FFH Without Navigator Screen Still Has Turn by Turn?

Recommended Posts

I saw this quote on this site.

I've had my Ford Fusion ('10) for 3 or 4 weeks now and it is amazing. A true turn around from old misconceptions of American cars. Ford finally nailed it - great look, great handling, almost 200hp and I get better mpg's than the EPA rated 36/41. Using the on mpg indicators - I keep it around 40 on the highway, usually averaging 40-45mpg's.

I got all the bells and whistles, but no Navigation - but thats ok! Because the MS Sync has an update that now gives you turn by turn just by talking to it (and it works nicely).

I see this as the American hybrid - no goofy look, good warranty (even better if you extend it like I did), and great mpg's - as well as all the extras (heated leather, sony 12 speaker surround, moon roof). All this without sacrificing the feeling of driving a real car (unlike most hybrids).

Feels more like a luxury car. Well worth it.

Any truth to this navigator without the screen?

Magic! It uses your phone to connect to a database and--ok, magic makes it easier to explain.

Here's a link with video goodness;

So, this is just like a decent GPS Nav system minus the map screen then. I have heard complaints that SYNC doesn't reconnize your spoken words. There are a few videos floating around showing that frustration. Anyone here have real life user problems in that regard or has it worked seamlesly?

Mine w/o navigation recognises my wife and my voices with no problem.

Mine with Nav works awesome. The only times it may have trouble is artist names that have weird pronunciations (Matisyahu) but even those it will usually get.

So FFH without the screen still has a built in GPS. The FFH with the screen will display the map. I just need to be sure I can use it in Hawaii (although I'll probably never get lost here I like the way it looks). I know the Sirius radio will not work here, but everything else should.

One funny problem with the Sync is that I can't get the system to direct me to the "OutBACK Steakhouse"; the system ALWAYS reverts to the previous menu; it focuses only the "BACK". But thats the only issue I've found thus far. :hysterical:
