  1. Like you, I got my FFH repaired under the TSB and it's starting to smell again. It's an in your face smell, not just a mild odor. I'm working with my dealer to get it resolved. I took it back in just before the BTB warranty ended. Someone on here will say they all smell, my wife's 2010 Prius with 55,000 miles has no odor. My 2010 FFH with 65,000 miles, had no odor. Owned a 1985 Mazda for 10 years and 120,000 miles, no odor. I guess some do and some don't. I've never experienced it with my cars. I'm pissed!
  2. If you haven't run a VHR recently, do it. After I updated to 3.8 I ran a VHR and the updated version showed up on the Sync page. Click on, Full SYNC History to the right.
  3. Actually, the ANC has every thing to do with the speakers. Copied from a Ford document. Active Noise Control What It Is • A feature of the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine that helps reduce, or cancel, low frequency noise produced by the engine due to vibration at low rpms (1000-1500 rpm), such as when at idle or in gear How It Works • Microphones in the vehicle interior headliner detect and measure the amplitude and phase of the engine noise sound waves • This information is relayed to the active noise cancellation module • The module takes into account engine speed to calculate the target frequency that needs to be cancelled, targeting only unwanted engine noise and not other noise inside the cabin such as the audio system or passenger conversations • The module then uses this information to generate a sound wave that has the same amplitude as the engine noise but reverses it • The reversed sound wave is directed through the audio system speakers and combines with the original engine sound wave to cancel each other out Key Benefit • Reduced interior engine noise resulting in a quiet cabin
  4. Two weeks short of 3 year ownership, 30,500 miles, I had the LVB replaced under warranty for the 3rd time. Took delivery on 12/12/12, the first LVB was replaced on 4/24/13, the second on 10/7/14 and the third today, 11/30/15. Four LVBs in three years. The same conditions occurred, the BS message started to come up on the MFT screen after almost every ignition off. This was even after a 60 minute trip. All were tested at the dealer and all failed. The first was a consensus that long storage in unfavorable conditions at Hermosillo might have been the culprit. The next three probably due to a wrong engineering selection of the type of battery used, just my thoughts on that one. I live in Southern California, so weather conditions are generally mild and cause no adverse effects. My 2010 FFH and three years of ownership, 65,000 miles, I never replaced the battery, then again it had a full size LVB under the hood.
  5. Unless you can access a body lifting jack as used by tire shops, the only way is to lift the car by it's jack points. I bought a used jack from eBay very cheaply. Many Ford jacks are interchangeable. I also bought a doughnut tire and a wheel from eBay.
  6. We can all be great arm chair mechanics, but without being present to hear or feel the vibration, anything said would be pure speculation. I think it's time to take it to your local Ford dealer to get it checked out.
  7. My initials are G. K. and I live in Los Angeles, hence gkinla.
  8. I look at the clearance problem this way. We all love the look of the front end of the 2013-2016 Fusion, unless, of course you don't. It was designed with the low to the ground design for air flow efficiency. The lower Valance on both sides on my car are torn up pretty badly. See pictures. I think the these Lower Valances were designed to be expendable, as they are lower to the ground than the rest of the bumper cover, they will hit first and take up most of the damage. If the damage gets bad enough, they can be bought separately and painted to match, not cheap, $47.95 ea with a deep discount but not as expensive as replacing and painting the complete bumper cover, especially if you have sensors. And where they are, visually out of the way, you can paint them yourself and it wouldn't be that noticeable. BTW, I really try to not scrape as much as possible. What happened to the LH Valance is I went over a parking lot bumper and when pulling back, the Valance got caught. It pulled away and I snapped it back in place, I'm not even worried about the torn out bolt hole. It's been this way for 8 months and not affecting anything. Maybe out there, someone could design and sell aftermarket titanium scuff plates. LOL For a comparison, I've included a picture of my Fusion along side an Aston-Martin. Talk about low to the ground! I didn't measure the difference between the wheel CL and the bumper front on the Aston-Martin. It just might be shorter and not an issue. LH side RH side
  9. I copied this from the MyFordSync page. Looks like it's only available with MFT. Now iPhone users can use Siri® Eyes Free with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®. With simple voice commands, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® enables you to operate the iPhone and SYNC® together. Siri® Eyes Free can be activated by pressing and holding the voice button for at least 3 seconds.
  10. Update: The latest 3.8 allows Siri to become active with a long 3 second push of the voice button. The iPhone doesn't have to be plugged in, it uses Bluetooth. I use texting all the time, and use text to voice to listen, it allows me to respond to text immediately. Push the voice button for 3 seconds until you hear the beep. I'll say, Siri send a text message to, whomever, Siri asks what do you want to say, dictate it then pause. Siri will repeat what you just said to confirm, then will ask to send, say yes, then Siri will say, sending. A great time saver while on the road.
