gkinla Report post Posted May 19, 2014 And by agreeing to wait a week they will move the ambient lighting and reinstall it at no charge. That's fair. As a matter of fact, this is true. I was informed by my SA that the move and re-install of the ambient lighting will be at no cost to me. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
gkinla Report post Posted May 19, 2014 For people that have this issue is yours all the time? mine seems to come and go I would hate to have to keep driving to the dealer and they say nope nothing wrong just for the next day im driving to have the smell. Whenever I turn on the cooling the musty smell appears. Doesn't do it in vent mode or heating. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
fusionTX Report post Posted May 19, 2014 This is what I just heard from the dealer that services my car. This is not the same dealer where I bought my car.My car has been in once for the A/C issue, where they did the deodorizer ting. I looked over the information and spoke with the techs. They have not performed this TSB on a vehicle yet. We will need to schedule yours in to perform the diagnostics and most likely the TSB. If the vehicle is under warranty and we perform the TSB, I will be able to get you 30.00 assistance per day to go toward a rental vehicle. Let me know what works for you. cincidaddi Report post Posted May 19, 2014 For people that have this issue is yours all the time? mine seems to come and go I would hate to have to keep driving to the dealer and they say nope nothing wrong just for the next day im driving to have the smell. I live in SW Ohio. The smell started last summer around 8000 miles for me but it was faint. It went away during the winter then in the April as the temperature went up to 80 degrees, it's back and stronger. I have it now consistently whenever I start up the A/C though it will subside after about 10 minutes of running it. I would describe it as disturbing but not yet unbearbable. It is definitely progressing in repeatablility and stench as temperatures are steadily rising.

gkinla Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Holy Smokes, that looks like a lot of work, guaranteed some rattles after that TSB is performed. You could have gone 10 years without saying the obvious, LOL. The whole dash needs to come apart to replace the CCH. I'm hoping that the job will be done meticulously and rattles and electrical will be a non issue. 3 hybridbear, jeff_h and GrySql reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted May 21, 2014 Some people live in a fantasy world! ;)I sure hope gkinla is right about the job being done perfectly because I use the same Dealer and will be going in a couple weeks for the same repair. My very early FFH has been remarkably quiet and rattle free and would like it to remain that way. :rating: 3 hybridbear, corncobs and gkinla reacted to this
BK Fusion Report post Posted May 21, 2014 Our 2013 FFH has developed this problem, right around the 10k mark. Apparently the SO didn't even mention it to the SA when the oil was changed a few weeks ago, and hadn't even told me about it until last weekend. Looking forward to getting this taken care of. Thanks for posting the TSB.
hermans Report post Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) II got my oil changed today at the dealer and also had them change the cabin filter. I have not had the "smell issue" but wanted to take a look at the cabin filter. It was really dirty which surprised me for only having 13,8k miles on the car. No mold but plenty dirty and bugs. Next time I change the filter I will do it myself. GrySql, I told my dealer about your dealer serving meals...he wanted to know what your dealer's hourly rate was. GrySql Report post Posted May 28, 2014 LOL!My Dealer has it's own 'cafe' in the Waiting Room, customers are given a coupon for a free meal when their car is being serviced. It's a simple thing, a short order menu, but made to order. There is a reason they are rated #1 in Ford Service in the USA. All my service has been free, including fuel for the rental cars I've had.I do drive a long way to get this privilege. We'll see just how good they are when I have my HVAC system replaced. 3 gkinla, hybridbear and GrayStrider reacted to this

We'll see just how good they are when I have my HVAC system replaced.I dropped my FFH off this morning to have the CCH replaced. Because this is a warranty repair, I was given a $100 voucher for an Enterprise rental and got my coupon for a free breakfast. This dealer has an Enterprise rental desk on site. If it takes longer, then the rental will be extended past the $100. I'm hoping I'll get my FFH back by Friday. It was nice getting into a car without having the HVAC smelling musty. Easy Rider Report post Posted May 28, 2014 I was given a $100 voucher for and Enterprise rental That's the second time I've seen that "allowance toward a rental car" and I do NOT think that is the deal that the Ford warranty promises, is it ?Not if the total cost is more than the voucher or allowance. It appears that my dealer isn't the best in the country but at least they provide a real loaner for multiple day visits.

It appears that my dealer isn't the best in the country but at least they provide a real loaner for multiple day visits.I can report only what I was told by my SA regarding the rental for the CCH replacement. This is a huge dealer, the service department has many cars come through the service line during a day. I can imagine that 5 or more services may need a several day repair or even and all day repair. They have a courtesy drop off van for those who can't wait, but you need to get back by yourself. I've had the dealer give me a paid for rental for an all day repair where getting back was not and easy thing to schedule. Having 6 to 8 "real loaners" on hand may be cost preventative, so they have Enterprise on the facility at a cost of $22/$25 per day per rental. Someone above asked what their hourly rate is...$118 per hour. I had some work done out of warranty. Most of their work performed is by published cost per job. hermans Report post Posted May 28, 2014 $118/hour...now I see how they can feed you. My dealer rate is $78./hour. They provide all the coffe i want to drink, donuts in the AM, soft drinks and they have always given me a free loaner when the have my car all day and they have a drop-off service. Easy Rider Report post Posted May 28, 2014 I can report only what I was told by my SA regarding the rental for the CCH replacement. You could report what it says in the warranty document......maybe.My car isn't here now or I would look it up.I have learned to believe something around ZERO percent of what service advisors tell me. It is not a problem unless the repair takes longer than the "allowance" will cover. What happens then ?? And the dealer's excuses are just that.......an excuse. If they are obligated to provide you a loaner, the "allowance" should be unlimited. If you end up having to pick up part of the tab, that GREATLY reduces their incentive to complete the job in a reasonable amount of time. gkinla Report post Posted May 28, 2014 Easy Rider As I said in another post that the allowance for the rental will be extended if the repairs took longer than the initial $100 allowance. So there will be no out of pocket cost to me. This is a warranty repair covered by Ford not the dealer. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this

I'm sorry, I must have missed the mention that the "allowance" would be extended. It is a WARRANTY repair. The fact that it was approved by Ford in a TSB has no bearing on the standard WARRANTY provisions. (And now I find that "multi-quote" doesn't work either.) 1 gkinla reacted to this
gkinla Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Got my FFH back today after having the Climate Control Housing TSB done. No odors, no rattles, the after market ambient lighting works and all my presets were still available. Having the radio and system presets available surprised me. I thought for sure that I would have to reprogram everything, so I took pictures of all the radio presets before I gave the car to the dealer. The repair took one week. 3 acdii, hybridbear and GrySql reacted to this
