Other than laziness, I am not sure why the shop would tell you that. If you look at the mirror assembly/mount, it will become obvious how to remove it. Ask the shop to try again, but a little harder. Good luck. :beerchug:

Sithil Report post Posted March 19, 2010 Like stated should not have been a problem. I actually wouldn't go back to the same shop if possible. Take it to a different tint shop with more competent workers. Personally I opted not to add the eyebrow since my windows are darker than legal and I've been told by a several cops (local, sheriff, and state) that they specifically look for it when popping people for illegal tint. fusion_vision Report post Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) I had my windshield replaced just last week... the mirror is removed with a hammer where it is glued to the glass. The danger here is obvious but that is how they do it at my dealership. Ed I did a search and didn't see an answer. To those that have had the windows tinted....... I had mine tinted today and the shop said they couldn't put a strip on top of the front windshield because they couldn't get the rear view mirror off, has any one been able to have theirs done and if so how did they go about it ? thanks, highway I had my guy trim around the rear view mirror. I personally think a car's tint is incomplete without an eyebrow. The weather is humid down here 365 a year, so tint is very commonplace among everyone (except for rental car drivers). I paid a guy I know that tints all our vehicles $180 - plus he came to my house. VERY high quality tint that won't fade or turn purple, guaranteed. Local legal limit is 35%, but I get away with 20%. It shouldn't be much different, if your tint people did what mine did and trim around the mounts ;)
DJE Report post Posted March 20, 2010 I wish mine went lower but, I had to stay over the AS1 line to be legal.
jona2125 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 Got mislead, thought you were talking about tinting the whole windshield like I got done. The shop I took mine too cut around the mount thats adhered to the windshield, twice, once for the full windshield layer and again for the strip. Fuze-ion Report post Posted October 25, 2010 I didn't get anything put on the Windshield, but did get 35% placed on the (4) side and the rear window. Average price around VA is $175.
08conFusion Report post Posted October 25, 2010 I have 4% on all 4 side and rear windows, and a 15% strip on the windshield that just comes to the top of the mirror mount. I paid about $150 for all of it. Virginia has the strictest tint laws in the country. Legal is 50% on the front windows so It's a constant battle with the police. Only 5 tickets this year though!