  11. Here is another altitude app that I like, called, My Altitude. It gives a lot of data and it uses the iPhone, baro pressure sensor. It was free but I din't know about now. And no, I was nowhere near home when I took the screen shot.
  12. Update; Just went on line to SyncMyRide and guess what, It now shows SYNC is up to date, with the latest, greatest, SYNC 3.8. It showed 3.6.2 this morning when I was at the dealer. It hadn't budged since Feb. 2014 with 3.6.2. I also ran a VHR before I went on line to check. I didn't check before running VHR, so I don't know if VHR updates the latest SYNC record. So, this tells me that the IraF link works correctly.
  13. The Forum strikes again. :happy feet: 3.8 SYNC done. Thanks IraF for the link. Back story, I had some warranty cosmetic work done at the dealer today. I spoke to the SA about the 3.8 Sync being available and asked the SA to have the 3.8 installed, as it wasn't available on MFT SYNC. The first response, almost cross eyed, no way. I called the service manager over, we go back a long way, to discuss installing the 3.8. The SM told the SA to have the tech check it out. A hour later I was told it can't be done as the my VIN wasn't in the computer to install the 3.8. The SA said to wait, it will show up eventually on your MFT SYNC page. Well I couldn't wait for Ford's, eventually. So I clicked on the link in thread #14 above. Thanks again, IraF. The SYNC went flawlessly, the only thing, you have to re-pair your phone, and with the iPhone you have to go into the bluetooth section to turn on the Show Notifications to listen to texts. Also, you need to add back any wallpaper that you had installed before.

Almost 3 years into ownership and I achieved my first 40+ MPG tank full. Little victories count!
  15. I just completed a short FWY drive and I was wrong about no increase in ICE RPM. At 65 mph the ICE is ususally around 2k rpm with no load. When I dropped the eCVT in L the rpm jumped to 4k. The other times I shifted into L, I was decelerating coming up to a stop light and going very slow. When crusing on a city street at 35, on battery, shifting to L without lifting off the gas, the ICE comes on to 4k rpm. When lifting off the gas, this does slow the car down much faster using both regen and ICE braking. This is what I've experienced, others may experience it differently.
  16. Murphy, now that you've explained it so eloquently, I won't be afraid to put the trans into low as the OM says you can at any speed. I may try the one pedal driving accasionally. I have had the tac on in the LH display and tried shifting into L, without any increase in RPM. This would be good in slow Los Angeles FWY traffic.
  17. GrlSql, Although the 530's are installed, you can usually tell the hotter plug by the length of the ceramic center electrode insulator. The longer, the hotter the plug operates. I'm reasonably sure the difference is the heat range. The lower number is probobly the hotter operating plug. IMHO
  18. I've been doing tire rotations every 5,000 miles for many years. It's only $20. Tire rotation is included in the 10,000 mile inspection.
  19. It was Mike our SM that told me the bad news. Yes the dealer made it right. I've had such good luck with the dealer stepping up to handle whatever the problem is. And other things like turning on the DRL's without question or charging us to do it.
  20. I've had several letters fall off the Fusion emblem and the dealer replaced them without question. The last time the dealer created a major problem. The tech assigned to replace the lost letter took part of the Ruby Red paint off the trunk lid under the Fusion emblem. Evidently when the letter came off some of the paint came with it. This section of the trunk lid is black plastic. The techs use a mechanical rotary eraser to remove the black 3M adhesive to get down to the paint before sticking a letter back on. Not knowing or checking, the tech started to what he thought was removing the black 3M adhesive. It didn't come off, so he kept trying. The end result was a 1/2 by 1 inch, or larger, patch of paint being removed down to the black plastic. So this usually one hour event turned out to be a 3 day affair. I was sitting in the lounge when the service manager came over to me with this look of dread on his face. I thought, oh crap somethin big had happened in the service bay, and then he told me of the problem. The dealer kept the car for three days while the trunk lid was repainted. I mention this because if someone tries this at home watch out and make sure that the paint hasn't lifted. The black 3M you think is left, just may be the black plastic showing. The dealer did give me a loaner for the time it took to repaint the trunk lid.

This is a return trip from Beaumont, CA to LAX. Temp 75 deg F, AC on, ACC set to 65mph. 10 FWY to the 605 to the 105, then 405 and home. ACC was the main controller on this trip, the ACC only dropped out twice during slow traffic. I didn't use the brakes at all except when the ACC dropped out, and FWY transition ramps. I just let the ACC do it's job.
  22. It's the straight on taking of the picture which makes it look like it's going straight up. It's a 6.1% grade or 3.51 degrees. Or 1 foot rise in 16.39 foot horizontal travel. The steepest hill in San Francisco is 31.5%. 65 ft rise, 206.25 horizontal travel,or 17.5 degrees.
