  1. I took my 2015 FFH in for 90K service a couple of days ago. The service writer told me that the rear brakes were showing signs of wear and I should be looking towards a replacement job. I’m more than surprised as I have pretty high brake “scores” and frequently use manual downshift on hills rather than the brake pedal. Was I being unsold? Does anyone know what’s reasonable mileage before a brake job? Thanks in advance.
  2. My ‘15 had a dragging noise but no popping sound.when I took it in for the steering wheel bolt treatment the noise ended. It’s a quick fix and I suggest you get it done. Hope you’re loving your FFH as much as I do mine.
  3. I just replaced my EnergySavers with Defender T+H primarily because Consumer Reports recommendations. The Energy Savers were original equipment and lasted 45.7K miles, better than any tire Ive had in many years, but less than the suggested 55K. Rotation every 5K was done religiously, which I intend to do with the Defenders. I, too, see much deeper tread depth than the Energy Savers and am hopeful that theyll last longer. Havent driven on them enough to comment yet. Feb 13, 2019 Now have driven nearly 5k on the Defenders and have noticed a drop in MPG beyond what I have seen in previous winters. A long day of driving through rain in VA and N.C. demonstrated that they are very good on wet pavement. The are noisier than the oem Energy Savers.
  4. My ‘15 also has 41k. Those are trouble free and very enjoyable miles. I hope you enjoy yours as much as so many posters here have and find it a fascinating car to have.
  5. An interesting response. I did not know that the engine can not move the car in reverse. Thanks for posting.
  6. Sure to be many reasons, but I’d first check tire pressures all around. If that’s ok, I’d check the throttle body and just clean it up while there. YouTube has many videos on how to do this. Good luck.
  7. Temperature, weather, wind, tire pressure and other factors have significant impact on mpg. I just completed a 1500 mi. trip from NH to FL in varying conditions. Left with temps below freezing, snowing, car loaded and two heavy bikes on back. First tank was 38 mpg. Weather improved and speed went up to 75 and mileage down to 28 on one tank when it was also windy. The bikes were like a huge sail on the back! Now, with temps in the 70s, mpg is back to normal. Give yourself a chance to get used to the differences in this car and youll find yourself enjoying and marveling at what a great car you have. Hope you have many happy years with it.
  8. Time to find another place to get your car serviced. I'd squawk, insisting that they at least replace the oil that they messed up.
  9. I'd be interested in what replaced this FFH and seeing the service records. Seems as though the previous owner took a big hit on depreciation but your friend would be getting a good buy on a terrific car. Your own experience with hybrids should be a good guide. Good luck.
  10. Sorry to see you go. Hope the Niro is satisfying. If not, you know where Home is!
  11. The hybrid powertrain and related components are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles from date of service. If seats are a concern, the passenger seat in addition to the driver's seat is powered in SE models beginning in '15. In earlier years the passenger may complain that they're sitting in a hole. My SE has adaptive cruise control (love it!), lane keeping system (quite good), blind spot monitoring (a life saver), and navigation (ok). The reversing camera is amazing and wouldn't consider a vehicle without it. Really fun to drive. Very, very quiet and smooth riding. 24K since buying new in Dec. '15 and have overall mpg of 44.4. High speed interstate driving will get you 38 or so, careful moderate driving (64-66 mph tops) in mixed driving gets me 48-50 mpg. I'm still learning things about the car. A fascinating rolling computer. BTW, no spare tire. Enjoy your hunt.
  12. Makes sense. After all, this is but a rolling computer! Thanks.
  13. Yes, but only at very slow speed. Tapping them at speeds above 20 mph or so doesn't seem to be troublesome. Coming to a stop at a traffic signal requires awareness. I normally slow to a stop unlike when driving my Saab.
