What changes would you like to see?

If you could suggest to Ford what changes you would like to see for the 2014 or 2015 Fusion Hybrid, what would they be? I feel Ford has gotten all the major things right, with only minor tweaks being on my wish list:

1. Make the Intelligent Key and Push Button Start standard on the SE, or at least part of the Technology Package. With all the other high tech options, the key into the ignition is too old school. Or Ford can make a Dune interior available with the Titanium Trim (along with Luxury wheels). If they don’t do this, at least put an illuminated ring around the ignition. I feel awkward almost every time I try to find the slot to insert the key.

2. Give the passenger seat the same adjustment options the driver’s seat has (add height and lumbar support). As my wife says, “What am I, chopped liver?”.

3. Improve Voice Control for the Navigation.

4. Make Ambient Lighting available for the SE.

5. Have the Climate Control always go back to its last setting. If a different temperature is preferred by the passenger (chopped liver again) it has to be reset each time the car is driven. The fan also usually goes to a higher setting than was last used.

6. Make the volume control for the audio system a little less coarse in its adjustment.

Compared to other all new design cars, I feel this list is amazingly short. I’m sure other drivers will add to it, but I don’t think anyone will request a change in the ergonomics for the driver. Those at Ford responsible for the exterior and interior design should get a medal.

You've nailed it. The mechanical key is a real throwback in this car and its thickness makes every insertion a PITA.

I first thought that the additional shelf in the glove box would be handy to help keep things organized, but have found that the shelf does not seem to be deep enough to hold things in place, so most times when I open the glove box the contents from the top shelf fall out and the "improvement in organization" turns into a "PITA to straighten it out yet again"...

 

But if this is the biggest complaint thus far, life is good.

From what I've read, filling up your tank is a crapshoot. I would like that fixed. It shouldn't be so difficult to fill your tank.

There is a setting in the left gauge under vehicle that lets you set the climate control to auto or "last setting." That should solve the problem with remote start and climate settings.

This option is only available if the car is equipped with Remote Start and, I may be wrong, it applies only to the climate settings that are used during the warm up/cool down period after the Remote Start.

TX, I came very close to making this my wish #7, but then I thought, do you tell your very beautiful wife that she would look better is she would just wear this piece of jewelry? During my search for a new vehicle, the Audi style LEDs were high up on my priority list. I really like them, but I am so happy with the looks of the Fusion, my desire for LEDs has faded. Of course, if Ford decides to add them down the line, I'm not going to suggest "Don't do it".

 

I'm very happy with the glove compartment. At first, some of my "stuff" would fall to the door, but after I got everything carefully arranged, that rarely happens and everything is accessible. My wife is really impressed. She had always made fun of my glove compartment in all my other vehicles with comments like "How do you find anything in here?". I think the shelf is a great idea, and it is just the right depth for the Owner's Manual pouch. The soft opening door is also a nice luxury touch, like the soft closing toilet seats I would like to have someday.

Agree with all the above. Would also like to be able to put MyView on the RH display. Think anyone from Ford follows these posts? Would be nicew to get some feedback fromn them once in a while.

DC - My thoughts exactly. This was going to be my #8 wish. The info on the right display is usually just a duplicate of what is available on the center home screen. When the right screen shows the compass, it's nice that it also has the speed limit for the road you're on, but why not also have that info on the center screen compass? The timeline for songs shows on the right display and is something you don't get from the home screen, but I could live without that.

The key is definitely a PITA. I often hit the switch for the sync voice command when I pull the key out. The light ring around it would also be a nice feature if we have to use the key. The whole steering wheel ignition thing is a pain period.Especially since they've gone to the airbag. Its so big and blocks the view of the ignition. Wish they'd move it.

Xenon or LED headlights would be a plus as well. Unless I'm wrong this comes with Halogen?

The pen holder is inside the armrest box on the right side front, there is a hole to stick it in.

Some molding (moulding?) around the front and rear windshields.

Maybe some rubber with a nice chrome insert.

The blank look it currently has seems unfinished to my eye.

 

Perhaps Ford has reduced a maintenance item by removing it but esthetics comes into play here.

Yes, taking away the Intelligent Access and Push Button Start to reserve for the Titanium really ticked me off after all the bragging about their availability before invention of the Hybrid Titanium. And I would have gone for the Titanium if not for the mandatory Dark leather.

Ford has you covered on this one. Look in the center console, there is a vertical pen holder built it. I would put a pen in it, but I'm sure the ink would freeze.

My wife has only one issue. She is left handed and when she pushes the button to open the key - it opens into her hand.

 

About the lack of push button start. My Dad had many cars with push button start. I even remember the starter being on the floor. When the steering column key start came out, everybody thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

 

Funny thing how everything goes full circle.

Yes, my first car was a 1951 Pontiac, had the headlight high/low beam button on the floor.

We could buy Model A's (and did) back then for $35. How time flies.
