How to jack up the FFH for a tire rotation?

I've always "enjoyed" doing my own maintenance but I think I'm stumped on the FFH.

 

I have ramps for an oil change, no problem. But what about a tire rotation? I have a hydraulic floor jack and 4 jack stands. The problem is the jack points on the pinch weld. I can jack the car up on each corner using the pinch welds, one wheel at a time, but then how do I place the jack stand? The hydraulic jack is then in the way of jack stand placement.

 

On my previous vehicle I could jack up on the subframe and use the jack stands on the pinch welds. On the FFH there's no subframe to jack up with.

 

Ideally you want the car in the air supported by four jack stands (on the pinch welds I suppose). How has anyone actually accomplished this? If so, please tell me how, Or has tire rotation become a dealer only job now too?

There are jack points under the car marked with little triangles.

Usually the little U shaped top of a scissor jack fits tight around the that double plated spot.

 

I did swap my winter tires myself one by one takes maybe 1/2 hour.

Are you trying to jack up all four corners at the same time in order to rotate tires?

 

I use to do my own tire rotations when I thought saving $25.00 was worth my time/effort but don't do that anymore. But, what I use to do was utilize the spare tire during the process like this:

 

1. Jack up one of the rear corners
2. Remove the wheel/tire and install the spare tire
3. Lower the car onto the spare and move to the corner where the removed wheel/tire should be installed.
4. Jack up that corner, remove the wheel/tire and install the one that was removed in step #2.
5. Move to the next corner where the wheel/tire removed in step #4 should be installed and continue the process.

It was a lot of work but it worked. I also wore out the car jack and had to buy a new one. At that point I decided the $25.00 rotation fee was cheap money. Of course, the FFH does not come with a spare tire so you would need to get one first which is a very good idea anyway.

Place the stand under the control arm, its quite safe that way. Turn the stand so that the lip is catching on an opening when the weight is down on it.
