Easy Rider Report post Posted December 18, 2014 Mine has locked up twice and I WISH it had soft-booted on it's own.......instead of the hard reset that is "their" only answer for things like that. I now have the unofficial soft-boot USB stick in the car incase I need it again. I wonder if it will still work (properly) if I upgrade to the new version of the software ??? Easy Rider Report post Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) The new version of the software is virtually unlockupable And just exactly HOW would you know that for sure ?? Do you work in a Microsoft software testing lab, where you have run thousands of hours of stress testing on the new version ?? Or are you just spouting unsubstantiated personal opinions again ??? The longer I use my car, the more "stuff" is stored in there that I would hate to lose......yet again.I will keep my un-approved soft boot option, thank you very much. IF......they really wanted to do this right, the update process would save a few little files with user data and then restore them after the upgrade was done. That's a pretty trivial task for a real programmer. Edited December 19, 2014 by Easy Rider

TonyHzNV Report post Posted December 22, 2014 Hi all. I did the 3.7 update last week and it went smoothly and took about 30 minutes like others have reported. Also, like others, my phone was no longer paired, info was wiped out including the phonebook, radio/Sirius presets, navigation destinations and my iPod had to be re-indexed by the system. This all sounds like normal from what I've read here. One thing I did notice that was different after the update: the browse function (voice command used with my iPod). Prior to the update, I would say (for example) "Browse artist Santana" and the system would display all of my Santana albums on the screen in alpha order and I could scroll through the list to find what I wanted. Since the update, when using the same command, the Sync voice replies with "browsing artist Santana" like before, but the screen doesn't show a list of my Santana albums like before. Now it goes to a screen with tabs across the top with letter groups to browse like [TAB1] A - F [TAB2] G - L [TAB3] M - S [TAB4] T - Z and I have to MANUALLY browse my entire library to find what I want. THIS REALLY SUCKS. Anyone else experience this? If so, were you able to fix it? Probably not a lot of you using iPods these days, but I find it very convenient, especially with 80 gigs of music available and not remembering every album name. HELP! :)

HELP! :) Typical Microsoft software "upgrade". Fixes some stuff and breaks others.I suggest that you take this up directly with Sync Support.......and don't let them brush you off either. I highly doubt that you can get an immediate fix but they should address that in the next release.......if there ever IS one.
GrySql Report post Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) Hi Dave,I still do not have an ETA for the update. Continue to check your account at: www.Support.Ford.com for software update availability. Once I have more information, I'll be sure to share it with you all. :)KimWe 2013 owners are still under the 'you can't have Sync v3.7' edict. Back in Sept, 29, 2014 she told me:"I can confirm that V3.7 is not available for any 2011-2013 MyFord Touch equipped vehicles, which is why you're not seeing the option to update on your account. V3.7 is primarily designed to support new features (which are not available on the model years prior to 2014) as well as features in markets outside North America". So far this still applies to my account, I think we 2013 owners can stop worrying about using v3.7. Edited December 22, 2014 by GrySql

Every year on every car there are HUNDREDS of little changes, especially when it comes to the electronics. Just because it looks the same doesn't mean the guts underneath are the same. I don't know what the technical difference is that keeps V3.7 unavailable for 2013s, but there's obviously something.
Easy Rider Report post Posted December 23, 2014 I don't know what the technical difference is that keeps V3.7 unavailable for 2013s, but there's obviously something. That something might not be technical at all.It might be an administrative decision to not go back and test compatibility for those models, which would need to be done because probably NOBODY really knows enough details about the new software and the old hardware/firmware to make a good call on whether it will work right or not. There has to be a limit on how much time and money they spend on going back farther. 1 Texasota reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted December 23, 2014 While you are arguing on a lost cause why don't you simply think about the fact that the Fusion went on sale in Europe and that there might simple changes / additions like language options. The hardware won't be any different but why take the chance if the 2013 was planned with this option to break something else. We do this all the time. New software is release and its officially supported starting at version Y but we know it will also work on version X with an additional upgrade which can't be part of the general install because it conflicts without manual intervention. As far as we know there are no difference on the UI mainly internal features for the release overseas. Just see GrySql's post above quoting the IVT rep. 1 GrySql reacted to this

In the spirit of globalization, we have included North American owners of 2014 and newer vehicles should they choose to update their MyFord/MyLincoln Touch system. Kim, I hope I am speaking for more people than just myself when I say our problem with this explanation is that the 2013 Fusion is part of the same generation car as the 2014 and 2015, and is NOT the same as the 2011 and 2012. It seems ludicrous to lump the 2013 cars in with the 2011 and 2012 cars. There were HUGE changes between 2012 and 2013 but very few changes between 2013 and 2014. I find it hard to believe that there are "new features" added to the 2014 to make the update incompatible with the 2013 cars. The infotainment systems are the same for 2013 and 2014 cars. There are a few very simple changes added to 3.7 such as showing ETA instead of time to destination, which I cannot believe is a feature that would be incompatible with a 2013 car. ETA is a very useful piece of information and is a feature of nearly all GPS systems. It is sad that this is a measure not available to owners of 2013 cars. If you are indeed advocating for us owners we would appreciate if you could pass our feelings up the chain and not just repeat the quote issued by Ford. I apologize for the tone of my reply, but I do not think the reply from Ford makes sense or addresses our concerns as vehicle owners. 3 GrySql, Boat Racer and hybridbear reacted to this

Here are the steps to pair the device: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/pair-your-phone-sync-myford-touch If I gave you an answer to the second question, I'd be taking a wild guess. ;) I don't recommend installing this update on the 2013 vehicle because it wasn't designed for that model. Hi TonyHzNV,Try pressing the down arrow when you're on that screen. You should still be able to scroll through the entire list. You are not required to use the tabs. I hope this helps!KimHI Kim, yes I can press the down arrow to scroll through the entire list. The problem is the "entire list" is now my entire library beginning with the letter "A". Before, when I said "browse artist Santana", the list was only Santana albums in alpha order as it should be/was. Whoever made this change screwed it up and needs to put it back like it was. PRETTY PLEASE! ☺ Update 12/24/14, 6 PM: I went out to the garage a little bit ago and played around with my system to see if anything else was acting up. In the process, I used the [browse] button on the touchscreen to browse around instead of the voice command and everything seemed to be working OK, so I tried the voice command again and it started working right again. I was just getting ready to report another problem and that was that after using the command [uSB] then [browse Artist Santana], the system responded with [browse Artist Santana] then brought up on the touch screen the tabbed screen I mentioned before with [All Artists] at the top of the list with every artist in my iPod listed in alpha order. So, I selected the [T - Z] tab then scrolled up to find Santana (faster than searching UP to "S" from the previous tab). I selected "Santana" which brought up the list of all Santana albums, I selected an album (Abraxas) which took me to the list of songs on the album. I then selected the first song to play the album and then......nothing. I pressed it numerous times and it never played the song. I tried this with several different artists with the same result. But, like I said, it's working right again and I don't know why. Maybe it had something to do with the "manual" browsing I did. I don't know and probably never will. All I know is it happened and at first I thought I was crazy. That's why I tried it with several other artists. Oh well, sorry Kim!
