Easy Rider Report post Posted August 1, 2014 That doesn't matter since the car will know that they are reversed and correct the wipers when you turn on the car. The car only "knows" the positions of the spindles or motors. It knows nothing about the position of the actual wiper arms. The problem comes in when the arms are not positioned on the spindles correctly. gkinla Report post Posted August 1, 2014 The car only "knows" the positions of the spindles or motors. It knows nothing about the position of the actual wiper arms. The problem comes in when the arms are not positioned on the spindles correctly. You are correct in that the car only knows the position of the motors. When you add the wiper arms, then it becomes a system. So if the wiper arms are installed off index, there is a binding or mismatch of the final position of the motor(s), in the park position. The car knew this and moved the arms to a neutral position when power was applied to the wiper motors. When power was removed the arms moved back to the incorrect index. The arms didn't move much, maybe a 1/4 inch. After the technician removed and reinstalled the arms, they stayed in the park position. 3 GrySql, hybridbear and corncobs reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted August 1, 2014 That doesn't matter since the car will know that they are reversed and correct the wipers when you turn on the car. Have you ever noticed that the wipers are "powerless" when the car is off? Just leave them in a weird state like upside down you described. Acdii showed me that some time ago and it was pretty need to see the car reorganizing the wipers. Try it out its a fun party joke! This is really useful for washing the car and moving the wipers out of the way. They are completely free-moving when the car is off. On the FFH you can pretty much just lift them straight out from the windshield into their folded up position. On the Focus Electric they hide under the hood so I have to turn them out & then lift them up when washing the car. It's so nice that they just move freely without resistance to do this. Other cars I've had do not do this. 2 gkinla and GrySql reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Just brought my car home from the Dealer that performed my A/C repair. It is sweet smelling again, it had a few greasy fingerprints but we got that cleaned up easily.I tried all my dash and center stack operations, all good, wipers good - no problems that I am currently aware of. They put a new cabin air filter in as part of the TSB. They also reprogrammed my FCIM so now when the A/C button is off the compressor is off, I verified this by watching the left dash display as I pushed the A/C button. On my Work Order it reads: Complaint: Customer states A/C button shows off but electric A/C is still on. (Tech notes -->) Performed BCE Test. Reprogrammed FCIM as per SSM 44558. HVAC parts replaced:1 - EG9Z-19B555-C EVAPORATOR1 - W714878-S439 - BOLT Edited August 15, 2014 by GrySql 4 corncobs, SteveB_TX, acdii and 1 other reacted to this
DeeCee Report post Posted August 3, 2014 Glad to hear all went well with the repair. So far after 27.000 miles I have not had the problem. Knock on wood. 1 GrySql reacted to this
Texasota Report post Posted August 3, 2014 Just brought my car home from the Dealer that performed my A/C repair. It is sweet smelling again, it had a few greasy fingerprints but we got that cleaned up easily.Glad you have it back home and everything is working properly. I do have a question that maybe you can answer after having this repair performed. There has been many posts about what caused the stinky smell. One theory has been that it is a defective plastic that stinks all by itself independent of mold/mildew. Another is that the stinky smell is from mold/mildew. Do you know what the cause is? GrySql Report post Posted August 3, 2014 No idea, but it sure smelled like mold or mildew. The Work Order starts by saying that the A/C Plenum was being replaced but the Parts list only says Evaporator.
