What's the most gallons you've been able to put in at one fill-up?[

11, then again I never run the tank down low enough to put max gallons in. Reason being is I had a fuel pump fail on me from doing just that, and it took out all the wiring in the trunk when it shorted, For some odd reason the fuse never blew. I like to keep the pump in the fuel and the only way to guarantee that it to not go below the E mark. :)

I got 12.636 is my max. That was after only 8 and 9 gallons on the initial few fillups. The nozzel would click and the station attendant just pulled it out. I had to talk them into letting me fill it up after it clicked full. It's illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon. However I do it every time on my Motorcycle?

That's less than a gallon left in tank. How many miles beyond the zero miles left did you drive?

It's that way in Oregon and New Jersey, don't know why.

 

Need to fillup this afternoon, have a 60 mile trip and 47 miles DTE, may fit in more than 11.67 this time.

 

 

Added: Noted odometer reading once the DTE got to zero (once past that it stays at zero), went 12 more miles to get to gas station, first clicked around 11.55 gallons but I kept clicking and stopped when it got to an even 12.000 gallons.

Same in NJ. There have been many attempts to get it changed, but they all fail. They all remove the gas nozzle after the first click,,,and we all know what that means on the 2013 models. On my 2010 - after the first click, it's full.

I just filled up and I put in 11.352 gallons. My fuel warning light came on and it showed 15 miles to empty. I did 4 clicks and checked the fuel gauge and saw my fuel meter above the top notch.

That's really funny that the station attendants just pulled the pump out. In my 2000 Ford Explorer, if it didn't take enough gas they would always ask me "Does x sound right?" I thought it was because it was a guzzler, and so we would take it in before a trip even if it only needed a few miles but the attendant told me one day that Fords are notorious for early shut off. So, they ask. Interestingly, that Explorer almost never did an early shut off. We'll see how the fusion does.

Not sure if the warmer weather helped as normally I struggle to get more than 11 gallons in from DTE if 5 but yesterday I managed to get 12.6 with a DTE of -1.

Does anyone have a diagram of the tank/filler tube configuration. The combination of 10.5g fill and <40mpg hwy are beginning to get up my nose. I want to understand why this tank is even 'skinnier' than the spec.

i filled up yesterday got 11.98 and my avg is saying 39.1 and even fuelly said i got 39 mpg from the last fill up

11.069 for me. I drive 300 miles/day M-F and gas is usually 60(+) cents more per gal in California where I work compared to what I pay in Vegas (every fillup has been in Vegas thus far). This means most my fillups are usually 6-8 gals. After my Friday morning fillup I get my 300 miles and if the "honey do" list is big (= multiple trips to Home Depot throughout the weekend) some weekends I get more than 400 miles on a tank.

Does the DTE actually display negative numbers? On Engineering Test Mode there's a screen with FLPM (fuel level percent of maximum) that I'm going to use next time we get low. But alas it's been almost 2 wks & we've only barely used 1/2 a tank ;)

No, it will only go down to zero... once it got there I noted the odometer and then again once I got to the gas station to see how far past zero it went.

I am about to order my FFH, I thought I read somewhere it had a 13.3 gal tank, or something like that.

 

Since there is a battery, can't you just drive on that if you actually ran out of gas? Seems you could at least get to a gas station without gas. And also get the full 13gals into the tank.......

 

My Grand Prix gets about 22mpg and almost 400 mile range on 17gals.

 

Looking forward to high MPG in my new Fusion :)

Short answer, NO. It is not designed to run on EV alone, at least not the non NRG. In fact if the car detects it is out of gas, it can also shut down the entire car to prevent battery damage. Prius do this, and it takes at least 3 gallons and a series of key things to get it running again.

Wow, sort of sux. Seems like it would at least let you go slow to get to a gas station.

So that is why no one ever lets it get to low on gas I suppose.
