Barsoom Report post Posted October 18, 2014 Does anyone else have the black center line missing from the rear camera view? I only see the colored lines on the sides, and the white turning lines. The black center line only shows on the zoomed camera view. The picture of the lines on the vehicle settings camera screen shows the black center line. A friend with a new Ford Explorer with the MyFordTouch had the black center line on the regular back up view. Does anyone else notice this?
Griswald Report post Posted October 18, 2014 I looked, mine only has a dashed black line in Zoom mode. Didn't know I had a dashed line or a zoom mode...learn something new every day...
gkinla Report post Posted October 19, 2014 I looked, mine only has a dashed black line in Zoom mode. Didn't know I had a dashed line or a zoom mode...learn something new every day... Some where in manual it says the center line in the zoom mode can be use to help align a trailer hitch. I remember a picture in the OM showing a center line in the non-zoomed mode. I don't have a center line in the non-zoomed mode.
GrySql Report post Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Suggest you move the steering wheel back and forth to see if the centerline fades in and out. Pages 190-191 in the 2013 FFH Owner's Manual:• The fixed and active guidelines fade in and out depending on the steering wheel position. The active guidelines are not shown when the steering wheel position is straight. • The centerline is only available if Active or Fixed guidelines are on. • When manual zoom is enabled, only the centerline is shown. Yep, tried that, no center line at all. The only center line is in the zoom mode and it's fixed. In the normal mode the gray lines start faded and get brighter as the wheels go hard over, just as the OM says.
Barsoom Report post Posted October 19, 2014 And like I said, my friend's Explorer has the black center line in the normal non-zoomed display. It's not a big deal to me, but it's another glitch in the FFH programming that should be noted for posterity. 1 gkinla reacted to this
SteveB_TX Report post Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Your friends Explorer is designed to have a trailer hitch. The Fusion is not. Thus, the Explorer has the center line, and the Fusion does not, unless needed by zooming the display. Simple programming difference depending on the model. The MKZ and the Fusion have slightly different programming as well. You can't just make a blanket "another glitch in the FFH programming" statement because the system operates differently than a completely different vehicle. That's like comparing the proverbial apples to oranges, or Apple to Microsoft. :) Edited October 19, 2014 by SteveB_TX 4 corncobs, jeffo65, hybridbear and 1 other reacted to this
Barsoom Report post Posted October 19, 2014 Then why does the picture in the vehicle settings on the FFH show the black line? I know the answer is sloppy programming or that they didn't want to customize the one picture for all their cars. But showing the center line on the settings screen and then not including it in the actual functionality just invites criticism.

In the normal mode the gray lines start faded and get brighter as the wheels go hard over, just as the OM says.Mine is the same in Active mode. The centerline in the Zoom view is a fixed, dashed black line. We've found some statements in the FFH OM to be 'cut and paste' type explanations that may be generic for other models, that may be the case here. 3 corncobs, Sleddog and gkinla reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) I was lurking on a Flex Forum and sure enough there was this same discussion. One post had a picture of his MFT screen and it showed a solid black centerline when backing up in the Active Mode, so certain systems actually follow our FFH OM's description. hybridbear Report post Posted October 21, 2014 I did some testing and here are the results: C-Max Energi, not zoomed in Fusion Energi, not zoomed in Fusion Energi, zoomed in Focus Electric, not zoomed in Focus Electric, zoomed in If other users have other Ford vehicles they could post similar pictures to see how the behavior varies from vehicle to vehicle. Note how the Focus has a white center line while the C-Max has a dashed black line. 3 corncobs, gkinla and GrySql reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted October 24, 2014 Its just Ford's way of cutting printing costs. They use one image for all the manuals. The Fusion as mentioned is never meant to pull a trailer, so the hitch guidelines are unnecessary. The SUV's are designed to pull a trailer so they are enabled in all views. Hybrider Report post Posted October 24, 2014 The lines on the rear camera screen on my 2014 FFH SE match up with the photos of HB's 2013 Fusion EnTi cam. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
