  1. Me too.. I noticed it with the heat on as well. Musty, wet dog, anti-freeze whatever,, smelled badly as you stated. I noticed that the AC light was not on. I went ahead and turned it on and shortly the odor quit and has not returned.. Hasn't hurt mileage having the ac light on either.. still getting 35-36 even with it on. I think it has something to do with dehumidifcation while the ac is on.. Without ac it must accumulate water somewhere causing the odor. Try and let me know if it works for you too.
  2. Well then Ford shouldn't advertise it as a 40GB hard drive that you can use for your CD's. I am not going to use it anymore and I will not spend $200 to fix the problem in poor design. Interestingly, this is what NAVTEQ said: Hello William, Thank you for contacting NAVTEQ. Sirius doesn't provide the Grace notes update as the manufacturer of the unit created the system differently. Not only will you get updated Grace notes when you purchase the update but you will get updated roads, addresses and points of interests. If you need additional assistance, please send us your feedback by replying to this email or by speaking with one of our agents at the number provided below, Monday through Friday. Kind regards, NAVTEQ Customer Service P.O. Box 1588 Orem, UT 84059 888.628.6277 nabc_english@navteq.com
  3. What a RIDICULOUS waste of disk space !.. 30GB for Album info (which is really the GRACENOTES DATABASE). Navteq should allow updating of this (AT LEAST) from the web with an update program such as SYNC uses. I can't believe the only way to get Album information is to purchase a $199 map update disk which MAY OR MAY NOT contain the album information you were seeking to begin with.. This is just another glaring example of why CAR COMPANIES shouldn't hang on technology companies. So only now thanx to this post do I determine that I can ONLY USE 10GB of the 40GB system! What a rip off! Not only would I never pay $199 for a NAV map update, I would do so even LESS to obtain updated album information. Fortunately you CAN key in this information (albeit somewhat painful). Lesson to be learned here: Don't purchase embedded technology in a car like SYNC or Navigation !. Somewhat unahppy camper.
  4. I am a little uneasy pressuring to 40 psi for a couple of reasons, 1 - harsher ride and 2 increased hydroplaning possibility. I have driven two hybrids #1 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 36PSI in the tires for 60,000 miles with a lifetime avg of 36 MPG and now 4000 miles on the FFH with tires at normal pressures (not changed from FORD service) and still averaging 38-39 mpg on my daily 25mile each way trip with combined city/hwy driving.. In my experience, the 36 PSI is not harsh riding or decreases mileage enough to warrant any benefit of pressure over 36 PSI.. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.. to quote Dennis Miller... :drop:
  5. Rob.. I too traded in my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid.. I really loved that car, mine had 58,000 miles on it.. We must have had similar experiences.. I REALLY love the FFH. In comparison to the TCH, I love the added technology and my overall fuel economy is upward of 38MPG and improving all the time since I am over 3,000 miles now. The transition between EV and IC is even more seamless and smoother.. The engine noise is a little more, at times, comfort wise, pretty much the same. You gotta had it to FORD for doing the FFH. It is no wonder it is a very good seller.. Toyota hasn't developed or marketed the TCH as much as I think they should have and seems like they were much more focused on the "pius". I made the switch for a few reasons.. 1.) mileage was getting up there and I had no extended warranty other than hybrid components. 2.) I had an accident where the car was in the Toyota shop for 3 months to finally replace the entire wiring harness and I felt uneasy about future problems. 3.) There HAPPENED to be a FFH in the local Ford showroom on the day I decided to take a look at one. 4.) It was the right color (Titanium white pearl with black leather) 5.) There was still a fragment of a rebate left $850. On the downside, I gave up keyless entry and start, no homelink, no fold down seat, but I gained Synch, a better NAV, and travel-link + Sirius for about the same money as the TCH in 2006. Maybe a tad more for the FFH since I did purchase an extended warranty with this car.. All that technology breaking scares me in terms of future cost.
