  1. The OEM wipers are junk and I got tired of screwing around with inferior replacement wipers so today I bought some Bosch Icon wipers. A couple of weeks ago I went to get Icon's but ended up purchasing some Anco Contour because they were two for one and the clerk said they were as good as the Bosch, no way. The Anco's left streaks at the top of the windshield and are flimsy compared to the Icon's. I haven't driven in any weather but I can tell from the washer they clear the windshield much better. They were pricey, $44 for the two but hopefully worth it. For those interested the Bosch stock #'s are: 419B and 424A.
  2. Thanks drolds1 that worked. It wasn't as easy as it looks, (at least not for me) it had to be off the stop point and I had to push in the button and at the same time push in the paperclip and lift up. I looked in the index of the OM and saw nothing on head rests/head restraints, I didn't take the time to page through the book to the Seating and Safety Restraints section. Cheers.
  3. Can the rear seat headrests be removed? I tried pulling them with and without the button pushed in and they only raise one click. I also tried by pulling out on the button. I would like to remove the center for better visibility out the back and temporarily remove the sides to load a flat screen TV in the box between the rear seat fronts and the back of the front seats with the rear seats down. I'm trying to increase the space for hauling stuff from Mpls to AZ. If it matters, I have leather seats.
  4. Regarding the mirror, I don't think disableing the mirror will change his ability to see out of the mirror any better on a dark road. If there are no lights from behind the mirror is in its normal reflective state. Also, any time you place the car in reverse the auto dim is disabled, you can even notice the mirror lightening during the day.
  5. OK, I'll bite. Why would anyone want to disable this feature? :headscratch: Mine works the way it's supposed to and makes it safer driving at night.
  6. Mike, I don't know about the cargo organizers but I installed a cargo net. You have to pull away the trunk liner from around the tail lights and locate the "nut" behind the liner. Cut a small X in the trunk liner and push the T hooks through and screw into the nut. You'll be good to go.
  7. Get a second and third opinion. Take it to another Ford dealership and to an independent body shop to see what they say. If a rock struck it hard enough to chip the paint it should have left a small dent in the plastic bumper cover.
  8. You're right. I now remember reading that when the specs came out for the 2011's. You're also right about not needing one if you have BLIS, it's a bit redundant. I installed a 1.5" convex mirror on mine the day after I picked up the car and use it all the time.
  9. I'm not an electronics expert or a Lawyer so this is just a guess. As the unit sits in the dash of the car I would say it is not possible to install a PS3 or similar gaming device into the SYNC/NAV system. Now, if one had the knowledge and ability, they could bypass circuits, create new circuitry, add plug ins and install programs, it might be possible to do. To answer your original question, I don't know. Once again, I'm not a lawyer, but I believe you would have to have a pretty good one to get you out of a liability lawsuit if the vehicle was ever in a collision involving another person or property. I don't think trying to tell a judge and jury it wasn't a distraction and only the passenger was playing Mortal Combat would be enough. :headscratch:
  10. I don't have BLIS on my Fusion but my educated guess is it will not affect the operation of the system. The sensors are located on the outer ends of the rear bumper, it's only an indicator light on the mirror. Of course, you can ask a service technician when you pick up the car. I hope this helps. Edit: It just dawned on me. If you are picking up a new 2011 the spot mirror is integrated into the flat mirror, no need for a stick on convex mirror.
  11. I don't know how much of the forum you have had a chance to read but I would listen very closely for the sloshing sound many have experienced with the 2010 models, assuming you're picking up a 2011. (See the General Powertrain Discussion for more info). Look at the temp gauge, if it's at normal operating temp, that means the salesman took the car out to fill it up or test drive it to make sure it was ready to go. If he or she did that, the noise may not be as noticeable, listen closely on the passenger side under the glovebox. I'm trying not to believe they would intentionally warm the car to eliminate the sloshing sound. Good luck with your new ride.
  12. You must have really wanted that sun roof to put up with having to purchase a SYNC system along with it. If it makes you feel any better think of the sun roof costing $400. If a SYNC system is never used, does it still exist?
  13. I read a post elsewhere about early 2010 Milan's having issues with the trunk lid not centered. The gap at the tail light was not equal on both sides. I don't recall if it caused any problems other than appearance. Check to see if this is the issue, if it is, and that's the reason the lens chipped, it becomes a warranty issue. Good luck.
  14. I do? Someone must have installed it on my car when I wasn't looking. For the record, I only know as much as I do about car maintenance, but I do know not to buy gimmicks and magic potions that supposedly improve a cars performance. mkpolley, see my other posts elsewhere in the forum explaining the 46.7 mpg and my more common mpg performance.
