mrobinso8 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Filled up tank today with a trip 1 computed mileage of 45.9 mpg. That was a total miles of 1040 and total gallons of gas used at 23.7. This calculates to 43.9 true mpg. This is apparently typical of Ford's trying to show their vehicles as better than they really are. My 2011 Fusion gas was the same. Always off by 2 mpg. My other car, a 2006 Honda Accord's computer always matches manually calculated. The Fusion Hybrid gets good mileage but not as advertised. I drive like an old man to get good mileage since I am one! I wish their computer program was accurate. This is a irritating as not being able to use the navigation touch screen while moving.
acdii Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Spring hath Sprung, either that or summer blend is here. Getting consistently over 40 MPG now and the average sine last reset months ago finally hit 39. Another couple weeks of this and lifetime should be there too. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
Da0ne Report post Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) i filled up the tank yesterday and wasnt to good 40.4mpg but anything over 25mpg like my old corolla did is good to me this low number is due to the winter deciding to show up again earlier in the week so i was expecting a low number Edited April 26, 2013 by Da0ne

Riggo Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I also thought this was good. This was from a few days ago on my way to work. Not too bad I thought for a car with so few miles on it. If it gets even better that's icing on the cake... 3 Da0ne, jeff_h and hybridbear reacted to this

Our Honda Accord hybrid was often 2-4 MPG optimistic. That is way more agregious that the FFH computer. It's interesting to see how far off the Toyota hybrids are. From comments made by car reviewers and by Prius and TCH owners it seems that their MPG calculations can be as much as 5 MPG too high quite often. The problem with comparing the computer with the pump on a tank-by-tank basis is that the gallons from the pump are too variable. A better comparison is to look at the Lifetime Summary and what you calculate as Lifetime from Fuelly or another source.

Exactly - my Prius was 1.5-2 MPG optimistic on the display too.
mokee Report post Posted April 27, 2013 In all the Fords I've owned my GPS SOG has always been lower than my speedometer readings, and the engine temp gauge needle has always gone to the same spot and not moved. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the FFH MPG reading doesn't have some "fudge" programmed into it.

mokee Report post Posted April 28, 2013 Yesterday I found out my Trip Summary Fuel Use reading goes up to 999.9 MPG. I backed the FFH up to my garage to unload stuff in the trunk and left it parked in the drive. Later on she stayed in golf cart mode when I turned her around and tucked her inside the garage. Alas, I left my cell phone in the house and didn't get a picture.

gadgetguy Report post Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) Just a quick post for a short trip MPG that has been the best so far even for a short trip like this. neod192 Report post Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Good trip today! I had to stop 1/3 of the way to work to drop off a DVD at RedBox, so the other 2/3 of the trip was slower and started with a warm engine: I think this is my highest MPG trip so far, other than the 999.9 I get when I only move a few feet in EV.
