  1. I've been off work for a couple of weeks and, yes, we have a sprinkler system that usually runs while I'm at work, and it's hit my car a few times. The water here is very hard and water spots are a big problem. Took it to the car wash today and apparently it's been too long because they didn't come off (usually if I take it within a day or two it's not a problem). So what is the best way to get rid of these? I've read that vinegar or a paste of vinegar and baking soda will work, but I'm sort of afraid to do that. Any thoughts?
  2. Out here it's pretty much impossible to get away with not running the A/C. In fact, for a good portion of the year I have to run heat in the morning and A/C in the afternoon. Yesterday it got up to 108* here. I know it's all a drain on MPG but there's not much I can do about it!
  3. And, here it is, since you couldn't find the same topic a few posts down in this forum: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6233-myford-touch-glitches/?p=47573 As I said in this post and here, I did a lot of investigating, read a lot of online complaints on various forums, not just this one. It's not specific to the platform, it's not specific to the car. It's specific to MFT 3.5.1. Upgrading to 3.5.1 is when it began for everyone who has this problem, no matter what kind of Ford they are driving or what year it is. No, I cannot tell you why it works for some and not for others. I'm not a software engineer. My guess is that there's some obscure setting that, if you hit that lottery just right, keeps it from starting. Mine worked fine until I introduced a second phone to my car. All hell broke loose after that. I sincerely hope that the next update to MFT fixes this problem. They've been getting complaints about it from many MFT users ever since 3.5.1 came out.
  4. Actually, what's customary is to read the old threads and do searches on a topic instead of pretending to know it all or getting puffed up and defensive. My Google works just fine. Outta here.
  5. There are old threads here from me discussing this issue, months ago. Did a LOT of research on it then. It's not unique to the phone; all sorts of systems are having the problem. Please don't confuse me with someone who spouts off without doing my research. Thank you.
  6. I don't even try to play music in the car anymore from my phone. This is possibly my biggest disappointment with this car. I'm so very glad I didn't spring for the Titanium for the Sony system with the 12 speakers. What would be the point of that expense?

    MPG Happy Talk

Happy to see this thread still going strong! My mileage is slowly improving, more or less. Short trips are still generally crap, but my average trip to work is around 45mpg. I find that the battery is charging more and better in the mornings lately and I think that is helping.
  8. So do I! They can keep all the scorpions, too.
  9. LOL, glad to see everyone has kept up their sense of humor. I'm okay, did some testing and have a bunch of biopsies off at the lab so won't know if I"m really okay until next week, probably. It's routine screening but they did find some things that were a little off, so just making sure. Also got a new puppy, so that's been keeping me busy. He's adorable but he hates the new car, or any car. Gets carsick, so this should be interesting :) My mileage has slowly improved a bit. Just saw that I got the other recall now, so I guess I'll be talking to the dealer about that one, too. Happy Motoring!! (Who here is old enough to remember that?)
  10. I've been out of commission here for a bit. Been busy, had some health problems, then my regular laptop bit the dust and I've just now gotten back over here. Hope I didn't miss anything exciting. I'm still waiting for my cracking noise parts to come in, still loving the Fusion! And how are YOU?
  11. I'm quite certain that not everyone in this thread is hearing the same noise. Pumps in hybrids make noise that is unusual to those who haven't driven a hybrid before.
  12. There are issues with MFT, but being "confusing" is not one of them, unless you are completely tech-challenged, as many of these reviewers seem to be. You have four functions and each has been assigned a corner of the screen for quick access. Once there, the information is readily apparent. I think that the real issue is that there are too many crotchety old men writing car reviews.
  13. I run manually-- "My Temp" is 70 degrees and after things cool off I tweak it up to 72. Do okay this way. In the mornings here, it's cold, but instead of running the heat I just use the seat warmer and turn it off once it's warm. I find that is plenty to take the edge off if the 50 degree mornings and it doesn't seem to impact my mileage very much.
  14. You could apply a little black magic marker over the areas where the paint wouldn't come off. Or black paint. Two wrongs might make a right, in that case.
  15. Funny, I haven't gotten one since I started this thread. <filed under things that make you go "hmmmmmm....">
  16. I always use voice commands. The biggest problem I have is that when there are people in the car, they want to talk and joke around with the navigation system while I'm giving it commands, and that will throw everything off. I have come close to strangling my husband over this a couple of times.
  17. Yup. Ads will display according to your own browsing history. I did some research for a friend on adult diapers and I swear ads for adult diapers followed me around for months, even here. It's not site specific; it's how the ad placement programs work.
  18. Hahah, yep, Redskin colors. I think you're lucky; it's a very complimentary color! Not sure what you'd use to remove that other than paint thinner, and I'm not sure how good that would be for the rubber tires.
  19. I also have the recall notice and am from Job 1.
  20. Well, it can't be too rigid or you could never change lanes in the thing.
  21. Last week (Thursday) I was told the parts were on order and it would be about three weeks. I'm to touch base with them in early July if they haven't called me by then.
  22. I'm in the same camp. The car is wonderful, but I'm not seeing the numbers the others here see. Yesterday I got mine back from the dealer and there was a noticeable drop in mileage performance-- was only hitting 23 mpg on my trip back to work whereas I'd usually see at least 35 by that point. I called the service manager who didn't have much to offer and we agreed I'd keep an eye on it. It slowly got better and I suspect now there was a severe drain to the battery during the servicing that was done. There is a TSB out about some Fusions having problems holding a charge in the 12V battery. Outside of a dead battery, though, I'm not sure how one would know if this were a problem with their car. It certainly could affect mileage, though. I'm wondering if this could be part of why my car doesn't quite perform as well as some of the others.
  23. Just an update; my parts are on order for this fix, should take about three weeks. Also, I don't know who else here was having the problems with the trim behind the triangular windows, but apparently those little pieces were re-engineered and there's a new part for that, as well-- also on order. Hope to have it all resolved by early July.
