My mileage has started to decrease during onset of winter.
I was shocked that my total fuely mpg is now slightly below 40mpg!!!

My FFH irritant is the center console. I had several years with the center console of my 2005 Subaru Legacy (with Japan market add-on) providing a top shallow compartment (keys, small camera, pen, etc) and a much deeper lower compartment for everything else. The top compartment swung out of the way to access the lower compartment. Fast forward to my 2015 FFH and I have one deep compartment only, partially blocked by the semi-worthless small tray that holds very little. All in all, a limited-thinking design in a car that has much great-thinking design.
That useless little tray is the change holder!
It is poorly designed and awkward to get to and one of MY pet peeves!
My other pet peeve is the forward air dam, it is just low enough to hit most of the parking curbs i pull up to just enough to scrape the bottom :(

Down here in Texas, i use the global window open often to cool out my car before getting in!
Did not know about the battery warning, will be on the lookout now! This forum is a great information source :)

That check from Ford will buy a lot of gas though!

My mpg was climbing to 42mpg since last August when I got my car, but this summer I dived below 40mpg avg sadly. I live near many 70mph roads even though in city, so think that's the problem along with AC use.

Thanks guys, I'm glad some of my ramblings are useful (or at least interesting). I didn't see copies of the full order guides or sourcebook anywhere so I'll find a good looking forum for those and upload them. I might even answer the DRL mystery for 13 & 14 models if anybody is curious :)What IS a DRL?
Anything to do with why my mpg declined this summer?

Well, I purposely bought a no option car to save cash. But I'm used to new tech being mandated in the Airline industry. It's usually resisted but eventually proves a valuable tool to add. Will it always detect, no. But I bet it will save a lot of lives in the long run.
As for mirror adjustment, I angle them a little further out, to see the closer threat. The guy further back will just have to observe my Turn signal and lane change if I don't see him. The closer guy has less chance to react to your lane change AND it's his lane!

Wow! I left. Houston 22 yrs ago and had completely forgotten the existence of love bugs, what a mess they are
-
No issues, love the car.

This was posted elsewhere, don't remember who, but set your A/C temp to 73 or higher and you will see some improvement in summer mpg.
Remember before getting in to your hot car that holding down the unlock door button on your remote will lower ALL your windows prior to getting in and let that hot air out!
Good luck!

Thanks everyone.
My car does do EV at higher mph's, but when the main battery is depleted and in hybrid mode only I cannot get the EV to power the vehicle above 60ish, especially with cruise, ACC on. My former car, Kia Optima Hybrid would go EV at highway speeds every 5-7 minutes for about 30 seconds and the ICE would shut off, I have not experienced that at all in my Energi.
It never occurred to me but, the software is different and probably is not shared with other manufacturers? In other words an industrial secret!

Same here! Definitely would LOVE a larger tank to go the same amount of miles per week as the 2010, but overall very pleased with the car.How wonderful just two more gallons would be!
I am still amazed how much the trunk holds, those fold down seats with trunk access, was the deal maker for me

Honestly, Consumer Reports is not all that and a bag of chips sometimes. To rate a car poorly for what is basically a communications device defies logic to me.
Practically every other reviewer except CR likes this car a lot, and highly recommends it.
Honey Badger don't care what they say!
CR always analyzes funny, they are tech nerds. They focus on details, some really matter, some don't.
Car and Driver is a better source of info from CAR nerds! (But i wouldn't take their advice when buying a toaster or blender.)
Car and Driver does good video reviews by real car enthusiasts and They like the FFH.

What does any of the above have to do with storage locations in the vehicle?
Eggzachery!
"Too bad that folks feel the need to have to carry a gun period, regardless of where."
Too bad we cant stop crime from happening by posting "no crime zone" signs....... :shift:

I've used this in the past but with the map pocket in the driver's side door, I just use the concealment cover and holster and put it in that. Even if it slides forward, you'll be ok in Texas because of the cover.
Great idea!

My wife's Titanium has the fabric on the shelf and things stay put... my SE has Cheap-Charlie plastic and things fall off.
The shelf just pulls out, right? So you should be able to buy the Titanium shelf and pop it in!

Here you go, problem solved http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-fusion-cupcoin-holder-p-1250.html As long as you don't need your coins neatly separated and only use 1 cup holder. :spend:
Thanks, I need both my cup holders since they are scarce on this car (just enough usually). I guess I will fiddle with my coin tray and mod it to fit in front of armrest compartment where I can see contents.

Deliberate running out of gas in a Cmax is probably not as serious as in a hybrid, I would never do it on purpose in any vehicle.
What bugs me is not being able to get my 600 mile badge even if I ran gas and battery dry!
-
I think a better design would be full length, so it is more stable, and with coin holders by size (quarters, nickels, dimes, pennies).
How expensive could that have been?
-
Mine always seems to get knocked loose and fall in to the console as well. It just seems to be an awkward design in my opinion.
Like I said, I love my Fusion and am reduced to trying to solve an accessory tray problem because the rest is designed so WELL!
I can't see in the tray at the back, so wish it would fit in the front of the arm rest! The design prevents this though.

.
Ford's are designed to have 1/16th of a tank left when it says 0 miles to empty. Given the 13.5 gallon tank, that means you have about 1.2 gallons left at zero miles to empty. No need for any experiments.
1/16 of 13.5 is 0.84.
-
1/16 of 13.5 is 0.84.
Well I get the "low fuel" warning at 40 miles to empty and have two gallons left when I fill there.
So at "0 miles to empty" I should have 1 gallon left which is between your two calculations!
-
A driver side impact by another car might make that a less than optimum storage place.
Well a hit on that side will probably take you out of action anyway?
First complete fillup soon. Safe to go to "0 mi to E"?

The car has a 13.5 gallon tank. Everytime i fill it near 0 miles remaining, I only put in 11 gallons or less!
My avg mpg is 40.2 therefore i could drive another 80 miles if an emergency.
But I do choose to leave those extra miles to an emergency.
SO if you know how much gas you are putting in when you 'fill up' you should have a good idea how far you can drive....
