  1. The buttons on my 2015 S are different looking than what mwr posted above but mine have never beeped either.
  2. Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for and the first time I have seen CR reliability data specifically for the C-Max/Fusion eCVT. You are correct that the 2013 and the 2014 are not as good as the 2015. However, this data (reported by owners via the CR annual reliability survey) still earned a "Very Good" (single green up arrow) rating for transmission minor and major on the 2013 and 2014. The 2015+ model years earned a rating of "Excellent" (double green up arrow) for transmission minor and major. This CR data appears to confirm what Waldo told us in post #5 (see above). The number of failures is a very small percentage and that the reliability of all years of this eCVT is way better than average. Waldo is also right that forums such as this can give the wrong impression given the irrational emotion/drama that has been repeated so many times. I don't mean to be dismissive to the owners that have a FFH e-CVT that failed. It is a pain when it happens. Fortunately, it's a very small percentage and the overwhelming majority of those were replaced via the 8/100,000 warranty on the hybrid components. So far, my FFH is the best car I have ever owned. Hope it continues.
  3. Yes! It would not be possible because of the road rage that would result, but it would be fascinating to do a long road trip (like yours) at a max speed of 45 MPH and see what MPGs would result.
  4. Was it cold with your HVAC heater on? Going through a drive through with your window down could cool your interior down fast requiring the ICE to start to generate cabin heat. Just a thought...
  5. Thanks very much for posting. That is the most detailed information I have seen on the actual cause of the transmission failure (transfer shaft gear assembly bearing). Nice to see that Ford offered a customer satisfaction program to repair the 2013 and 2014 transmissions with the problem regardless of mileage. To bad it expired in 2016. Given that it has been extended to some of the 2015s and 2016s it makes one wonder if they really have a fix for the problem other than replacing the failing parts (or entire transmission)? If you have the Consumer Reports magazine data you mentioned, could you please post it?
  6. It is an amazing car. I am driving around in Florida right now (all city streets and 45 MPH parkways) and after ~375 miles my Trip1 readout shows 55.8 MPG. The FFH loves flat roads and warm temperatures.
  7. Waldo, can you share anything about the failure rate of the conventional ICE fusion transmissions as compared to the FFH? I'm curious if it is significantly different/better?
  8. Automate, can you post the CR data you are referencing? I subscribe to CR (print edition only) but I have not been able to find transmission reliability data broken out separately for the FFH.
  9. Yes, you have repeated this irrational drama countless times on this forum. Pleaseeeeeze, just provide a link to any one of your numerous duplicate rants instead of droning on and on with even more duplicate posts. Several months ago I suggested one for your duplicate posts as a good candidate because it was a rarity in that it was surprisingly free of your irrational drama (e.g. “sword of Damocles”). Give your Aisin transmission a big hug, tuck it in at night, be happy and sleep peacefully with the knowledge that you don't own a second generation FFH.
  10. Thank you, Waldo. I have been wondering for a long time what the actual failure rate is on our transmissions. I am less worried now about the “sword of Damocles” we have been told is hanging over all of our heads.
  11. I suspect the owner's manual instructions may be a carry over for an older version of the fob and it did not get updated. You are right, the "clip" verbiage makes no sense.
  12. I changed mine a few months ago. With the key blade extended look down into the slot where the key blade folds into. You will see a little slot (kind of hard to see) that you can put a small screw driver in and pry off the back cover (the side with the Ford logo). Be gentle with a slight pry/twist motion with the screw driver blade and it will pop loose.
  13. Unfortunately, you are highly outnumbered. Trucks and SUVs are in high demand and generate huge profits for automakers.
  14. Cobra might be like me and enjoy the research and investigation process. I have been researching my next pickup for the last four years.
  15. I think the majority of transmission failures occurred while the hybrid components were still under warranty. Only a small handful failed outside of the warranty. Not aware of anyone that has done it themselves.
  16. Looks like the color is a little off but it looks much better than before. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up.
  17. Drafting, as you practice it, certainly is illegal in Georgia but you won't find it by googling for "drafting" or your "extended drafting" term. https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2010/title-40/chapter-6/article-3/40-6-49/ Most (maybe all) states have similar "Following too closely" laws.
  18. Nice job of completely avoiding the question. You know my question had nothing to do with the cause of your transmission failure. I asked why did you remove your grill covers prior to bringing your CMAX into the service department for the transmission issue? This seems like an odd and inconsistent thing to do given your statement:
  19. Come on, PT, don't go silent again on this question. Tell us why you removed your grill covers just before taking your CMAX in for the failing transmission warranty repair. I'm thinking maybe you have forgotten what you told us. Here is the relevant link: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/10178-thoughts-on-ecvt-temperatures/?p=97623 If you don't want to follow the link here it is:
  20. There was a recent post about disconnecting the 12 volt battery (i.e. a reset) and how it fixed a problem that I think was related to climate control. Have you tried that? Here is the post: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/12026-heat-not-working-only-works-on-hi-setting/?p=106711
  21. Please stop quoting posts and then editing within it. The edits you add to the quote are what you said not the original poster. Please respond below the quote. I asked you this question in the past and you did not respond, I'll ask it again. Why did you remove all your grill covers just before taking your CMAX in to be diagnosed for its failing transmission? I'll bet you also removed the angle iron you bolted to the bottom of the transmission. Any possibility it was because the owner's manual clearly states that modifications may void your warranty? Makes it difficult for the mod to cause a warranty problem when it is removed before the service appointment. Billford already showed that you do advocate illegal activity: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/11745-how-to-drive-a-ford-fusion-hybrid-to-get-great-gas-mileage/?p=108697 Drafting is also illegal but nearly impossible to enforce. And in this post you make it clear that since you can violate the law safely it is okay: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/11745-how-to-drive-a-ford-fusion-hybrid-to-get-great-gas-mileage/?p=108694
  22. No, you are being challenged by multiple members on this forum for advocating illegal activity and having no regard for the safety of others. This is speculation on my part, but I think most people on this forum are here to learn more about their FFH and how to drive it as economically as possible. For clear thinking people that means safely maximizing miles/dollar, not maximizing MPG regardless of cost,. Many (maybe most) members on this forum likely outperform you in that regard because they don't fuel up with premium gasoline, add worthless additives to their fuel tank or spend money on dubious modifications to their cars that can void their factory warranty. Very few here are motivated by the OCD hypermiling game that completely consumes you.
  23. Much of what you post is either illegal or dangerous. Not good. Should you follow your own advice?
  24. No, what Waldo says makes perfect sense and the key to what he said is "when it is on". This behavior is why hybrids can produce exceptional fuel efficiency.
  25. Common sense, facts, input from automotive engineers, traffic laws and the safety of other motorists mean nothing to a charlatan. He will continue to peddle snake oil and believe what he wants to believe. Nothing is going to change that.
