I read from Ford they will drop all cars except Fusion and also keep Trucks and SUVs.
I suspect they keep only the most fuel efficient Hybrid to improve fleet mpg.
Have they made any recent changes to the base Fusion Hybrid in last 5 yrs?

I waited until the new Steering wheel bolt recall was completed to see if that was the problem and afraid not!
I thought it was outside in left wheel well, but my wife's superior hearing located the noise inside at the steering wheel itself.
My steering wheel started to squeak when turning right from a standing start about 2 months ago. I asked dealer to check it out then while in for other work and they CND (could not duplicate).
I just had the steering wheel bolt RECALL done hoping that was the cause of the mystery squeak, no dice! It is now squeaking more than ever and when I turn either direction!
Was going to WD40 that steering column but there is a big rubber boot over it.
Anyone know how to remove that rubber boot?

I use the AC here in Texas except for 1-2 months in winter, I a pretty happy with my 39.6 avg mpg. My wife's Merc C250 gets 29 and that ain't bad....

No news on this forum? I am interested in upgrading my FFH 2014 to Synch 3, since the $2000 cost is what I would pay in sales tax to buy a newer vehicle.
-
I get the smell of coffee under those circumstances (different nose), but never led to any problems... that I know of with 41,000 miles on mine, a 2014.
-
I thought about a new one till I found out they no longer available in 'Ice storm' blue.
-
You will not know the other modules software levels (except for sync) unless you attempt to reprogram them with a dealer tool. Modules get updated all the time to fix software glitches
If everything is working ok, just leave it. They won't get erased by disconnecting a battery.
But everything is not working OK, I have started to get very low MPG
-
OK my Ford synch provided an update to the Sync and radio ONLY. As it turns out the date on my car display HAS always been wrong, lol. I thought it was a software update date when you turned the car on as it never was set! The clock button only takes you to a clock setting and does not give the option to set the date :(
So i hunted through the many many menus and set it after 3 years!
Now I am disappointed that nowhere does the car inform you of the program running the engine fuel EPROM.
But thanks so much for the help as I do for the first time have an up to date Ford Sync program since buying the car.
-
My mileage is not 36000+, that is a picture from my first 500 mile tank of gas.
Your saying that the date flashing on my radio screen upon start up is NOT anything to do with the vehicle software?
If so, where do I find the vehicle software version installed on my car?

Help!
I had a dead 12 volt battery and took it to Ford dealer for new one. Since then my gas mileage has gone way down!
Today I got my oil changed (at Valvoline) and the mechanic said that he noticed the date on my radio display shows the year 2000, and I was pretty sure it used to always pop up with a date ending in 2013 (I have a 2014).
could the dealer disconnecting my 12volt battery have dumped the updated programming in my car?
What should the current program show for a date on startup?
Thanks!

I cant get over 38.2 mpg, if fact it has been 38.2 now for over a month no matter how I baby it. 42psi in tires, new air filter, full synthetic, when I get done with my drive it usually tells me I got mid 50's and a braking score from 96-98% efficient with no air on I cant figure it out. 38.2 ain't bad but I can usually get that on the highway without trying so after this last update it has me wondering. PS it's not the brakes stopping you it's the friction and grip of tire and 50 psi in a tire is not safe, wait for the hard stop on a cold rainy day you won't feel so smart.
I had a mileage drop from 41 to 37 this summer and by raising my AC cabin temp from 72F up to 74F I have reastablished 42 mpg!
I drive a lot of short trips and am told the ICE may not be able to warm up to optimum operating temperature on short trips.
-
My Fusion SE hybrid is a 2014 and just this year the MPG dropped to the 36-38 mpg range! I never got more than 42 on average from new though.
Could it be the plugs?
-
Sorry to hear about the deer.
Don't feel bad, I hit a racoon with the left front fender lower air dam on my BMW 325 once. It was summer and the cars temp probe was in that fender dam and broke. The probe now read 0* C as the outside air temp and my AC would not work!!! It was a long week till I got that in the shop :)
-
Thank goodness the hood release is by manual cable. I attached a battery charger and it instantly started the ICE. I drove around and the 12v battery was still working today (the next morning). So should I replace the 12volt battery in the trunk?
-
I dont have enought battery juice to open the trunk! How do i charge the small battery?

Between the seat consoles change tray is worthless, keeps falling into bin and dumping the change.
Had a flat when I hit a pothole with the low profile tires, too much damage for an inflator to repair it. I was not aware I didn't have even a donut spare! While waiting on a tow truck I called my Ford dealer and learned that a donut tire and new tray too hold the spare and the jack would all run about $500 if I installed it myself. So I just bought a new pair of tires instead for less. Inflation kit is expensive too!

Power seats in my 2015 SE will not adjust unless the vehicle is stopped, even the passenger seat! Among the reasons for buying this car was the 6-way power passenger seat as my wife has physical problems which are helped by re-adjusting her seat frequently. By stretching my imagination I can understand why the driver's seat might not adjust while underway, but by no stretch can I understand applying the rule to the passenger. I hope Ford will reconsider and fix this excessive control.
My 2013 Fusion SE has only driver power seat and it DOES adjust while driving, done so many times while on a long drive.

anyone know if the lincoln model has a compatible center console improvement for the 'change tray' which is always falling into the main bin?

Great Info guys!
I am in my dealers wait room for a recall module update. Anyone tell me what that is for in layman's terms?

Hi, I made a post about my 'Steering Wheel Rot" which has gotten some response on the Forum.
Someone suggested you might steer me in the right direction about warranty coverage or ideas.......
I have the soft foam wheel, and the foam started to develop wholes on the bottom of the wheel grip last year and they have spread! The first one I thought i might have nicked with my car keys, but now with the appearance of 3 more, I know i did not cause this decaying effect.
Any ideas, bought FFH in August 13.
-
Is the "divot" an actual sunken spot in the steering wheel or is it a spot that feels softer that the surrounding area? Can you post a picture taken from behind the steering wheel?
They are like holes in the wheel grip, it appears to be densley packed foam grip, not the leather wheel cover. They are in close proximity but NOT connected.
I did suspect maybe i caused the first one with maybe my key catching on it; but now I know it is something else as it is in multiple places.
-
Hi, I dont know if my steering wheel on my SE is standard before this model year so posting this here.
My steering wheel is like a dense foam and has a good feel, but i noticed about a year ago one divot in the underside towards the floor or 6 o'clock position.
This month i noticed that i have more than one divot, it is spreading to about four total places on the underside! It is not a growth from the original divot.
It appears that the wheel is rotting on the underside in multiple places!
Anyone else have this?
Would this be a warranty item?
Thanks

My '04 Buick Century had the same low-hanging air dam underneath, and between that car and my FFH, they have trained me to not pull all the way up to the curbs. Fortunately, the lines on the parking spots are long enough that my FFH does not jut out past those lines even if I don't pull all the way into the parking spot.
I am a 'all in' kinda guy. I need a front curb feeler to stop earlier. Anybody ever seen one?

It made me sad to part with my five year old Fusion SE. It had just under 50,000 miles and I felt almost the perfect car getting me avg 40 mpg.
But when my dad gave me his mustang and I drove it exclusively for a month, my left knee problem went away! Get back in my Fusion, knee ache returned! I do not get an ache driving my wifes Mercedes and not in my new (2017 used) Audi. So investigating my leg position in the Fusion I found that the left foot rest was closer to me than the brake pedal this caused an awkward foot position that took over four years to develop into a constant knee ache for me!
So my knee is now fine, I think the Fusion is a great car but if you have a left knee problem experiment for yourself
