  1. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1084565_gaming-the-epa-gas-mileage-tests-how-it-really-works There is no doubt in my mind that Ford did exactly this. The Road & Track article they reference can be read here and is a good read
  2. So, it's starting to get warm in the Southern States and the A/Cs are starting to run hard. We have found from another thread that a large improvement may be made to economy when the A/C is under low load. Tint can help to keep the temps down, but enough to see a significant increase in economy? I had hoped to maybe document this over the summer by getting tint halfway through, but maybe others can chime in. Thoughts/Opinions? Admittedly, it would be pretty weird to see a 5+ mpg improvement just by making the windows darker, but maybe there's some proof out there.
  3. I'm curious how much correlation there is between fuel economy and EV miles. Highway driving obviously leads to less EV miles but not necessarily poor fuel economy. Mostly I'm curious about some of the users with poor MPGs, like MXGOLF, and how many EV miles they're getting. Please post your odometer info and Lifetime Summary EV miles, assuming that your Lifetime Summary matches the odometer. If you have trip odometer info available as well of your proportion of EV miles to ICE miles over an extended period of time please include that too along with a description of driving patterns
  4. This was mentioned before in a thread long, long ago but merits mentioning again with all the new owners on here. You may have noticed that sometimes your trip MPG and brake score numbers on the Trip Summary screen show up as blue and sometimes they show up as white. The numbers are blue when they are greater than your Lifetime Summary numbers and white when less than or equal to your Lifetime Summary number.
  5. Help, I have been driving my Ford Fusion Hybrid for two months and the highest MPG I have reached is 34. This is way lower than the advertised 47 mpg. I drive a mix of local and highway. Is anyone else having the same experience? Suggestions?

    Great MPG

From the album: Splendida Futuris (Bright Future)

The ability to charge your battery and drive 20 miles on only electric power offers an affordable option for today's car owners who are looking for alternative options to the fuel burning engine. When the battery runs out, the Energi will switch to hybrid mode and take you over six hundred miles on a full tank. As an added resource management tool, you can save your electric charge for use at a later time when it is more economical. By using the Ford Hybrid App, website, or MyFord Touch Hybrid Screen, you can schedule your Energi to be ready at a certain time and pre-cool/heat the cabin underthe electric power supplied by the charging station.

  7. How accurate have you found your Lifetime Summary MPG to be in comparison with fuelly? Mine so far has been very accurate. Fuelly calculates 41.8 and my Lifetime Summary says 41.8 as of today. Have others found the same thing?
  8. So this is my response to all the negativity on other threads. Please keep the discussion here positive. If you have negative things to say, feel free to say them, just not here. There has been a pervasive negativity in many threads and we risk alienating members by letting that attitude run rampant. Everyone here has something to contribute, and we don't want to push anyone away, that being said, there needs to be order. This topic will help provide that. So come here to comment about positive things about the Fusion. Talk about your MPG achievements, like Coach getting 53 MPG on a tank of gas. Talk about what you've noticed works to improve the mileage in the FFH, and maybe what doesn't work so well. Share what you like about the new Powertrain. Tell us, what is your favorite part of your new Fusion? This way we can keep the negative comments in perspective, we can avoid alienating valuable contributors and we can all benefit. So, please, if you are dissatisfied with your car, your MPGs or Ford, don't share that here. There are plenty of other threads that are appropriate for those discussions. Please respect your fellow Fusion Hybrid Forum Members and allow this topic to be a positive one. Thank you. Who's with me?? :)
  9. I finally was able to borrow new FFH and this is what I learned. Like the CMAX you gain about 3MPG with the Grill Covers. Water temp went from 177deg.F to 207deg.F right in the center of the operating temp for ICE(202-212 according to FORD). Outside temp was 35degF. I would like to do more testing but dealers don't want to put any miles on their cars. My test route on fwy was 14.4mi according to odometer but the GPS had 14.7mi which means you FFH owners are getting 2% better MPG's than you think you are. That could be as much as 1MPG. A step in the right direction.
  10. Just got my new 2013 FFH on December 1. Had to drive 180 miles to Portland to get it because of the lack of inventory in the Seattle caused by delays from the factory. Lots of cars on trains heading up the west coast now. Two fills up so far, getting 37.1 and 37.2 mpg respectively per tank with about 420 miles range. Best mpg on 36 mile one-way commute was 41.7 Hoping mileage gets better as it breaks in. Low fuel light comes on at about 10.5 gallons used. I have pushed it to 11.3 gallons after going into the red light warning. I will push it to see how close the limit is to the 13.5 gallon capacity. Best new technology on the car - adaptive cruise control! Sweet!
