The Scoop on JOB2 Start Date for 2013 - Fusion Hybrid Titanium and Energi

Oh auto stop, I see. Maybe in a year or two. We already have collision avoidance, but that uses radar, not the camera.

Between the active stop, ACC, Lane Departure and steering assist, I don't see why we even have to drive ourselves anymore. Let's get the automated car in full swing, then I won't have to worry about a designated driver or getting a cab on the weekends. Wooooo hooooo..

Yes the City Assist would be nice, but what I'm actually looking for would be more along the lines of a Start/Stop Assist for stop and go Traffic under say 15mph. Ford has the Tech and has been testing it for years (it's in the Volvo cars now), they just haven't released it yet for mass production. They've also got the ability for front or Rear in park assist. I imagine those features will be added in 2-3 years but hey if they're going to throw those out there for the 2014 model year, I'm in!

A lot depends on your dealers allocation. If they have a bunch of Fusion on the lot, they will be low on the allocation list, but if only a couple, then chances are good yours will be higher on the list when they roll through the assignments. Although I havent heard if Ruby Red has been taken off commodity hold yet.

 

Since my dealer has 9 Fusions sitting on his lot, chances for my order being sent through anytime soon are slim to none. Its a good chance that it would be 12-14 weeks on mine, if not longer, unless by some miracle they have a fire sale and sell off all 9 in a week. I should hear back later today if I stick with the HyTi or will be driving something else instead, put an inquiry on what a new Flex would run, and got an answer I like, so they are going to process the financing with Ford and see if it goes through. If it does then the current 13 FFH will be replaced by a Flex instead. Would be nice if they let the order go through on the HyTi though,pretty sure it would sell quickly too. I would at least like the chance to take it for a spin once.

Well they have 4 HyTi's on order none in stock and 3 SE hybrids in stock 2 on order and 8 Energi's on the lot, I don't know how this would affect my order but I'm mostly patient.....mostly.

ETIS site states my car was built yesterday (4/4/2013). My dealer still maintains that it was built last week (3/25/2013) and states that his information data-base is not available to the public - public data-bases are maintained separately from "inside Ford only" data-bases. He just informed me that he can see from his data-base that the car has been installed in the shipping container and is now awaiting movement to the rail car. Obviously, if the car was just built yesterday, it must have gone right into the box. I believe my dealer because he shared proof of the container status notification with me via email attachment. Assuming that the car was truely built last week, what may have delayed ETIS car built status could have had something to do with my car being chosen for an audit evaluation (sample audit documented by someone else on this site earlier) - in other words, cars aren't statused as "built" until after inspection and, following audit completion, my car was statused as built. As my dealer has informed me, the car was put into the shipping container today. This boils down to progress I suppose.

I am not so sure about the above info, using my build as a reference. I got a cyberdman update on Dec 11th of 'in production - trim line' with status date of Dec 10th and then I checked Etis each day and on Dec 12th saw that Etis populated the build date of Dec 11th. Then on Dec 18th I asked for another cyberdman update and the status was 'Awaiting Shipment - Re-Released - Ford Hermosillo Assembly, SO Dec-15-2012, 00:00 EST.' which tells me OK I guess they found some issue that needed tweaking and that was completed on Dec 15th. However the build date in Etis still shows Dec 11th, and I expect it will match the date in OASIS for the Production Date when I do take it for service since I checked my other Ford VINs between Etis and the work orders from the service dept and the dates match. So this leads be to believe that the date shown in Etis is correct for the build and the date of Mar 25th on yours is when the VIN was sent to production? If the dealer claims to have the inside info then he/she should be able to produce a historical vehicle visibility report that shows the full status and date/time of each step, right? I am an authority of nothing but tend to think that the VVR would have the correct info, wouldn't it?

Placed into a shipping container? They are driven onto the 3 deck rail car.

My dealer's exact wording was "Shipping container has it" and he attached a screen grab of the information he had read => "2222 P0R VIN Number Fusion Awaiting Shipment -01002 (Allied Systems, Ltd) Ramp 24 Apr 05-2013, TBD TBD 00:11 MT N/A".

I sure wouldn't want to be loaded on the bottom level - However, unlike the rest of you unfortunate individuals, my car is loaded in a shipping container to protect it from external bad stuff.

Here's what I think it is. The car has been released for shipment. Cars from Mexico are not placed in shipping containers they are driven onto the rail cars for delivery. There is no room for shipping containers on the rail cars. If a car is to be placed in a shipping container it is transported to a freight dock, placed into the container and placed on a ship for overseas transport.

 

If your car is in fact coming by ship, it will be placed on a boat that will travel on the Pacific Ocean, through the Panama Canal, up the Atlantic Ocean to the St Lawrence Seaway through Lake Ontario to Lake Erie and up to Michigan where you live.

 

Good luck with that. When you get your rail car number you can track it by phone.

OK, so I'm certainly glad you've got what appears to be a good grasp on Ford shipment methods from its Hermosillo facility. Gee, I sure hope my container doesn't get sea water spray on it as it transits from the Pacific Ocean thru the canal, etc. You don't suppose the transport vessel will travel thru the Gulf of Mexico, up the Atlantic seaboard to enter the St Lawrence Seaway do you?

Thats Nutz! Actually cars going overseas dont go in shipping containers either, they are transported in huge car carriers which are nothing more than huge indoor parking lots with tie downs.

 

However, the rail car can technically be called the shipping container, since they are enclosed. :)
