I did a search and didn't see an answer. To those that have had the windows tinted....... I had mine tinted today and the shop said they couldn't put a strip on top of the front windshield because they couldn't get the rear view mirror off, has any one been able to have theirs done and if so how did they go about it ?

thanks,

highway

The arm and mirror assembly can be removed, maybe they were referring to the part that is adhered directly to the windshield.

I had my windshield replaced just last week... the mirror is removed with a hammer where it is glued to the glass. The danger here is obvious but that is how they do it at my dealership.

I had my guy trim around the rear view mirror. I personally think a car's tint is incomplete without an eyebrow. The weather is humid down here 365 a year, so tint is very commonplace among everyone (except for rental car drivers).

I paid a guy I know that tints all our vehicles $180 - plus he came to my house. VERY high quality tint that won't fade or turn purple, guaranteed. Local legal limit is 35%, but I get away with 20%.

Right after getting tinted

thanks for the pics bigb252 and that indeed looks great :) , our mirror mounts look different tho, mine is a narrow bar about 1" wide that goes from the top of windshiel down about 4 inches

Ah, I see. It shouldn't be much different, if your tint people did what mine did and trim around the mounts ;)

I wish mine went lower but, I had to stay over the AS1 line to be legal.
