New Software Update for Sync

Recommended Posts

Went to SyncMyRide and was informed that I had a 1 vehicle to do list and that was to update the Software.

From Gen2 - V3.6 to Gen2 - V3.7

Read carefully before implementing the software.

Pair phone once completed.

I just checked syncmyride.com and it says that I'm on the latest version - Gen2 - V3.6.2. Where else can I get this upgrade?

EDIT: After doing some research, the v3.7 is an international version only. If you update in the US, you will lose Nav traffic and Navigation.

Version:

Gen2 - V3.7

EA5T-14D544-AC

ABOUT THE LATEST UPDATE

The new software update for SYNC® with MyFord Touch systems includes all the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits such as:

Navigation:
•Map content for Europe and Australia/New Zealand regions
•Mute button for SYNC Navigation prompts added to Navigation map screen
•Estimated "Time of Arrival," instead of "Time to Destination" now shown on map screen

The installation of this update will take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Be sure to keep your engine running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Turning off your vehicle during the
update installation will disrupt the process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you begin the installation process, you may drive your
vehicle while the update is downloading to your SYNC system.

If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you will need to temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle

Shutdown (AEIS) component before beginning the installation in order to prevent your vehicle from timing out and shutting off the engine
before the software update is complete. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your l
eft-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. (If you do not see this setting, there is no need to
make any changes before starting the update.)

Alternatively, after initiating the installation, you may drive the vehicle during the update process to avoid shutting off the engine.
The next time you start your vehicle, the AEIS will automatically reset to "On."

Please note: During the update installation, SYNC will temporarily appear to not recognize your mobile phone or media device. This is normal. Once
your system has been successfully updated, SYNC will display a notification stating "Installation complete."

Had navigation get me to the nearest Kroger Store which was about a mile from my home and it directed me without an incident correctly.

It did tell me that I was about a minute away although when Navigation was complete it told me that it took 5 minutes to get to Kroger's and that was due to

the Beautiful Christmas Lights like mainly the color red.

Also informed me of traffic incidents in and around my town.

Hey IraF and KLH,

I can confirm that V3.7.11 was available for a short period of time this morning (for eligible vehicles) on our website: www.Support.Ford.com; however, the download has been removed temporarily. The EU version of this update was released prior to this one, which may have been what you were referring to, KLH. As long as you are obtaining the update from our website, I can assure you that it is intended for your vehicle and will not cause you to lose navigation capabilities.

I'll fill you in once I receive more information. Stay tuned :)!

Kim

Why was it removed? When will it be back?

Also installed on the MKZ 2014 Hybrid and had no navigation problems or loss of such.

Gen2 - 3.7 that was on the website for a little while is for the 2013_2014 vehicles

Gen2 - 3.7.11 is for the 2015 vehicles on the dealers lot. We supposedly don't have access to that.

I Called Lincoln to see if I screwed up - No

All my "sync My Ride" page says is my 3.6.2 is up to date. Even when my car was running the factory version, and 3.6.2 was available it said the same thing. etis says I have a software update available, but not the sync my ride page.... *shrug*

I am impressed that somebody at "SYNC" is listening.

Those are two things I would love to have.

Please keep us informed as to availability.

P.S. If I don't check for this myself, is this something that the dealer should be telling me about (and maybe offering to install) when I go in for routine service ??

I believe you can ask the dealer to do it for you. They shouldn't charge you to do this update as I believe they can claim it under warranty for reimbursement from Ford. However, Ford recommends that you do it yourself by following the instructions on the Sync website. It isn't hard to do yourself.

Yep, easy to do, just plan on a 30 minute drive in silence and leave your phone at home. Plug and play update

I guess my question was unclear.

If I don't visit the web site, which should not be required of an owner, how will I find out that things like this are available ??

I hear that a Nav update is available too.

I have received no notifications of any updates.

Wait a sec.

I thought that it gets the update via your phone.

Am I missing something.......again ??

I don't think there are any notifications except if you login to Ford Owner or read internet forums. Ford dealers might tell you when you're in for service, I'm not sure. When MFT 3.6 came out last year there was also media coverage to let people know.

No, the instructions online with the update go something like this:

  1. download update to a blank USB flash drive
  2. plug flash drive in to car
  3. wait for software to update (about 30 minutes), the car must stay in the "on" position the entire time
  4. bring USB flash drive back to computer and connect it so that the Ford website can read the flash drive and confirm that the update was a success

You download the update from the website to a USB thumb drive.

The thumbdrive is inserted into the car's USB port to start the update.

My car would never do that, never ever.

I called Sync a few times and the only answer that I received was to take it to the Dealer, my car was not in the computer correctly.

I finally had the Dealer update it.

I am curious to see if my car will accept this upcoming update via USB stick.

Meanwhile, I need a vacation so I've made a service appointment next Tuesday at my Dealer (South Bay Ford's New Age Fusion Café, Focus Massage Parlor & Flex Spa.)

The FFH needs some minor fixes and am going to ask if their service laptops have Sync 3.7 available yet.

Hello Ford Forum Monitor:

Is this true ?

Seems like pretty sub-standard customer service to me.

They have my email address and seem to have no problem sending me "promotional" emails.

One would think that they would send out update notices too......and/or have it pop up at the service shop whenever the car is in for service.

I asked my Dealer about this 2 days ago, they didn't have 3.7 available to me, said it was not on their computers.

FWIW, I just picked up a 2014 Focus and it has 3.7. That is what prompted me to look for it for our '14 Fusion, but no luck.

Replying to my own post... The Focus has Nav v3.62.5 and has the Mute button on the Nav screen and allows you to set the arrival time on the screen as opposed to travel time. The Fusion has Nav v3.48.9 and does not have those changes. So I guess the Focus really does have the MFT 3.7 update.

I emptied the flash drive I received for the last update and saved the downloaded files to it. When I tried to update today the car told me that I had the latest version installed and didn't take any further action. What now?
