I took my 2015 FFH in for 90K service a couple of days ago. The service writer told me that the rear brakes were showing signs of wear and I should be looking towards a replacement job. I’m more than surprised as I have pretty high brake “scores” and frequently use manual downshift on hills rather than the brake pedal. Was I being unsold? Does anyone know what’s reasonable mileage before a brake job? Thanks in advance.

Good luck. -
clicking, popping sound from steering wheel or column

My ‘15 had a dragging noise but no popping sound.when I took it in for the steering wheel bolt treatment the noise ended. It’s a quick fix and I suggest you get it done. Hope you’re loving your FFH as much as I do mine. -
I just replaced my EnergySavers with Defender T+H primarily because Consumer Reports recommendations. The Energy Savers were original equipment and lasted 45.7K miles, better than any tire Ive had in many years, but less than the suggested 55K. Rotation every 5K was done religiously, which I intend to do with the Defenders. I, too, see much deeper tread depth than the Energy Savers and am hopeful that theyll last longer. Havent driven on them enough to comment yet. Feb 13, 2019 Now have driven nearly 5k on the Defenders and have noticed a drop in MPG beyond what I have seen in previous winters. A long day of driving through rain in VA and N.C. demonstrated that they are very good on wet pavement. The are noisier than the oem Energy Savers.

Newb-'15 - What noises/sensations are normal?

My ‘15 also has 41k. Those are trouble free and very enjoyable miles. I hope you enjoy yours as much as so many posters here have and find it a fascinating car to have. -

An interesting response. I did not know that the engine can not move the car in reverse. Thanks for posting. -
Sure to be many reasons, but I’d first check tire pressures all around. If that’s ok, I’d check the throttle body and just clean it up while there. YouTube has many videos on how to do this. Good luck.

What is going on with my Fusion's gas mileage?
Larry Twitchell replied to iamluke33's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Temperature, weather, wind, tire pressure and other factors have significant impact on mpg. I just completed a 1500 mi. trip from NH to FL in varying conditions. Left with temps below freezing, snowing, car loaded and two heavy bikes on back. First tank was 38 mpg. Weather improved and speed went up to 75 and mileage down to 28 on one tank when it was also windy. The bikes were like a huge sail on the back! Now, with temps in the 70s, mpg is back to normal. Give yourself a chance to get used to the differences in this car and youll find yourself enjoying and marveling at what a great car you have. Hope you have many happy years with it. -
Leaking front axel seal replaced on mine at 43k

Time to find another place to get your car serviced. I'd squawk, insisting that they at least replace the oil that they messed up. -
Does this 2016 Fusion Hybrid look like a good deal?
Larry Twitchell replied to VonoreTn's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
I'd be interested in what replaced this FFH and seeing the service records. Seems as though the previous owner took a big hit on depreciation but your friend would be getting a good buy on a terrific car. Your own experience with hybrids should be a good guide. Good luck. -

Sorry to see you go. Hope the Niro is satisfying. If not, you know where Home is! -
Input Needed - Fusion 2016 Hybrid
Larry Twitchell replied to RxFiller1963's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
The hybrid powertrain and related components are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles from date of service. If seats are a concern, the passenger seat in addition to the driver's seat is powered in SE models beginning in '15. In earlier years the passenger may complain that they're sitting in a hole. My SE has adaptive cruise control (love it!), lane keeping system (quite good), blind spot monitoring (a life saver), and navigation (ok). The reversing camera is amazing and wouldn't consider a vehicle without it. Really fun to drive. Very, very quiet and smooth riding. 24K since buying new in Dec. '15 and have overall mpg of 44.4. High speed interstate driving will get you 38 or so, careful moderate driving (64-66 mph tops) in mixed driving gets me 48-50 mpg. I'm still learning things about the car. A fascinating rolling computer. BTW, no spare tire. Enjoy your hunt. -
Makes sense. After all, this is but a rolling computer! Thanks.
-
Thanks. I'll try that.
-
Yes, but only at very slow speed. Tapping them at speeds above 20 mph or so doesn't seem to be troublesome. Coming to a stop at a traffic signal requires awareness. I normally slow to a stop unlike when driving my Saab.
-
Thanks for your response. Your brakes are what I want. Next time I'm in for service I'll have them take a look.
-
I know that the FFH brakes are sensitive, but are they even more so when the weather is damp? It seems to me that the brakes are extremely sensitive in damp weather, especially at low speeds, I.e., reversing, parking lots, etc.

FFH SE steering wheel control
Larry Twitchell replied to johnnyp12's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Using the right pad, push the left arrow. This should show all four options available to you (nav, audio, phone, climate). The arrow up or down allows you to scroll. The Left arrow takes you deeper into the options. It's simple (?) but takes some time to apply if, like me, you're over 65. -
Your #3 was a deal breaker for us on a used '14. I had about given up as a fully adjustable power passenger seat was a must have for us when I discovered it was available on '15 SE's. A couple of months later we bought one and couldn't be happier. What delightful car.

Rode in the passenger seat today and the seat functions in all directions now. Maybe our touch was too gentle? Thanks to each of you for responding What a great car. After nearly a year, it's still so much fun to drive and enjoy.

Fusion Hybrid 2016 - 0W-20, 5W-20... Does it matter?
Larry Twitchell replied to Luron's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
I appreciate your concern and it would likely bother me,too. Just keep an eye on it as the weather will be colder for the months before your next change. I doubt that any negative effects will be noticed. Keep on enjoying your FFH, -
If you're parking outdoors, there may be a number of things that could be getting into the drains. Debris from evergreen trees, live oak, etc. come to mind.
-
Thanks for the response. I'll be interested in what you find out about your ability to adjust your seats.
-
Power seats in my 2015 SE will not adjust unless the vehicle is stopped, even the passenger seat! Among the reasons for buying this car was the 6-way power passenger seat as my wife has physical problems which are helped by re-adjusting her seat frequently. By stretching my imagination I can understand why the driver's seat might not adjust while underway, but by no stretch can I understand applying the rule to the passenger. I hope Ford will reconsider and fix this excessive control.

Hang in there and don't let them off the hook.
