Won't run in EV mode, ICE kicks in immediately.

@ Automate -  earlier this year someone posted here a Ford Tech Service Bulletin that corrects this problem by reprogramming the computer.  I copied out the Bulletin, took it to my dealer (Kennedy Ford, Conshohocken, PA) and they fixed it for $130.  It has been running ~ 40-41 mpg since, altho its gone down somewhat b/c of the cold weather, as it always did before.

Has anyone gotten resolution with this? My 2010 FFH has never been in storage but won’t operate in electric anymore. Once I’m fully stopped, the gas engine shuts off, but as soon as the brake lifts up a teeny bit (before the car even moves), the gas engine kicks back on. HVB shows fully charged all the time. Mileage as a gas-only car isn’t too bad, but I wish I had both functions back. I’m at about 115,000 miles.

Did you read the whole thread?  The fix is in there.  Look for the TSB number to give to your dealer.

My bad, I thought I'd read everything but was on mobile and lost the navigation buttons among the ads before I got to that TSB.

Thanks for replying, I'm thrilled there's a fix!

My 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid with about 53,000 miles on it began to refuse to go into EV mode while in gear unless the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, it developed a rough, fast idle at very low speeds.

It behaved like it had a weak throttle return that on an older car would be fixed by replacing the throttle spring.

The first try at solving the problem was to download the latest software as noted in the Technical Service Bulletin mentioned elsewhere in this thread for the ECM and cleaning the throttle body. That improved mileage a little but did not solve the problem. My service advisor did not think that there was a problem with the throttle body itself, because there were no error symbols or messages on the dashboard.

The next step which appears to have solved the problem was to replace the throttle body and to re-initialize/reprogram the ECM software. (I actually had to tell them to do that, because I had learned from researching the problem on the internet that throttle body problems were quite common in Fords.) The cost for the repair at my local Ford dealer was just over $250 for parts and labor.

I have the same problem at 50,000 miles on my 2011 MKZ hybrid. I did have the airbag replaced for recall, but cannot figure how that could be related to HV battery

If HV has lost some cells, would that not show up in the voltage, and be easy to diagnose?

Also, would a check of time for 0 t0 60 mph be a way to test the HV battery output? How much voltage is needed to get the EV assist  ?

You need to have the software fix described here.

There's probably nothing wrong with your HVB. If you can't do it yourself, print out the beginning of this thread and take it to the Dealer. It's a 15 minute job for them.

If you disconnect the battery at any time you need to recalibrate the ev control.    Otherwise it doesn't know when to kick in.

My 2011 Fusion Hybrid wtih 50,000 original miles had its EV-mode stop working today and is running the ICE almost constantly. The EVB fully charges and stays full, as the electric function never gets utilized because the green battery availability meter shows about 1 bar of power.  I know this seems similar to other posts. I have Forscan and rebalanced the battery (reset its age), which I did two years ago to good effect. But this time it didn't help, which I suspected as the issue last time didn't show a fully charged HVB like it is doing now.

Is this an issue with the battery age/condition? Can I use Forscan to check on the HVB's health?