scn101 Report post Posted August 3, 2014 No idea, but it sure smelled like mold or mildew. The Work Order starts by saying that the A/C Plenum was being replaced but the Parts list only says Evaporator. On the Fusion, it looks like the evaporator is part of the plenum and all one assembly. See it here:http://parts.autonationfordwhitebearlake.com/auto-parts/2013/ford/fusion/hvac/motors-case-and-related-components/?trim=se&engine=2-5l-l4-gas Surprising, at $300, the part isn't as expensive as I thought, but oh the labor. 1 GrySql reacted to this
BK Fusion Report post Posted August 23, 2014 So we were finally able to take in our Fusion on August 12th. "We'll just need it for a few days!" "Um, I'm pretty sure it's going to take you longer than that..."Nope!"Ok buddy.Got calls pretty much every other day since then. "This is a real bear!" "Yeah, I, the customer, tried to warn you."Finally got the call yesterday that they were all done at 2:22 yesterday. "Come on down it's ready!" ELEVEN DAYS.Arrived at service counter about 3:15. "We're just cleaning it for you - little bit of a scramble today!" <-- Variations of this for the next half hour.Turns out they lost the keys. I am beyond words. Either I have the most imcompetent service advisor or the whole place is full of morons. So I have a rental. Again. While they figure out how to conjur up keys. There really are no words about this experience with this car or this service department. It has been in the shop for at least 5 weeks since we've owned it. I am really at a loss as to how to proceed. If they can't even bother to keep the keys in a safe place I can't imagine they did this repair correctly. If they can't even bother to keep the keys in a safe place I can't imagine they did this repair correctly. You can get in contact with this Forum's Ford CS Rep, Crystal.http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9047-new-fordservice-rep/?p=84500 The other interface that may help in the future is if you receive a Ford 'Quick Touch' Service Feedback Survey initiated from your Dealer via email. In that survey you can tell it like it happened.Ford corporate can use that Survey in it's dealings with that Ford Dealer.Several of our forum members who have had unsatisfactory service issues with a Ford Dealer have filled out and returned the Survey and been contacted by the Dealer very quickly. Some have received recompense for the service dept's failings. BTW, to my knowledge my Dealer has done two of these HVAC replacements. Once the proper parts were on hand the first job took about 5 days, mine took 3 days. I just filled out a Ford QT Service Survey, it looked like this (I blanked out the names): Edited August 24, 2014 by GrySql 1 hybridbear reacted to this
Barsoom Report post Posted August 24, 2014 BTW, to my knowledge my Dealer has done two of these HVAC replacements. Once the proper parts were on hand the first job took about 5 days, mine took 3 days. My SA was confident that her team can do the job in a day. I said I didn't think so, three days maybe. She said they'e a crack team. I said I wanted more time. We agreed on dropping it off early this coming Wednesday morning with a scheduled pick-up on Friday afternoon. We'll see. 1 GrySql reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted August 24, 2014 My doors were not removed, just the front seats, center console and dash. I was told it took three people to leverage out the dashboard with all the innerds, then three to put it back. Before you leave the Service Dept on Friday check every possible dashboard, steering wheel button/stalk and MFT function - I forgot two items. My trunk release button didn't work and now my rear camera view on the MFT has a very large portion of my rear bumper showing. They are ready and willing to fix these things but I haven't made it back yet. I had some greasy fingerprints on the headliner too, an easy fix. Plus, they are going to disconnect your battery so be prepared to have to re-set a few Sync/MFT items.-On the positive side my A/C has no hint of an unpleasant smell, wonderful. 1 corncobs reacted to this
Barsoom Report post Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks! I also have a Pro Clip for my phone on the plastic post under the radio, so I'm thinking that I should remove this before bringing the car in. I'll also empty out all the stuff in the center storage console and glove box. Now that I just finished all the reprogramming around the 12V battery, should I have them reset all of that again, too? I just took a legal sized box and put it all in there, in one place, so I could put it back easily.I had the FCIM re-programming done after they finished the install, a perfect time with the new unit in place. I had to do a Bluetooth re-pair for the phone, my MFT Nav addresses were gone, Sirius needed to be re-set and the radio settings were random.I still haven't got it back to the way it was, but eventually. You get a new Cabin Filter with this though. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted August 25, 2014 Okay, I'd forgotten. I got the Surveys regularly, seeing as I used to be there all the time - my dealer is not afraid of a negative comment, they make things right if it's possible.Usually I give them all good scores and a nice comment. This last one was not quite 'exceed your expectations' but no one is perfect so I put a nice comment.I just have to make time to get the FFH back there. I'm finished with the repairs on my CPO Flex so I'll make the 70 mile drive to the Dealer and get the last things fixed on the FFH.I plan to keep the FFH a long time and hope I am done with all the 2013 early adopter problems.Other than that A/C smell it's been a solid car for over a year now, on top of that this FCIM re-programming was a very good improvement. The new Conti tires are a nice change, it's a better driving car now.I know this because my wife mentions it, she has always liked traveling in the FFH and now she likes it even more.So do I. 1 acdii reacted to this

I paid my dues as an early adopter on a 2012 Focus and sure hope I don't have to go through that experience again. 1 GrySql reacted to this
