DeeCee Report post Posted October 27, 2013 Had the PCM upgrade done a couple of months ago at just over 10,000 miles. At that time the car was reporting a lifetime average of 44.6 mpg. My post upgrade lifetime average is 46.7 after about 4000 miles. 1 gadgetguy reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted October 27, 2013 That's pretty impressive! I think it's pretty impressive that you started a thread that is 73 pages long and one of the most popular...and you did it because:"How about a little love, and a place to post some good mileage reports?" How about a little recognition for elle! :congrats: 4 corncobs, hybridbear, gadgetguy and 1 other reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted October 28, 2013 Great trip from today. Weather was marvelous, about 55 degrees so I had the sunroof open enjoying the nice weather. Friday, Saturday & today I drove about 150 miles and averaged 57.3 MPG for the 3 days Also, since doing a Lifetime reset after the PCM update these are the stats as of today. It's been about 2000 miles. Brake score ticked over to 99% from 98% today. MPG went from 52.3 on Friday morning to 52.6 as of today. 3 gadgetguy, Wingmn and GrySql reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted October 28, 2013 That's freaking awesome! I see you are still getting some phenomenonal mpg's!Thanks!! Sadly, the weather is getting colder and our MPGs aren't as good as before. The same type of driving that netted 57.3 this weekend probably would have been 60+ if the temps had been warmer. Even though the daytime highs were in the upper 40s Saturday and mid 50s both Friday & today the first trip each day was with temps in the low 30s which started each day out with a low MPG trip and led to the ICE cooling down more quickly and requiring more warm up time. The PCM update has made a noticeable improvement in shortening the initial warm up period. I'm hoping for a 2-4 MPG improvement over the course of winter because of the PCM update. 2 gadgetguy and GrySql reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted October 29, 2013 My wife had the car the last few days since I was home sick and she tanked the lifetime. It's down to 44.0, and this last tank barely broke 40. I drove today, netted 44.9 MPG. Sorry no pic, my iphone took a trip and is in pieces now. It's not her braking or acceleration, as she gets 98% for the most part on braking, and she keeps it at 2K like I do, but she tends to drive a bit slower and uses more EV on certain roads where staying on ICE gets better returns. She also tends to take roads that are not beneficial to good MPG. Once I pointed out why her brake scores are in the 90's, she was able to hit 100 a lot more often. What she was doing was not easing into the brakes, but stabbing them, and losing 2% right off the top. The transition between coasting and braking should be imperceptible. She latched onto that one, so hopefully will get better scores from now on. Now if I can only get her to drive the ICE like I can on some roads. She drives the car 1/5th of the time I do, usually on Tuesdays, and maybe on the weekend to the store(where having an Energi would be most beneficial). GrySql Report post Posted November 1, 2013 Being retired and this our only 'travel' car my wife and I are in it together most of the time, rarely do we just have one person in the car.Almost without fail my wife has the A/C on in the summer, or even when the weather is in the 70’s.Now it’s in the 50’s and 60’s here so I’ve convinced her to let me try using the ventilation system instead of the HVAC all the time. For the last week we’ve been putting around without A/C, just the car’s ventilation system going or windows down. The FFH responded wonderfully, the HVB is easy to keep at 2/3’s, the car has been getting around 44mpg most of the time, sometimes higher.Last night we drive 4 miles from the grocery store and I was amazed to see 64.5 mpg’s!! Prior to the PCM update and the 100% SOC Hard Reset the car would not achieve those numbers on a regular basis. Conclusion, the car is running normal and I’m happy. 6 keybman, hybridbear, B25Nut and 3 others reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted November 3, 2013 Lifetime MPG since the PCM update continues to rise even with temperatures dropping. The past two weeks have been all temps below 55, but most days have been in the 30s or low 40s. I'm still averaging 55+ MPG in these colder temps and the current tank is about 650 miles at 55.9 MPG according to the display. I might be able to get 700 miles out of this tank too which would make it my second 700 mile tank. 1 GrySql reacted to this

kuzzi Report post Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) While this was getting estimated, I was in a rental Ram 1500 with the 6 speed transmission getting about 23 mpg using my hybrid driving techniques. hybridbear Report post Posted November 4, 2013 This car continues to amaze! I drove about 55 total miles yesterday and averaged 60.0 MPG for the day. The day's MPG was over 62 until I had to take a highway trip after the ICE had completely cooled down while sitting outside for a few hours. Still, this caused the Lifetime MPG to go up again! Perhaps I will be able to get it to peak at 53.0 MPG since the PCM update before it starts dropping this winter. We're supposed to get 6 inches of snow on Tuesday along with a cold front, so 52.9 might be my peak. 2 jeff_h and Da0ne reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted November 4, 2013 Bet you couldn't get that driving where I drive every day! :) Still, getting 43 MPG while not bothering to get 43 MPG, I will say, getting 43 MPG is pretty damned good when its only 45* outside. Heck of a lot better than 34 MPG. I do believe winter blend is out though as my last two tanks have suffered more than usual. I'm still able to hit the 47 mark, but short trips I am seeing a bigger hit than usual. If this is true, then I will be most pleased with the results I am seeing now. Anyone know if winter blend, AKA Boatload of Benzine, is being distributed? 1 corncobs reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted November 4, 2013 Ditto! The only thing I can do is shake my head in disbelieve. I'm still waiting for HB to reveal his secret additional battery pack or something.Hahahaha! :hysterical: I've actually been disappointed in the MPG lately because I'm seeing the effects of 40 degree temps. Trips that used to consistently net 60+ MPG now only get 50-55. That makes it that much harder to get a 60 MPG day like Sunday. If the temps had been in the 70s or low 80s on Sunday I probably could have averaged 65 MPG for the day. :play: I just like the fact that the last time I put gas in the Fusion was SEPTEMBER!!! There's no :spend: on gas going on here!

aaronj1159 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 With the temperatures down around 30 in the morning and around 45-50 in the afternoons here, my commute average has dropped from around the 48 range (in warm weather) to 46 MPG. I anticipate it'll go a little lower as it gets colder throughout the day, but still a drop of 2 MPG after that change in weather is minimal, IMO. Of course, I have a fairly lengthy highway commute (36 miles) that probably minimizes the effect I would see from a colder engine at startup. 1 corncobs reacted to this
