Sync 3 to get Android Auto/Apple Carplay
LASooner replied to Bryan Burch's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I bought the upgrade from 4DTECH. Because I commute in LA, and really wanted Android Auto, it was pricey, but worth it to me. Super easy to install, just follow the video. The only thing that doesn't work right is parallel park assist but they warned me of this ahead of time. Other than that no major issues. The only other issue I had was related to Android Auto, the Google Pixel and the USB3 cable length, once I switched to a really short cable, I haven't had any issues. As a side note, upgrading to Sync 3 fixed the bug where the ambient lighting color would revert back to the default color. -
"killing off several sedans, including the Fusion"
LASooner replied to mwr's topic in News & Reviews
If the Fusion sells so bad, why do I see them everywhere? -
I've been using My Link in a Camaro rental and it is terrible. The Bluetooth is really spotty, and the buttons are a mess and small targets to hit. Driving this thing makes me appreciate my Fusion so much more.

My car says 37.8 fuelly says 36.7 I don't who to believe, I'm resigned that my commute and the terrain will never get out of that high 30's zone.

Yeah, it's the new Taurus. New Fusion to look exactly like the current Fusions externally. -
Ford dumps MyFord Touch name in revamp of infotainment system
LASooner replied to darrelld's topic in News & Reviews
It would be nice if I can just replace the whole unit with this one, but they'll probably make it so it won't interface with 2013/2014 fusions. Seeing the Pandora app on screen pissed me off. I wonder if it will support Google Auto as well? -
I like them a lot, no noticeable mpg loss, a little more stiff, but corners better. I have no regrets on these.

13 bags of 2cuft mulch, before I loaded it in, the lady at Lowes looked at my car and said, "really?", when I was done she said, "I'll be damned"

At least I know it's not one of you guys

never trust a man who can't be bothered to spring for the Titanium trim. :) -

I can see both sides of the argument, the answer is that it's just programming, and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to choose this behavior or at the very least define what the default input is. Because I live in an area with lots of hills, and when it switches to radio it scares the crap out of me, because it's usually static and usually loud.

Is Applink ever coming to MyFord Touch?
LASooner replied to Bryan Burch's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I'd go with probably not coming anytime soon, because if you do a search on this subject you will find posts dating back to 2011 on various forums. And a stifling lack of any real comment from Ford every time. And now the discussion is Ford moving to QNX, it's really hard to say how much development is going on with the MFT system now or in the future. Until you either buy a new car or someone comes up with an aftermarket solution for the 2013+ Fusions, we're basically SOL for the foreseeable future. -
Consumer Reports response on My Ford Touch
LASooner replied to vangonebuy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
My problem with MFT has always been that it's a less capable system that costs more money than the standard Sync system that has Applink. Before the update it rebooted on me 3 times, since the update it hasn't rebooted once. But I haven't felt pushed to replace it. As long as it works with whatever phone I have, it does what I need it to do. That said, if anyone came out with a turnkey head unit with mirrorcast I might be enticed to change. -
Making the Hybrid sound like a sports car engine
LASooner replied to C0recollector's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I want mine to sound like the Jetsons car -
Mine was installed today under warranty. I asked about how he did it and he said that it was cleared through their Ford rep before he even ordered it. It's subtle difference, but most noticeable to me at higher RPM, as it is a much lower, softer tone than it was previously.
-
Wouldn't Ford want people to think their Hybrids were quiet inside and out? I would like to state again, my service advisor pushed to get this fix under warranty. I just wanted the part. He said it was the same part number so it was a revision and therefore covered under warranty. I never complained about the engine noise, I just asked to order the part, he asked why, and here we are. Just because it isn't a safety fix, doesn't mean it shouldn't be changed.

Just some anecdotal info. One old tire with rim weighed 54.1lbs, new tire weighs 55.4lbs Just in the few days I've been driving on them, no noticeable difference in MPG. will continue to track. The Contipro tires feel smoother on the road than the Goodyears, but the ride is more stiff. And they already got their first ding when someone on the freeway hit a piece of semi truck tread and it hit my driver side wheels leaving a couple small scratches on the edge. This is why we can't have nice things. Ford should offer these on the hybrids with a disclaimer that it could affect MPG

The guys at the dealership were freaking out over the black chrome. I told them they should offer it as an option. I was surprised the ride wasn't as rough as I was expecting.