  6. Mine goes off EVERY day 5 days a week when I drive near a raised center median. The curb causes it to 'lock up'. I reported this to my dealer at the cars first service interval, but they reported that 'no codes' showed up.. I doubt that this problem would show any code. Based on the many replies on this subject, I would say this is a persistent problem that FORD should address. It makes any sort of reliance on the BLIS sensor pretty much worthless since the lockout stays locked and unusable for about 20 minutes of driving. :banghead:
  7. I took my FFH into the dealership for it's first service 3,000 miles. They said the BLIS noted NO CODE meaning they couldn't see any problem with it.. Maybe I'll just have to live with this one. Also had one glitch, a crunchy sounding drivers window, which they replaced a window regulator, which had to be overnighted to the dealer.. No more crunching noise. Brake recall performed as well. B
  8. I concur.. I was told that I would qualify for an $850 deduction based on my puchase on January 27th, 2010. Email from Dealer rep.: I have done some extra research since hearing back from my Ford Rep. He informed me that we (U.S.) had already surpassed the 60,000 unit mark in the last quarter of 2008. I have verified this to be true on IRS. Gov and have found additional information. In order to have received the full $3400 credit, the vehicle would have had to be purchased before April 1, 2009. For vehicles purchased on or after October 1, 2009 and on or before March 31, 2010 the credit will be 25% of the $3400 which is 850.00 according to the publication. I also found out that you would need an IRS form 8910 with your tax return but there is no actual form from Ford that will be needed. Perhaps this form applied to the first 60,000 vehicles sold? The form from the IRS which states the credit is IR-2009-42, April 16, 2009. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns. Bill
  9. This is my wish list. 2010 White FFH 1.) homelink 2.) keyless FOB/start button 3.) A FOLD DOWN SEAT ! (I could not get a shovel in the trunk in any way!.) 4.)LED tailights 5.) LED amber in the outside mirrors for turn indicators. 6.)Faster start up on back-up camera. 7.)Faster warm up of CAT Converter for EV ops. 8.)Trunk lock engage/disengage. 9.) get rid of the annoying tick-tick turn signal and make it user selectable. 10.)remove that useless tray on the dash. That's my list
  10. OldSchool posted this regarding his Many problems with his vehicle.. Sorry OLDSCHOOL for all the problems.. Hope they get it all fixed to your satisfaction soon !.. Please keep us posted on new developments.. On one of OldSchools posts he stated "Okay! First thing that happened was the drivers side BLIS light in the mirror turned on and then an error message appeared saying that BLIS unavailable. Sensor blocked. See owners manual." I have noticed this problem on my FFH when driving along a center median. The BLIS will come on and stay on with the warning above for at least ten minutes after you leave the median. I hope isn't a sign of worse things to come..This has been my ONLY issue with my FFH in the first 1,500 miles. The drivers window on the trip down, makes a little knocking noise, which I would like to get resolved as well. Thanks and let me know if this is a common problem that can't be fixed. BH :shift:
  11. I have the NAV pakage and I like the backup camera.. One issue, albeit small, is the aim of the camera shows part of the license plate and the bumper.. Is there any way to revise the aim slightly to being the top of the display just behind the bumber.. I realize that the camera is a real wide angle type and therefore may not be able to be adjusted.. There doesn't appear to be any way to move it.
  12. I am 62 and my hearing is not as good as it used to be.. Maybe that's why older people drive for miles with their turn signals on ??? I, for one, appreciate the little bit of extra clicking they make. My Camry Hybrid was so quiet I couldn't hear them but other people with more acute hearing could.. I have had comments from riders stating "Man you can sure hear the turn signal!'. You know, it seems like with ALL THAT TECHNOLOGY in the FFH, someone could have figured out how to mak a variable tone, variable loudness turn signal kind of like ring tones on a cell phone.. Hey if somebody makes a million bucks off of my idea, please give me a cut!
  13. Thank You so MUCH for the command list !.. It is perfect and I have printed it in a 4 X 6 size and will laminate it for my visor. Great Addition to this forum.
