AV input (do not play video or music) turn volume up then select settings+display-+screen off, all the static (cracking) noise is gone. Not suggesting it is a fix only a clue for those experts out there. Edited January 16, 2014 by Xfusionx

Hello everyone, I wanted to chime in just so you know I'm listening! :)Are all of you already running V3.6.2 on your MyFord Touch systems? To verify, press the 2 gears > HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION and the last 5 digits of the CCPU number should read: 13171. If it shows a different number, see if an update is available on your account at: www.Support.Ford.com for instant download. If your software is already up-to-date, I think it's a good idea to bring this static issue to your dealership's attention. neod192 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Do you guys have a phone charging while this is happening? I noticed my FM reception is worse if I have my phone plugged in. PS. I'm running 3.6.2.
jsolan Report post Posted January 29, 2014 In the past 2 days, I've been getting a ton of static through my front left speaker when the vehicle is cold.It seems after I warm the car up a little bit, the static either goes away completely or at least gets quiet enough that it is drowned out by the music. I am on the latest SYNC release. At first I though maybe I had a critter in my garage gnawing on some cables, but since the static seemed to drop off with warmth, I'm wondering if it's something else. Hi jsolan, If you haven't already performed a master reset to the system, I'd give it a shot to see if it affects this static concern: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch If the issue persists, it most likely has something to do with the actual speaker. In that case, have your dealership take a look. Kim
sschnath Report post Posted January 26, 2015 Reviving an old thread. I just acquired a slightly used 2014 SE Hybrid and while sitting in the car going through car menu settings with the radio off but the accessories turned on, I could hear low volume noise from the speakers. Not quite white noise but similar. I immediately thought of the ANC, searched and found this thread. The Ford support site says I'm running the latest firmware. Did 3.6.2 actually address this problem?
ethermion Report post Posted January 26, 2015 We had similar with our 13 FFH. Fixed by a TSB, that had nothing to do with the MFT version (3.6.2). If it bothers you, you need to bring it up with your dealer. You will be visiting the dealer anyway one day for the airbag module fix. Good luck, and welcome. We love our car, and hope you will too. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
